Equipment

Overview

AEK-999 is a 2nd volley with a night specialist variation of the hunting impulse skill. The initial cooldown makes the skill a 2nd volley instead of a 1st volley like its daytime equivalents. She has alright armor tiles and rate of fire tiles to give to a SG, although there are better performing alternatives. While it sounds fine, this combination of traits makes AEK-999 not even worth considering for a team.

Strengths

Armor tiles

AEK-999 has the slightly rare trait of an MG with tiles that buff an SGs armor value.

Weaknesses

2nd Volley

Although her skill is a Hunting Impulse variant, which is usually 1st volley, her initial cooldown makes her a 2nd volley MG.

Night Specialist

An MG that specializes in night is rather pointless considering that they cannot equip PEQs.

Full Analysis

AEK-999 has been made so garbage and counter-intuitive that it is practically a meme.

The whole point of Hunting Impulse skills was that they kicked in at the 1st volley, so despite the inherently lower multipliers to 2nd volley skills, they still generally do better on the 1st volley. For the night variant, AEK-999’s 8 second initial cooldown is the same as other 2nd volley MGs, but even Lock and Load - one of the worst 2nd volley skills an MG can get - is better than Hunting Impulse N.

Because her damage buff is non-existent at day, she is forced to be used solely at night. Since MGs can’t equip PEQs and have inherently low accuracy, any hope of reliably hitting evasive enemies at night is gone. Therefore, she should only be used against 0 evasion enemies, which renders the accuracy self-buff portion of her skill entirely useless.

So not only is she part of the uncommonly used niche of 2nd volley MGs, but she does not perform nearly as well as other 2nd volley MGs and is forced into a specialization that wastes half her skill anyways. It is incredible what the developers can do to ruin what would otherwise be a 1st volley and partially viable MG.

Her stats are exceedingly average as well, so she cannot rely on pure firepower stats to bail her out of bad situations. With a unique skill variant that fails to have a niche, many better alternatives, and not even much value with subpar armor tiles, AEK-999 is not worth raising.

Her jacket and biker skin are pretty cool though.
