T-Doll Analysis

Equipment

Overview

MP5 is a 4★ SMG that you will obtain. Outside of being the doll you always get in Heavy Production, she’s also an underwhelming main tank in her base form.

She’s a Force Shield SMG, meaning she’s directly competing with G36c and Thompson. She suffers from having a shorter uptime on her shield though, not to also mention her poor HP and Evasion stats. Her Evasion can thankfully be saved with her outstanding Special Equipment, but her HP will still remain an issue. Her tiles are passable but won’t be the most beneficial for day or night.

In her base form, MP5 cannot be recommended. For cases where you need a Force Shield SMG, G36c will be the superior option. Even then, Force Shield SMGs are not needed too often, so MP5 is the weakest in an already niche line-up.

However, it is still worth raising MP5 as she has an excellent Neural Upgrade. Every commander will receive a free MP5 at level 50 with x3 links once they complete Chapter 4-3, so it’s advised you hold onto this one and raise it for her MOD when you’re ready.

Equipment

GZ SPEQ-Set Bonus

When equipped with all 3 SPEQs: MP5's Skill 1 ICD is reduced to 6 seconds.

Skill 2's buffs now also apply 6% Damage Reduction as well, and stacks up to 5 times.

Overview

With her Neural Upgrade, MP5 is finally a doll worthy of the IRL weapon’s famous legacy. In one fell swoop, MP5 MOD sets out to cure herself of her previous reputation and solidify her place as a strong Main Tank SMG.

In the stats department, MP5 MOD receives a nice boost to her HP, thus addressing her primary statistical flaw. Her Evasion is still fairly average, but her Special Exoskeleton continues to fix this problem. Force Shield is also finally brought up to 4 seconds of duration, in line with the 5 star Force Shield SMGs.

MP5’s new skill, Blurred Trenches, will increase her Evasion per the number of enemies present when her Force Shield expires. With fights becoming longer, this new skill and all her other survivability buffs combine to greatly improve her tanking capabilities beyond that of the other Force Shield SMGs.

MP5 MOD also gets the amazing new ability to buff RFs on her tiles. This gives her tiles a new breath of fresh air since they are well suited for RFs at night, capping their Crit Rate (with maxed VFLs) and providing helpful accuracy. This doesn’t mean she should be defaulted to only RF echelons though, you should always place her where you think will be most beneficial.

Overall, MP5 MOD is an excellent Main Tank that’s highly versatile and can serve well for AR squads, RF squads, and anywhere in between. She’s particularly important for those that want to place highly in Ranking maps, otherwise still remains a recommended upgrade for most people. Don’t let her old reputation of stealing all your Heavy Constructions cloud your judgement, MP5 is finally a doll worth your time.

Strengths

Great Special Equipment

MP5’s Special Equipment is the GSG UX Exoskeleton, farmable from Night Chapter 4. Anyone looking to use MP5 is required to get this as it is incredibly strong. It gives a whopping 58 Evasion (That’s more Evasion than Suomi has!) which is 23 more than the regular T4 Exo.

It brings MP5’s Evasion up to acceptable levels for her base form and is absolutely recommended to get for her Neural Upgrade.

Ok Tiles

MP5 gives 40% Accuracy and 20% Crit Rate to the ARs on her tiles. This is an ok set of buffs but does somewhat conflict, since Accuracy will be helpful in night battles but less so in day, while Crit Rate will be helpful in days battles but less so in night. Her layout does also hurt as she cannot buff directly behind her.

Thankfully, her Neural Upgrade does change this from an ok set of tiles to a really good set, thanks in part to a newfound ability to buff RFs.

Weaknesses

Poor Base Stats

MP5 comes with 840 HP (168 per dummy link) and 68 Evasion. Both are on the lower end for SMGs which hinder her abilities as a main tank. Her Evasion can be saved by her Special Equipment, but there’s no way around the HP issue.

Weakest Force Shield

Force Shields are already niche in usage, coming with high Initial Cooldowns and short uptimes. In this regard, MP5 suffers from her rarity as she only has a 3 second Force Shield while G36c and Thompson have a 4 second Force Shield. This results in MP5 being the weakest overall in this niche, so most would opt to raise G36c instead if the option is available.

Strengths

Greatly Improved Survivability

MP5 MOD goes from 840 HP to a more reasonable 905 HP (An additional 13 per dummy link) which goes a long way in helping her survivability. Her Evasion is still great, mainly thanks in part to the GSG UX Exoskeleton Special Equipment she has.

Blurred Trenches boosts her Evasion by 20% for each enemy team present up to a max of 3 when her Force Shield expires. Since enemies are becoming tougher and therefore fights are becoming longer, all of these survivability upgrades go a long way to improve MP5’s tanking capabilities not only in fights where Force Shields are desired but in general usage too.

Buffs RFs

MP5 MOD is, at the time of writing, one of only two SMGs that can buff RFs (the other being Dorothy who is an extra doll). This grants her a solid niche as being a proper Main Tank for RF squads. Her tiles of Accuracy and Crit Rate are well suited for RFs, particularly in night maps. The 20% Crit Rate buff is enough to give any RF max Crit Rate as long as they’re equipped with a maxed gold VFL while the 45% Accuracy will help RFs with hitting their targets, especially important with armoured enemies now often possessing Evasion stats.

Weaknesses

Tiles Still Underwhelming for ARs

MP5 MOD's only real flaw is that her tiles are still not the greatest for AR echelons. ARs won’t often see much benefit from both Accuracy and Crit Rate at once, unless they happen to be fighting highly evasive enemies in the daytime for example.

This is not a huge negative for MP5 however, she’ll still be a solid option for a main tank in most AR team compositions.

Team Options

For the most part, MP5 can be used with any AR. There’s no AR which will particularly stand out over others when supported by her. ST AR-15 and M4 SOPMOD II are two of the few ARs that can make use of both her tile buffs at night since they can equip both a PEQ and VFL, but really any AR can do. Any ARs listed above are just examples of strong ARs.

If there’s a HG on MP5’s team, buffing her for Evasion will help her to serve her role better. HGs should still be primarily focused on supporting the DPS, but any which can support both MP5 and the DPS are going to be great. K5 is a great option, since the buffs her skill gives are conditional to doll weapon type. Grizzly is another good example, she can buff both MP5 for Evasion and the DPS for Damage.

Team Options

MP5 is highly versatile and can really go with any AR or RF that you might like to put her with. There’s no real right or wrong answer when it comes to the DPS you choose to be protected by her. Choosing MP5 MOD for a team is more so about the enemies being fought than the dolls themselves.

The dolls above are just a random collection of strong ARs and RFs, by no means is it a recommendation to use her specifically with these dolls.

History/Trivia

The MP5 was created as part of the same generation of weapons as the PSG-1 and HK21, all of which stemmed from the success of the G3 in the early 1960s. The MP5 found similar success and more, with several variants finding homes in dozens of military, law enforcement, and security organizations around the world. In game, Gr MP5 uses the MP5A3 variant with stock extended.
