Amidst doubts on whether or not Google Stadia will be successful, it looks like they are already proving naysayers wrong, and it hasn’t even released yet. While there isn’t an official date of release (sometime in November is all we know) it looks like Google is almost already sold out of their Founder’s Edition bundle, which includes everything you need to be ready to enjoy their service on day one. If you haven’t been keeping up with Google Stadia, it’s a game streaming service that is apparently “not” the Netflix of Video Games. Check out some of our coverage on it below.
Essentially, the service allows you to instantly enjoy games in up to 4K on your TV without a console. You can also play across laptops, desktops, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3a phones with cross-screen early access starting from day one. The caveat: you need their equipment to use it. They have bundles available for pre-order that includes everything you need to be ready once the services officially launches. Right now the Founder’s Edition is available for pre-order, but is already sold out in all countries except for the US, Canada, and the UK.
The Founder’s Edition comes with an exclusive Night Blue Controller along with a Chromecast Ultra, 3 months of Stadia Pro, a Buddy Pass (that allows you to give 3 months to a friend) and a unique Founder’s Stadia Name and Founders Badge.
In lieu of the sell out of the Founder’s Edition, they have begun pre-sale of the Premiere Edition in those countries where it is no longer available. They will continue move to this model after the Founder’s Edition is completely sold out. It is the same price as the Founders Edition but it doesn’t have as many features. It comes with the Clearly White Controller and Chromecast Ultra and the Stadia Pro for 3 months. It does not include the Buddy Pass and you will have a standard Stadia Name. The standard name is the same username formatting all Stadia members going forward will be able to choose, which will include auto-appended numbers to your username.
While Google has not released the number of Founder's Editions they originally had available, it is obvious from pre-orders that this service is going to be popular. As they continue to release lists of games that will be available with their service, I think those numbers will continue to go up. Once the Founder’s Edition is gone, it is gone -- so if you are in the US, Canada, or the UK and you are still thinking about ordering one, you might want to get on that before they run out. And hopefully we will hear more about an official release date soon so we can all get aboard that hype train.
