Equipment

Overview

The korean-made SG USAS-12 relies on high damage output rather than strong tile buffs to support her team compared to her counterparts — her fast activating Skill that maxes her RoF and increases her clip size makes her the most lethal SG during the first 8 seconds of a battle. Although USAS’ single tile presents a problem when buff effectiveness is a concern, she is still a solid SG for 2MG Echelons where she makes up for her lacking buffs with raw damage output. Overall USAS is still one of the better SGs despite her tile buff issues; the increased potency in her tile combined with her high early damage potential more than make up for her weaknesses in 2MG Echelons.

Strengths

Relatively high DPS

USAS has the highest DPS of all SGs thanks to her quick to activate Skill that maximizes her RoF and increases her magazine size.

Weaknesses

Single Tile

Though USAS has quite the damage output, the fact that she’s only able to buff a single MG in any given Echelon is discouraging. The overall impact this has, however, is not very noticeable as she makes up for this deficiency with respectable damage output of her own.

Full Analysis

While USAS-12 does initially present with an oddly-laid out asymmetrical tile, if one is capable of getting past that, what awaits is a very solid SG with incredible damage potential.

While USAS’ tile presents a problem in MG Echelons that have more than one MG, its raw potency combined with USAS’ own high damage output due to her 1 second Cooldown Skill is enough to make up for the difference with the likes of Ithaca 37 and KSG in short battles — so even though USAS might seem underwhelming on first sight, her actual performance is not really far off from what Ithaca and KSG can achieve through their tile buffs.

When it comes to 3MG Echelons, USAS is still not very far behind SGs like SAT8 in terms of team damage up to the 8 second mark. The main difference between the two is that SAT8 provides 3 Accuracy buffs, which serves to further boost the Echelon’s reliability. This ends adding up to a couple thousand extra damage in most cases, which may serve to make SAT a more compelling choice.

Despite this, USAS is for the most part a very solid SG all around. While her single buff tile is deficient, she is able to mitigate this clear weakness through her own ability to deal damage; while her methodology may be a bit unconventional, there really isn’t that much of a difference in damage output by Echelons who employ her. She also makes for a great unit to fight Chapter 9 and 10’s boss, Judge, due to her Skill allowing her to make excellent use of SLUG type ammunition. These qualities make USAS an effective SG especially in 2MG Echelons, as well as in short battles where she can deal heavy damage and show what she can do.

Team Options

The ‘big 4’ MGs

USAS’ single tile requires a very strong MG to take advantage of it and minimize the negative impact her single tile has. For this reason, the big 4 MGs — PKP, PK, MG5 and M2HB — are the best match for her.

Mk23 and Contender

Although Mk23 and Contender are staple HGs in MG Echelons, they synergize especially well with USAS due to her best-in-class offensive capabilities.

History/Trivia

USAS-12 is an automatic shotgun designed in 1989 by John Trevor Jr and has been produced by Daewoo since then. It is currently used by a number of countries, with South Korea, Brazil and Colombia being among them. In 2007 Ameetec Arms LLC started manufacturing a semi-automatic USAS-12 clone, the WM-12.
