Connection Problems

I started playing this game about 1 week ago and it was fine. But since about 4 days it takes so long to load other options and game modes. It says "connecting" for about 1 minute till it tells me "connection lost" and let me "retry" it. After 2-3 attempts it works but as soon as I try to select a Support-Servant f.e. it takes a minute again. When I restart my phone it works perfectly for like a minute and then is slow again.

My Phone: iPhone X
Wi-Fi: Very fast and constant, I checked it several times using different sites and it happens on mobile internet too!
Im playing the NA version but I live in europe. I used a US account to download it. But it doesnt matter if i stay on the US account or my real account, this keeps happening.

I read some others have this issue too but no one knows how to fix this and it drives me crazy. This game is nearly unplayable. Things you could do in seconds take more than minutes. Is there someone who knows how to fix this?

This won't fix the root cause of your issue, but it will probably alleviate the symptoms quite a bit: in the game, go to 'My Room', then click on 'Game Options', then scroll down to the section that says 'Download All' and click on 'Start Download'. It will take a while to finish, but once it does, I bet your game will run a lot smoother.

When you initially download FGO, it only downloads the minimum amount of data in order for the game to run. Then once you try to go into a stage that you've never been to before, or view a character model that you've nevee seen before, or view the profile/portrait of a servant or CE that you've never seen before, it will download the additional data that is associated with those things before you can actually view it. For whatever reason, it sounds like you are experiencing a really slow connection and it is taking a long time for that to happen. But if you do what I just said, then it will pre-download all of that data, so you don't have to download it as you go. That won't fix whatever is causing your connection problem, but it will make it so that you don't actually need the connection so much, so your game should become much more playable.

As far as why the connection problem exists in the first place, I'm not sure.

I tried downloading it and it does run better but the problem is still there. I tried to exchange event items and it took about 40 seconds for 1 item. As soon as „connecting“ appears in the corner it takes a lot of time.

Yes I’ve used mobile data and it doesn’t change anything. Is this a known iOS problem?

No problem, I'm glad it helped a bit. I'm not sure about iOS. My only iOS device is jailbroken, so FGO won't run on it, otherwise I'd test it for you. But it runs perfectly fine both on my Android phone and on an Android emulator on the PC. The only other advice that I can give you is to make sure that your OS and apps are up to date, make sure that you don't have any weird apps running in the background, etc. I don't know whether or not iOS has any firewalls or security software or whatever these days, but if so, try turning it off, or allowing an exception for FGO.

I tried the mobile data again and this time it worked. As long as I use mobile data it works fine. But I have to start the game using mobile data. When I tried it the other times I always switched to it in-game and didnt start it using mobile data

I started to have connection problems as well after the Prisma event started so it may be that. It should return to normal at some point.
