[JP] Interlude Campaign 9

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

On the day before the launch of the rerun for Onigashima, the JP server launched a batch of new Interludes. What stood out is that buffs were received to one of the main draws of the Onigashima event: Minamoto-no-Raikou.

In light of this, and our intention to cover some more JP content, we'll cover each of the upgrades and they mean for the Servants involved. In addition, Servants who received an upgrade and are already released on the global server will receive some updates to their writeups this week, with Raikou especially getting a larger rewrite.

These Interludes are expected to hit the global Servers at the end of May 2021!

Bright Journey EX: Finally, an upgrade for Arthur that we've all been clamoring for. Arthur's kit has always had decent bases, with high base Attack and a very nice Extra card. What Arthur always lacked was some way to differentiate himself apart from his anti-trait against Giant Beast enemies.

Well, with the addition of a doubling of his Intuition values and a 50% Crit Damage bonus for 3 turns, on a 5 turn cooldown, he got a massive boost in both sustained damage performance and his burst damage. In a way, he becomes much more a mixture between Altria and Altera. The massive influx of stars is similar to a 1-turn Star Gathering buff in practice and nearly garantuees he will crit that turn. Masters who love to take out their Arthur for all sorts of quests will see him perform much better.

Still, his low NP damage relative to his peers puts him on the backfoot in comparison to someone like Altria after her Rank Up. He still won't farm as well due to the gap in his NP damage compared to the likes of Altria and even Mordred, while also lacking its refund component. Definitely a very nice upgrade, but not so large as to upset the established order within the AoE Buster Sabers entirely, especially given how powerful Altria's Rank Up has proved to be.

Four Gods Divination (Hakuro) A: Adding an impressive crit buff for the team, which together with her previous NP buff, makes her a much stronger support for all Quick and Buster Servants. Even after her last NP Upgrade, Osakebehime remained a situational pick at best simply because most of her support was based on actively using her and spread out over multiple turns - which isn't ideal for most farming situations.

With this upgrade, she is still not as on-demand of the main top tier Supports, but she was always pretty good at grinding out wins in scrappy situations with her personal durability and rather spammable NP if she is allowed to select AQQ chains. In fact, this buff may even buff her own solo potential just as much. It'll be interesting to see what Osakebehime can destroy personally rather than by supporting non-NEET Servants.

A nice buff for her especially compared to supports like Hans, even if it won't shake up the support meta. Masters who like the steady approach Osakabehime provides will like what she has to offer even more.

She's also a highly useful Servant to use with the Order Change command. With her buff removal, 40% Defense Down, 20% NP Charge, 50% Star Generation and 50% Crit buff, she's got many of the most desirable qualities for use with the Chaldea Combat Uniform.

∞ Chestnut Paste EX: Mysterious Heroine X (Alter) has already gained a massive upgrade from both her Rank Up (ETA: 1-2 months from now on Global!), and the presence of Scathach=Skadi. She's one of the premier Berserkers on the JP server whose NP Gain truly shines with Skadi.

Now, she is upgraded even more. With extra HP regen (1500 per turn for 3 turns extra), and a 1-hit crit buff for each of her Command Card types, her general performance has improved a fair bit when she is not fielded with Skadi. She is still highly reliant on Skadi though.

On the whole the buff is not very large if she is supported well offensively, but considering she was already very strong, it really just provides more tools for MHXA to work with.

Genji Arms Mastery EX: "Boost the revenue of the global server this week? Say no more, I know what to do." Thought Delightworks as they cackled maniacally and pressed the Raikou upgrade button.

And it is a rather nice upgrade at that, providing more buffs for a Servant who already has an overload of passives, steroids and good bases. Sure, the rise of Quick made her deal with much more competition, and her overall damage was always "good" rather than "great" when her anti-traits weren't in effect, but I am sure many thought that she was in a fine place balance-wise.

While it may stack additively to her anti-trait bonus (presumably that's why it's the non-standard 60%), the crit buff itself is massive at 60% even if it only lasts for 3 hits. Now, she is even more amazing for cleaning up waves and destroying things during CQs.

That said, without her Mystic Slayer active, her NP damage remains rather low, which does limit her farming potential compared to the NP spamming of Lancelot (Berserker) or the sheer NP damage of Frankenstein. Plus, Hijikata also recently got a nice upgrade to his NP.

Gàomì Luózhī Jīng B+: The only NP Upgrade of this batch, and for a Servant that will feature in a banner coming to global very soon. Rejoice, Masters who enjoy Disgaea, for this NP Upgrade is rather impactful with valuable buff removal utility.

Assassin of the Nightless City could always deal a high damage NP, but she could never sustain her own offense for very long given her middling generation stats and BBAQQ deck. Now, she won't have to. With her NP Upgrade and her total Attack Up (78%), she actually surpasses Jack in raw NP damage against normal enemies. At NP2 she already outdamages an NP-upgraded NP5 Shiki (Assassin)!

Still, getting her NP charged again is a problem though, and her Imperial Privilege is still chance-based which is rather unreliable at best. In fact, if her Imperial privilege doesn't activate her NP Damage is about the same as Shiki without being as easily recharged.

It's a really nice upgrade all things considered, especially for those who may have rolled, or will roll, multiple copies of her. Her combination of team support and damage is a decent package.
