Equipment

Overview

KAC-PDW is a main tank whose niche primarily revolves around debuff removal and negating a very short burst of damage.

Unlike other force shield SMGs, KAC-PDW's shield only lasts 1 second, which serves the same purpose as a 3-4 second force shield if there's only a quick hit that needs to be blocked. Since there do exist longer-duration enemy skills that deal a lot of damage, KAC-PDW cannot fully replace the likes of G36c or Thompson - their longer skill durations do come in handy sometimes.

KAC-PDW has an advantage over most other force shield SMGs in that her ICD is 6 seconds, instead of the usual 8. In normal battles, the brunt of the damage that SMG tanks take in Girls' Frontline occurs at the start of the battle when there are more enemies alive - so KAC-PDW's shorter ICD and better evasion can be helpful in reducing any scratch damage taken. The increased Evasion after her shield expires is useful, but not a very strong buff compared to dedicated Evasion tanks like MP7 or Suomi, and falls short even compared to permanent-uptime tanks like C-MS or Dorothy

One area where KAC-PDW excels is her unique ability of self debuff removal - which can be very handy if you need to get rid of severe enemy debuffs or something self-inflicted like the -40% penalty of Parachute Fairy.

Strengths

Good base EVA for a shield tank

Force Shield

  • Force shields can negate all incoming damage for a short period of time, and are extremely useful in situations that call for them.

Decent Tile Buff Values

  • Since Damage is pretty much the stat you always want and Accuracy tends to be your second choice in a lot of cases, KAC-PDW giving both of them in respectable amounts is appreciated.

Weaknesses

Awkward Tile Buff Positioning

  • KAC-PDW only buffs tiles 4 and 7 from the maintank slot, which means she'll be missing an AR if you put a DPS on position 1.

Long ICD

  • While having a shorter ICD than some of her shield tank counterparts, 6 seconds is still quite long in comparison to other main tank options like C-MS or UMP45. For reference, KAC-PDW's Force Shield will tend to activate at a similar timeframe as when Stun Grenades from SMGs like UMP9 go off (5s ICD + 1s throwing animation).

Force Shield doesn't last very long

  • Compared to other force shielder SMGs, KAC-PDW's shield lasts only 1 second. This may be insufficient in some scenarios and you'd have to field the classic shielders anyway.

Full Analysis

KAC-PDW's base evasion of 71 is fine, especially considering that the second part of her skill further buffs it. She has 180 HP per dummy link, which is average when compared to other SMGs like her.

Her buff tiles are good, providing a boost of 15% damage and 30% accuracy. You won't have to worry about overcapping RoF or critical rate with her, and a lot of enemies have enough evasion to make the accuracy buff good.

KAC-PDW's skill, 'D-Fense', grants her a short force shield and then a respectable amount of evasion afterwards. Her skill is good in situations where you want to mitigate high upfront burst, which isn't uncommon.

However, KAC-PDW isn't as useful in short fights, where SMGs with lower ICDs tend to be better, like CMS or SMGs with smoke grenades, and she's also not a good option if want to mitigate a longer burst of high damage, for which MP5, G36C, and Thompson would be better options.

Team Options

Offtank SMG

KAC-PDW is a main tank SMG, so pairing her with any offtank will be fine. Depending on the enemy, either DPS options like JS 9 or X95 or AoE solutions like Vector or Micro Uzi MOD can be appropriate.

DPS ARs

Pair her with ARs like you would with most SMGs. KAC-PDW's damage tiles synergize with high damage ARs when you are looking to deal with armored targets.

HGs

Consider bringing along a handgun for night maps or damage/survivability support. Handguns like P22, HS2000C-93, and the upcoming HP-35 all have tiles that allow you to place ARs in both position 4 and 7, which can let you to make full use of KAC-PDW's tiles.
