Overview

The long-lost sixth AR-team member, W at last rejoins her sisters in Girls Frontline, having previously served as both a villain and playable character in Arknights. Already a powerful character there, W faces stiff competition in the crowded field of ARs in Girls Frontline. New arrivals either need situationally valuable Skills, or something truly unique to stand out from the crowd.

Stat wise, W matches a Mod III M4SOPMODII point for point, which is not a bad thing at all, as SOPMOD has an excellent statline. Further, she can equip two Accessories instead of being pigeonholed into an Exoskeleton like other ARs.

At first glance, W provides a rather strange grenade, dividing the damage equally across all enemy groups hit. While the massive 30x multiplier sounds amazing, it is unlikely to stand up to serious usage, as packs of enemies are growing in number very quickly. At only three enemy groups, W is doing less Damaged than SOPMOD, her giant 30x multiplier cut to 10x. However, W's strength lies in her passive.

W's passive provides a laundry list of buffs depending on which AR team members she is paired with. When paired with M4, W transforms herself into a semi-durable main tankb by buffing her own Evasion, and stealing RO635's Neural Upgrade Skill to let her reroll Evasion checks on occasion, and makes up some of the difference in RoF buffs M4 would have gotten from an HG partner, while also delivering more DPS of her own than an HG. When paired with AR-15, W grants AR-15 a slightly nerfed version of G11's Neural Upgrade Skill, dealing a flat percentage of total HP with both her standard attack, and additional attacks from her Neural Upgrade Skill if she is targetting enemies with 'Mark of the Avenger', which W herself will apply. While not as powerful as G11, the damage applied by this effect builds quickly, and is just another notch in AR-15's top tier DPS belt.

M16A1 receives the shortest end of the stick, as W's passive provides buffs and debuffs dependent upon M16's Stun Grenade. While these buffs are quite powerful causing enemies to take more Damage if stunned, or lose Evasion and movement speed if they are not, although that second buff is less powerful by the time most enemies are in range to be stunned, movement speed debuffs are unlikely to be valuable. A buff to M16's Evasion is very powerful, but due to her limited tanking niche, and lack of useful Tile Buffs, W is not likely to drag M16 back into the mainstream of Girls Frontline. RO635 gets a similar treatment, her Skill Debuff is extended, and when W's grenade fires, a minor HP shield is applied to all allies. While situational strong, this is not likely to change the meta of GFL in a significant way.

And, somewhat fittingly, W saves the most insane effects for 'last'. When paired with SOPMOD, W returns to her roots, flinging explosives without mercy, her auto attacks shelling enemies in a manner similar to KSVK-Mod, although with a much greater AoE. Then, on W's Skill activation more grenades are fired, along with additional grenades on SOPMOD's Skill, stacking with Frenzied Circus, with a less multiplier. This Skill has an impressive Damage ceiling, although some major randomness as none of the targetting is fixed, leaving plenty of chances for all of the extra damage to fall on a single extremely unfortunate corpse.

As a final way to add hilarity to the pile, these effects all stack with one another, allowing W to coat the battlefield in explosions, provide a 30HP shield, main tank for M4 when she pulls out her cannon, and let AR-15 deliver percentage-based damage, or any combination thereof.

When you dig through all the math, and complicated interactions, W has some incredible potential in Girls Frontline, but on the inverse, so much of how her Skill works, is untested, and her strict team requirement do put some sharp limits on her, when compared to more standard ARs such as AR-15 or AN94, who can be fit into most teams without as much considerations.

Strengths

Insane Skill

Having seen C93 and AK-15's Skill description and laughed, W seizes the crown of the longest and most complicated Skill description and is unlikely to surrender it. Featuring a laundry list of Buffs to herself and any AR Team member she is paired with, W borrows Skills and effects from a wide variety of Dolls and Neural Upgrades to bring incredible destruction upon any foolish enough to stand in her way.

Weaknesses

Complicated Skill

While one of W's biggest strengths is her skill, one of her biggest weaknesses is that same Skill. A lot of her strength is tied up in that skill and without AR team members in the squad, W is merely a short ICD grenadier with a massive damage ceiling and low damage floor.

Client Performance

Normally, the occasionally spotty GFL client performance wouldn't factor into a Dolls viability, but considering all of the calculations and changes potentially going on with W, it is worth taking into account that that GFL client is unlikely to be able to endure her at her strongest.

Team Options

W's strengths lie in supporting the AR team more than anything else, and she should be paired with at least one or two members at all times. Beyond that, she can be slotted into any standard AR/SMG team without major hassle, although her tile layout does limit her somewhat in these teams, and if not paired with RO635 or M4A1, W should stay out of Positions 5 or 8.
