Overview

  • In what is perhaps one of the least expected developments, eternal enemies(?) EMIYA (Assassin) and Diarmuid (Saber) have joined forces to fight the Master of Chaldea on the battlefield. Each boss has 2 medium-sized health bars (ranging from about 250,000 to 300,000). While the stage itself isn’t that difficult overall, the bosses do have access to powerful Break effects, which can catch unsuspecting Masters off-guard.
  • Upon Break, Diarmuid will remove his debuffs and apply two Defense buffs (one permanent, one lasting for 3 turns) as well a Critical Damage buff on himself (3 hits). Combined with his special skill, which also buffs Critical Damage, his criticals can potentially oneshot even higher-rarity Servants, while his defense buffs make him much harder to kill.
  • Fortunately, all of Diarmuid’s buffs are removable, meaning that someone like Medea can be used to counter him very easily. Alternatively, damage dealers with Defense Ignore may be used to bypass his Defense buffs, and with a highly-buffed Archer damage dealer it is even possible to simply bruteforce through them.
  • EMIYA (Assassin) fully charges his NP bar upon Break, and gains an unremovable delayed buff that will further refill said NP bars at the end of every turn for 3 turns. Needless to say, this is a very powerful Break effect, as even though EMIYA’s NP damage is on the low side (a relatively healthy high-rarity Caster can survive one NP even with minimal buffs), his NP features a built-in NP Drain, and with the help of his second skill it can pierce through Invincibility/Evasion.
  • In regards to EMIYA (Assassin), the safest bet is to quickly burst him down after Break. However, things such as Stun and NP Drain do work great against his gimmick, wasting one of his effectively four NPs. It is also an option to Break him on the 3rd turn, giving the team some extra time to work with.
  • One of EMIYA (Assassin)’s special skills fills 1 NP bar for both him and Diarmuid, which should also be taken note of as it can cause enemy NPs to happen at an unexpected time. Similarly, Diarmuid’s NP has a small chance of instantly killing its target, and can hit at unexpected times.
  • With the above considerations in mind, there are many ways to approach this stage.
  • Overall, handling the Break mechanics is key to this stage, and is the factor that determines the ultimate success of the run. Indeed, Masters with less developed damage dealers may find it a good idea to Break the enemies one at a time in order to avoid being overwhelmed, while focusing on using counterclasses to burst them down in turn.

Team Recommendations

  • The most straightforward option to approach this stage is to utilize single-target Caster and Archer damage dealers to deal with each boss with the help of damage supports, accompanied by a couple extra back-up Servants.
  • Virtually any damage dealer can work with this strategy; aside from obvious options such as Altria Pendragon (Archer) and Chloe von Einzbern, take note of Archers with applicable supereffectives, such as Orion, Euryale, Gilgamesh, and Nikola Tesla (Diarmuid only), as well as those with Defense Ignore, such as Asagami Fujino, EMIYA (Alter) and EMIYA.
  • Caster options are more limited in comparison, but Servants such as Xuanzang and Illyasviel von Einzbern work great, as do Caster of Okeanos and Caster of Midrash. Above all, however, Medea is a very excellent, cheap option in this stage, being capable to both do decent damage to EMIYA (Assassin) as well as remove Diarmuid’s buffs.
  • For those lacking strong Caster damage dealer options, Alter Egos such as Mecha Eli-Chan can be used instead (she also removes defensive debuffs after her NP damage, which can be used against Diarmuid). Mysterious Heroine X (Alter) and Berserkers with Defense Ignore such as Sakata Kintoki and Lu Bu also work, being capable of quickly decimating a health bar.
  • Higher-end compositions work under generally similar principles. Skadi and Merlin both provide party-wide protections against enemy NPs (with the former also preventing any stray instant kills from Diarmuid’s part), and as supports are typically Casters, they will also contribute a decent amount of damage on EMIYA (Assassin).
  • As both of the bosses have single-target NP, Servants with Taunt can be used to tank them. It is even worth it to use the Chaldea Combat Uniform to switch-in a Taunter just for this purpose, which as an added bonus helps to rotate the backline Servants in (e.g. put the Taunter on the 6th slot, switch out someone from the frontline, and when the Taunter dies, whoever is on the 4th slot will come out).
