Overview

  • This is the second encounter vs Ashwatthama, with three break bars instead of two. This battle is relatively straightforward so long as strong damage dealers with proper support are available, and can be soloed as well (see videos).
  • Note that Ashwatthama is immune to Mental Debuffs, including Charm. He is still vulnerable to Stun, however (so long as it is not “Terror” stun, such as from Abigail Williams or Gilles (Caster)’s skills).
  • A field effect will cause Ashwatthama to lose 5,000 HP every turn, and randomly decrease ATK or DEF for a turn.
  • Ashwatthama also starts with a permanent 50% ATK buff.
  • After first break, Ashwatthama will inflict a 2 turn ATK Debuff by 50% on the frontline.
  • After second break, Ashwatthama will buff himself in ATK and NP Strength, while decreasing his own Crit Rate, all of which last indefinitely. Note the buffs are removable, however.

Team Recommendations

  • Lancer ST DPS is the recommended option, given their class advantage against the boss. Other ST DPS options or AoE Lancers can also technically work, but may make the fight last somewhat longer. When selecting a DPS, be wary that mental debuffs (such as Charm) are ineffective against this boss.
  • Taunt Support is particularly effective for this fight, given the boss’s NP hits a single target, and fires more often due to the shorter 3-bar Archer NP gauge. Mash Kyrielight is an excellent low cost option given her ability to both taunt and grant invincibility to a target, although any taunt Servant can do the job.
  • Damage / NP Gauge Support for the primary DPS Servant will also help the fight run much more smoothly. The usual suspects of Merlin, Skadi, Zhuge Liang, and Tamamo are all excellent options.
  • Last Stand Servants in the final slot of the backline can also act as a safety net in case the battle goes poorly. Cu Chulainn works particularly well as he enjoys class advantage during this encounter.
