THIS ENTIRE PAGE IS OUTDATED!!!

THIS IS FOR THE ORIGINAL CT RANKING!!

THIS IS NOT FOR THE CT+ RANKING RERUN!!!!

03/11 update: Revised the Outer Defection: West scenario to provide a better sequence of moves, to compensate for a bug that caused allied Hydras to reverse their normal move order.

03/08 update: Optimized the "All Eliminate" strategy for Inner Defection to yield one more heliport in both cases. This means one additional AP as well as an extra 2,000 points.

Introduction

Military Defection is a specific mechanic in Hurricane Rescue that gives the player a chance to earn a lot of points.

This short guide will cover how to trigger the mechanic and what to do afterward.

This is the ideal case. You should set both top-left Hydras to Wait. This will eliminate all but one remaining enemy Hydra.

On the enemy's turn, their remaining Hydra will walk in a random direction and attack you.

Force-retreat the allied Hydra, so that next turn we can exploit the Eliminate AI to force the remaining Hydras into moving. (These units will not move if all enemy units are dead)

Choose Scenario

This is not the optimal case. You'll get 11 out of 13 Heliports.

This is the optimal case. You'll get 13 out of 13 Heliports.

This is a coinflip. You'll get 11 or 13 Heliports depending on RNG.

This is not the optimal case. You'll get 11 out of 13 Heliports.

These outcomes are slightly better than Inner Defection.

This is not as ideal, but it's okay. There are two main strategies used to tackle this: All Eliminate and All Standby.

  • All Eliminate is safer, and guarantees destruction of all 13 AA Towers.
  • All Standby is risky and reliant on RNG, but has a higher score ceiling.

All Standby also gives you 1 more AP on Turn 4 and 2-3 more AP on Turn 5, which can mean an extra crate that offsets any potentially undestroyed Anti-Air Platforms.

Choose Strategy

Start by setting all Hydras to Eliminate. They will move as follows:

This will kill all but one enemy Hydra and clear 12/13 AA Platforms. On the enemy's turn, their remaining Hydra will attack one of your units randomly - retreat that unit.

Pick Left/Right Scenario

The left case results in one fewer Helipad captured than the right case.

Follow the instructions as shown to get the last AA Tower and maximize Heliports captured:

The right case results in one more Helipad captured than the left case.

Follow the instructions as shown to get the last AA Tower and maximize Heliports captured:

Start by setting all Hydras to Standby. The enemies will move as follows:

Do not retreat your Hydras in this case - kill all the enemies that run into you.

Turn 4

There will be one enemy Hydra remaining. Regardless of its position, set your own Hydras' commands as follows:

On the enemy phase, the remaining hostile Hydra will attack one of your Hydras. Retreat your Hydra and prepare for Turn 5, where the fun RNG begins.

Choose Scenario

This is one of the two better outcomes (the other being Right Case); you have a 50-50 chance of getting 12 Helipads and 13 AA Platforms.

Follow the shown instructions.

This is the most RNG-reliant outcomes; you have a 12.5% chance of getting 12 Helipads and 13 AA Platforms. Anything else and you lose points.

Follow the shown instructions.

This is one of the two better outcomes (the other being Left Case); you have a 50-50 chance of getting 12 Helipads and 13 AA Platforms.

Follow the shown instructions.

The enemy Hydra should be killed when it runs into you on Turn 5, as the map is over after that point so there's no more AI Hydra movement possible.

Military Defection is triggered when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The player must have a kill count of 11 or more.
  • Demolish the Control Tower (using a HOC).
  • Kill the enemy that spawns from the Control Tower's debris one turn after it is demolished.

For example, if the player blows up the Control Tower on Turn 2 Player Phase, then the mob will spawn on Turn 2 Enemy Phase and the player should kill it on Turn 3 Player Phase.
