Equipment

M9 BC2 Grips

Overview

What the M9 beretta brings to the table is a flashbang in a handgun. Hardly any handguns bring crowd control skills, so she can have interesting potential applications. Her skill, the Stun Grenade, comes with all the limitations of a 2* SMG stun grenadier, but with a shorter 12 second cooldown and the ability to receive cooldown reduction tiles.

Because of her weak but useful tile buffs, M9 can be a very temporary beginner’s position 4 support. However, genuine stronger support options like SAA are easily obtainable, so even that is not very recommended. M9’s problem is that the position 4 support usually provides only buffs to the DPS. Relegating a tanking skill to the back and sacrificing damage output is hard to justify when main tanks at the front can already use that, so M9 should be one of the last options to consider when making a general team.

M9’s fate is to be used as a specific specialist on teams that need a flashbang to stall dangerous targets that cannot be killed in time, but have none on the frontline due to being an RFHG or other highly situational reasons.

Strengths

High Base HP

380 HP is on the higher end for a handgun.

Strong Crowd Control

Stun grenades will stop affected enemies from moving or attacking, sometimes buying valuable time.

Decent Tile Coverage

M9’s tile shape puts her on position 4, where she can hit both DPS’s and the offtank from her position with her damage buff.

Weaknesses

Long Initial Cooldown

5 seconds initial cooldown and an extra couple seconds for the grenade’s throwing and flight animation means oftentimes battles are over before M9 lands the stun.

Ineffective Against Certain Enemies

Stun grenades do not have any effect against bosses and specific other enemies like Doppelsölders, which means M9 would only be left with her defensive stats, where a survival self-buffing main tank would perform better.

Low Evasion

66 evasion is pretty low for a handgun. Good thing M9 doesn’t really fit into a tanking role.

Weak Multipliers Due to Rarity

M9’s stun grenade has the equivalent duration as a 2* SMG stun. Her tiles do not provide much in the way of damage either, especially considering that her skill does not provide anymore dps.

Team Options

Because of her tiles M9 is best left on Position 4. As she buffs 20% Damage with her tiles, RoF RFs, such as WA2000, benefit more from it, though she can also be fielded with other RFs. As her stun is equivalent to a 2 star SMG's, she is not recommended to be fielded in ARSMG settings.

History/Trivia

M9 was intended to be a replacement of M1911 in the US Army, but failed to do so
