Equipment
Overview
M16A1, the infamous American rifle, is in Girls’ Frontline an impostor. Almost an SMG disguised as an AR, M16A1 is often mistaken by new Commanders for a DPS unit due to her class. But if her inability to equip an accessory, which means she can neither equip VFLs and EOTs during the day, nor PEQs to offset the night penalty, is not enough of an indicator she is not a DPS unit, then her two T-Doll slots should be, as it allows her to equip an armor plate/her SPEQ and a T Exo at the same time.
However, because 12-4e and 13-4 are both farmable maps better than 0-2, as they have a higher Core drop, higher base EXP, and no EXP penalty (0-2 penalises with a 10% loss T-Dolls from level 113 upwards), M16A1 is sadly relegated to be an obscure niche tank once Commanders graduate from 0-2, and an enigmatic ally-sometimes enemy-on Girls’ Frontline lore.

Strengths
Two T-Doll Equipment Slots
Having two T-Doll slots, M16 can equip two pieces of Doll equipment to enhance her tanking capacity. New Commanders will equip an Armor plate and a T Exoskeleton to lower the repair bill in 0-2 as much as possible
SPEQ
Her SPEQ gives her 20 Armor and 10 Evasion at the cost of 10 RoF and 20 Accuracy. While this may seem greatly detrimental to her DPS, that would be akin to saying this is detrimental to an SMG’s DPS. The buff in M16A1’s tanking capacity, especially because of the Armor stat vastly outweighs any DPS loss it gives.
Great anniversary skin
She’s drop dead gorgeous in it. Nuff said
Weaknesses
No accessory slot
This is part of what establishes M16A1 as purely a tank AR rather than a typical DPS AR. Her inability to equip an accessory means she can’t offset the night penalty due to a lack of PEQs, and she can’t equip a VFL at day, which is a big source of DPS for ARs.
While AR chips is now a thing, her inability to equip even an EOT still means she lags behind most ARs during day missions.
Niche tanking
M16A1’s tanking capacity heavily relies on enemies dealing damage lower than her SPEQ Armor’s, as well as not having an accuracy too high, since M16A1 still has (20 Armor).
SPEQ hard to farm
Her SPEQ is farmable in chapter 6-4N, which isn’t a chapter easy to farm, nor easy to complete to do Auto-Battle farming. With 12-4e and 13-4 now in EN, it’s likely Commanders may end up graduating from 0-2 before they manage to get her SPEQ, even with the release of Auto Battle Tickets.

Team Options
Corpse dragging:
T-Dolls to raise: it’s recommended to raise first HGs and SMGs, and then eventually RFs, MGs and SGs once new Commanders leveled up their fairies to 2, maybe 3 star, to lower the repair bill.
Fairies: The best fairy in your armory. Commanders acquire the Command Fairy from Career Rewards, and it has an excellent aura (don’t raise her Skill tho, the gains are marginal for the Data it costs) and should use her, unless they happen to have better leveled fairies (such as Rescue, Artillery or Taunt).
Commanders with a fair amount of 3 star fairies should attempt to reach 12-4e and 13-4, as those farming spots.

How to 0-2
As M16A1’s main role is being the tank in 0-2, we shall discuss her formation in 0-2. M16A1 is left on Position 6, as in 0-2 there is a node with a Jaguar enemy unit (a mortar type) and being left at the frontmost column allows the AR to kill it before it can shoot one of your backline units.
The AR DPS that will deal with the enemies in 0-2 is best left on the backmost column as this is the best place for her to receive buffs from the T-Dolls being leveled, especially SMGs. She can be in Positions 1, 4 or 7, depending on which units Commanders are raising.
It’s recommended to raise HGs and SMGs first, as their tile buffs will increase the AR’s DPS and lower the repair bill. Less repairs means less resources used to repair after all. Once Commanders have better fairies, they can start raising T-Dolls that don’t tile buff ARs, like RFs, MGs and SGs.
M16A1 will require either a Gold Armor plate or an enhanced Green Plate. She needs at least 10 Armor to reduce all damage in 0-2 to 1.

History/Trivia
The M16 Rifle is a military adaptation of the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle. In 1964, the M16 was first deployed with the US Army for operations in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The M16A1 replaced the M14 Rifle in 1969 to become the standard service rifle for the US military, and the M16A2 was adapted by the US military in 1986. Besides the US military, the M16A1 has been adopted into military service around the world, such as in South Korea.
