Hassan of the Cursed Arm

Boss Analysis

  • An all-out-brawl with a total of 36 Hassan enemies, with four of them (the actual Servants) having instant death gimmicks.
  • The first three bosses, Cursed-Arm, Hundred-Face, and Serenity will each cast a timer buff on themselves which casts an instant kill on whoever kills them.
  • The last Cursed-Arm Hassan will cast an instant kill on everyone in the frontline.
  • The various other (filler) Hassan also cast a debuff on their killer.
  • Makhur the Swift: Casts Defense down and Quick down on death for 3 turns.
  • Zayd the Lowest: Casts Defense down and Arts down on death for 3 turns.
  • Gozhur the Amazing: Casts Defense down and Buster down on death for 3 turns.
  • All enemies in the battle are Assassins, so bringing in Casters is highly recommended. An all-Caster team does very well in this quest.
  • Buff removal to clear the enemy timer buffs can be effective to prevent the instant death. Note that the buff removal must happen before the enemy dies.
  • Similarly, Guts effects do trigger on being hit by instant death.
  • Debuff resistance seemingly does not prevent the instant death from succeeding.

Team Composition Recommendations

  • This is above all, a marathon fight. The HP pools of the Hassans are rather low and little damage is required. But the enemy will have plenty of time to chip away at the frontline. Therefore Class advantage is preferred and the team needs to be able to sustain itself.
  • Keeping up the pace is important. Target switch liberally and use AoE NPs to prevent the enemy from filling their charge bars.
  • AoE Caster Servants with the Two Gods Three Legs CE are therefore great as your main damage dealers as they can take out entire waves and bosses at once. Ideally, the frontline should include one or two AoE Casters with one or two Support Casters.
  • Healing is the best defense against these Hassans. Their relatively low damage can be out-sustained especially if a full wave is blown up (thereby preventing any attacks from occurring). Defense up buffs are countered by the Defense Down debuffs from the Hassans.
  • Targetable Guts is very powerful for this node if buff removal is not available. Do note that Guts does not stack and the event CE needs to trigger first before new Guts effects can be applied.
  • Having a backline filled with both damage dealing and support Casters is also useful just in case the frontline is overwhelmed.
  • Note that at least one backline Servant or Guts effect must be present when the last Cursed Arm uses his team instant death debuff, or else the fight will be considered a loss.
  • The debuffs from the various filler Hassan can be very debilitating and dangerous. Debuff cleanses, debuff immunities and even debuff resistances are great ways to counter them. Pool kills on the same Servant to cleanse multiple Hassan debuffs at once. Try to rotate cleanses to avoid excessive damage.
  • Recommended Mystic Code: Either the Atlas Academy Uniform for its debuff cleanse and Cooldown Reduction or the Chaldea Combat Uniform due to its stun and its ability to swap in Servants for a clutch play.
  • Main Recommended Playstyle:
    • Using AoE Caster + Supports
    • Do not hold back on the filler Hassan, but do have at least 1 NP ready to deal with the boss Hassans before their NP bar is charged.
    • If using AoE NP Servants, chip away at the HP of the boss Hassan to ideally kill them + the other two non-boss Hassans in one NP.
    • Either cast Guts on who will kill the boss Hassan (if HP has been chipped, the AoE Servant) or use Servants who can remove buffs(Medea/Amakusa/Melt/Jack) before killing them. (Update: For rerun, Instant Death Immunity is also an option to prevent the delayed Instant Death effect.)
    • Heal to sustain until the last Cursed Arm Hassan.
    • Have another Guts/ additional backline unit to survive through the teamwide instant death debuff.

Budget Strategy Recommendations:

  • General Strategies:
    • This Exhibition match is ironically the hardest yet also one of the easiest ones of the entire event. Hard because the mechanics of the fight prevent an easy soloing solution. Yet, easy because even new Masters with still-leveling Casters can clear the quest.

    • The more leveled Casters available, the easier this challenge is. Casters synergize extremely well together and a prepared Master can win this fight in many different ways.

    • Masters without a strong damage Caster of their own should try to borrow Leonardo Da Vinci. Her entire kit is well suited to nullify incoming debuffs, survive instant death and charge her NP quickly.

    • For Masters looking for more support, Tamamo and Merlin can cover both healing, offense and utility very well in this fight.

  • Strategy 1: Medea Debuff Removal
    • Sample Composition: Medea + Nursery Rhyme + Tamamo no Mae

    • Sample (f2p) Composition: Medea + Hans + Leonardo Da Vinci

    • Ideally, there should be no need to use the backline given that Medea should be able to remove the instant death debuffs.

    • Nevertheless, the Backline should be filled with Servants who can clean up the remaining Hassans, while also having either Guts or buff removal to avoid the final Curse Arm Hassan’s party-wide instant death.

    • Use Servants who can heal and/or charge up NP in your frontline to support and sustain Medea and the AoE Caster. Medea does not even have to be maxed for this strategy, although that would be ideal.

    • Arts Servants are recommended as they synergize better with Medea herself, and they can charge their NP in tandem.

    • With Rule Breaker dealing a good chunk of damage to the HP of the boss, there is a significantly lower need to chip away at their HP

    • Use Medea’s NP to remove the instant kill buff from the boss Hassans before using the AoE Caster’s NP.

    • WARNING: Do not equip a maxed Medea with the Two Gods Three Legs CE. If Rule-Breaker kills the Hassan, the Instant Death effect will occur anyway!

    • Recommended Composition: Medea + Arts AoE Caster + Arts Support Caster

  • Strategy 2: Caster Guts Spam
    • Sample Composition: Nitocris + Irisviel (Dress of Heaven) + Hans Christian Andersen

    • Backline should be filled with similar Servants as the frontline.

    • Other support Servants who can be used for NP/buff purposes: Zhuge Liang, Tamamo no Mae, Hans Christian Andersen.

    • Irisviel is a good support Servant with heal and Guts.

    • Nitocris and Da Vinci both have good overall AoE Damage potential while also having a self-Guts buff.

    • Use healers to sustain through the accumulated damage, and apply Guts to the principal damage dealer. Ideally, also have a heal saved up for when the Guts triggers, to heal the afflicted Servant from low health.

    • WARNING: Guts do not stack. Do not waste a Guts skill by activating it too early. Ideally, clear the entire wave when killing a boss Hassan to avoid being killed by the filler Hassan.

    • Recommended Composition: Combination of one or two AoE damage dealers and supports.

    • Casters with Guts or who can give out Guts have to make up at least one of the frontline. Damage Dealers:  Nitocris, Leonardo Da Vinci, Paracelsus von Hohenheim. Support: Irisviel (Dress of Heaven).

  • Strategy 3: Amakusa AoE Spam
    • Support Servants who can both heal and give NP are recommended in the frontlines to both make Amakusa survive longer and make him charge his NP up more easily.

    • The idea is to just keep Amakusa alive, and he eventually just wins the battle by spamming his NP. Only kill a boss Hassan after Amakusa used his NP on them.

    • Due to Amakusa’s buff removal prior to dealing damage, he ignores the basic premise of the fight.

    • Amakusa can be vulnerable to all the various Hassan debuffs, try to remove them periodically with the Atlas Mystic Code or a Servant.

    • Recommended Servants: Amakusa Shirou + two Support Servants (NP and sustain)

    • Sample Composition: Amakusa Shirou + Medea Lily + Zhuge Liang (El Melloi II)

Soloable for New Masters?

Technically possible, but definitely can be cleared with even lower level Servants.

  • Irisviel is capable of soloing this Challenge Quest through repeated Guts, proper skill timing and stacking multiple Instant Death Timers on herself. It is rather RNG-heavy though (crits/Instant Death Chance on NPs)
  • Try and feed Medea some levels with contents from the lottery. She can remove the Instant Death debuffs for you.
  • With the Two Gods Three Legs CE on a low level Medea, she can still deal decent damage yet avoid killing the boss Hassans.
  • Alternatively, run a protect the Amakusa composition with Servants like Hans and Mash and he will clear the fight for you.
