Equipment
Overview
Being a second volley MG already puts MG42 one step below first volley MGs such as PKP, Kord, LWMMG and MG 5. As MGs are already a niche class, enemies that face them are usually dead or almost dead after the first volley. Add to that her below average accuracy she falls behind other budget MGs such as LWMMG or M2HB, both first volley MGs.

Strengths
Good FP
Boasting 92 FP puts MG42 above most 2 and 3 star MGs, and even some higher rarity ones such as MG 5 and MG 4.
High ROF
Being a second volley MG, having a high ROF means MG42 takes less time to reload than her counterparts.
Weaknesses
Second volley skill
Having a second volley skill means MG42 lacks behind every first volley MG, as most content requiring MGs can be dealt with on the first volley. There are a few exceptions, such as Judge, but even then, there are dolls that excel in such cases, such as Negev or Lewis.
Awful tiles
Not only her tiles force her to be a position 1 MG, they are pretty not ideal for SGs, as they are a class focused on tanking rather than damage output. Moreover, SGs usually want armor tiles to help tank beefier enemies later on.

Team Options
Having damage tiles means that damage SGs, such as AA-12 or Saiga, can take advantage of them, or that they can be ignored. On the other hand, SGs with armor skill, such as KSG and M1897, can help cover the lack of armor buffs in tougher fights. MG42 also has low accuracy, so HGs with damage and acc tiles, such as SAA or K5, are preferred.

History/Trivia
The Maschinengewehr 42, or "Machine rifle 42” is a heavy machine gun developed and fielded by Nazi Germany during World War II. It was intended to substitute MG34, although both saw use until the end of the war. Having a ROF of 1200 RPM, she was nicknamed “Hitler’s Buzzsaw” due to a distinct muzzle sound. Being reliable, simple and durable, MG42 saw extensive use toward the end of the war, such as in against allied forces during D-day, and post war, where it was used as the basis for the MG1, and later as an inspiration to the american M60.
