Overview

“I am the Seal Designation enforcer. My job was to use my power to capture and collect mages the Association assigned Seal Designation. If there are any dangerous mages around, leave it to me to dispose them.”

Manannan mac Lir, a pseudo-Servant with Bazett, a Seal Designation Enforcer as their vessel, arrives with the 2024 Valentine’s event as a unique ST Quick Alter Ego. Bazett is the very first Servant whose NP functions as a delayed counter attack, giving her a unique playstyle that cannot be replicated by other Servants.

The highlight of her kit, her Noble Phantasm Fragarach, gives Bazett Target Focus for a turn, buffs her ATK, and gives her a counter attack state that deals high damage, drops 10 flat Critical Stars, and debuffs Quick Resistance of the enemy (or enemies) that attack her. Since all enemies in a wave usually will act, if all enemies attack her, she is entirely capable of clearing an entire wave in 1 turn despite being a single target damage dealer. However, enemies that opt not to do an action targeting her (such as using self-buffing skills) will not activate the counter, and the counter cannot break an enemy’s Break Bar, instead leaving them at 1 HP, presumably to avoid allowing multiple break effects to occur in a single turn. Of note, she also has a unique passive that allows offensive buffs to last until the end of the enemy turn instead of the end of her own turn, so that her NP hits can take advantage of offensive buffs that would otherwise be ending on that turn.

Bazett’s skill set also provides her with a well-rounded arsenal largely composed of offensive buffs for herself. Seal Designation Enforcer is her primary damage steroid, providing Quick/Buster buffs, a Critical Damage buff, and anti-Caster bonus damage for three turns. Sea God’s Runes is the ever-handy 50% self NP gauge charger, which comes with an additional Crit Damage buff and Star Gather buff which last for a single turn. Finally, Red Branch Successor functions as her defensive skill, giving her a full turn of Evade (which can come in handy in combination with her NP’s target focus effect), along with a turn of Debuff Immunity and a couple Critical Stars to work with.

All in all, Bazett is a highly unique yet effective Quick-oriented damage dealer. She functions very well with other Quick Supports, and has an impressive damage ceiling since she can land multiple Fragarach shots on a single target if it attacks or attempts to debuff her multiple times. She is capable of looping her NP as well, functioning as a non-standard farmer that performs particularly well against Caster enemies. There isn’t another Servant quite like her, so Masters who are a fan of unique mechanics will have a great time with her in their Chaldea.

Strengths

High Damage Ceiling

Bazett’s NP, despite being single-target, can activate multiple times a turn for a target due to the fact that most enemies act multiple times per turn. Alternatively, she can give every enemy that takes their turn a taste of Fragarach and clear an entire wave in a single turn with her counter attacks. This includes waves that have six enemies, which can lead to a turn in which she activates her counter six times.

Strong Anti-Caster Damage

With the Alter Ego Class Advantage bonus of 1.5x along with her 30% anti-Caster damage buff, she sits at ~1.95x damage bonus against Casters, which essentially gives her nearly normal Class advantage against Caster enemies. This has the unfortunate demerit when many Caster boss enemies only act 2 times per round instead of three, reducing the total number of possible counter hits.

Weaknesses

NP Requires Taking Hits to Deal Damage

Bazett must survive incoming hits for her Fragarach counter to work, and this means she likely will eventually start accumulating damage in order to get counters off. She does have a 1-turn Evade skill to help offset this, although with repeated use, she will likely be taking a good amount of damage. As a note, the counter does not work if an attack activates a Guts buff on her.

Also, certain enemies (even in farming scenarios) can prefer to spend their turns activating self-buff skills, which can end up wasting the Counter state of Fragarach and make farming with Bazett somewhat inconsistent. It should be noted that the Counter activates if a debuff is used on Bazett, however. It may be best to avoid using Bazett for farming if facing enemies that have a chance of using self-buff skills. Having allies that have skill seal can help offset this and force the enemy to use an attack.

NP Cannot Break Bars

Likely to avoid game mechanic issues, her NP cannot actually reduce an enemy with break bars to 0 HP (such that it is impossible to break an enemy’s HP bar multiple times in one turn). This also means, however, that Masters will have to spend an extra turn to deplete that 1 remaining HP from the enemy to advance to the next break bar. This makes Bazett not the most ideal damage choice against break bar enemies in general.

Bazett’s skill set all enhance her performance as a damage dealer. The bulk of her damage comes from her NP’s counter effect, and leveling skills that best enable the counter give her the biggest boost in effectiveness. The general recommended leveling order is 2 > 1 > 3, with 2 being the most important to max due to giving 50% NP gauge at max level.

  • Seal Designation Enforcer A – Her primary damage buff, this skill improves Card damage, Crit damage, and the bonus damage vs Casters, all at decent levels. This is worth leveling at second priority, and taking it to max will maximize Bazett’s performance.
  • Sea God's Runes EX  – The prized 50% NP charger skill, this should be leveled first so that she has access to 50% charge on demand. The secondary effects of Crit Damage and Star Gather scale rather nicely with level as well, and this skill should be first priority for leveling.
  • Red Branch Successor B – Bazett’s defensive skill, this is the lowest priority for leveling since the only benefits are increased number of Stars generated, and the decreased skill cooldown. This can be left at 6, although for better cooldowns, maxing this skill is still helpful since Bazett often takes the brunt of enemy attacks due to her NP effect.

Craft Essence Recommendation

As a support Servant, Santa Martha’s CE choices are relatively flexible. She can hold Bond Up or Event Bonus CEs. Since she can provide a targetable Star Gather boost, Stars Per Turn CEs can help increase the pool of stars the party has to work with. She can also hold Taunt CEs so that enemies will target her when her stock of buffs are on cooldown. If desiring a quick NP for an additional offensive boost, Starting NP Gauge CEs are also fine.

  • Kaleidoscope / The Imaginary Element: With her 50% NP charge skill, Bazett can do 3-turn farming with an MLB Kaleidoscope and double Skadi support, or a non-MLB Kaleidoscope and her second Append skill maxed. Even outside those circumstances, having the extra starting NP charge allows her easier access to her NP, which helps get the Fragarach engine going.
  • Knights of Marines / Crimson Teacher’s Pointer / Warlords’ Rivalry / Traces of Christmases Past / Mission Start / Empty Garden / Cherry Icicle / One Summer / Golden Sumo: Boulder Tournament: These Hybrid Craft Essences provide 50% Starting NP Gauge, which Bazett can top off using her own skill, along with another offensive buff to boost her performance.
  • Black Grail / Heaven’s Feel: NP damage CEs maximize the amount of damage her counters deal with Fragarach. It should be noted that Black Grail’s HP demerit can be dangerous to deal with however, since Bazett will also be taking damage from enemy hits.
  • Volumen Hydrargyrum / Under the Sun: Invincibility/Evade Craft Essences that can help prolong Bazett’s survivability if she’s falling too early for her Counters to deal enough damage.

Character Info

The Celtic god of the sea, and a mage. Also said to be the ruler of the Otherworld.

The adoptive father of the sun god Lugh, he is also a god of giving, known for bestowing enchanted items upon many warriors, including Cú Chulainn and Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.

One of his most famous gifts is Fragarach, which has been passed down through the Fraga family to the present day.

Now, this sea god has materialized in our time as a Pseudo-Servant inhabiting the body of Bazett Fraga McRemitz, the latest descendant of the Fraga family. Bazett is a Seal Designation Enforcer for the Mage's Association, and she also seems to have (some) memories of a certain Holy Grail War...

Profile 1

Height/Weight: 172cm, 58kg
Origin: Celtic Mythology, Fate/hollow ataraxia
Region: Ireland
Alignment: Neutral-Good
Gender: Female
The real Manannan mac Lir is a male god.

Profile 2

Manannan is the god of the sea in Celtic mythology, the ruler of the Otherworld, and a powerful mage to boot. He is also the adoptive father of Lugh the sun god, Cú Chulainn's father.

One legend says that Manannan had a fae wife named Fand who fell in love with Cú Chulainn and had an affair with him. After Fand and Cú Chulainn parted ways, it's said that Manannan forgave his wife, but also used his magic cloak to hide her away so she could never be stolen from him again.

Incidentally, when Chaldea's Cú Chulainn was asked about this matter, he only grimaced and said "...I don't remember anything about that."

Profile 3

Seal Designation Enforcer: A
A fighting style embedded deep in Bazett Fraga McRemitz's body that is meant to be used against mages. It refers to the overall level of ability she possesses to take down dangerous mages that the Association has selected for seal designation, and includes martial arts prowess, magecraft capability, and mental state.

Sea God's Runes: EX
Bazett's rune magecraft, which draws on Manannan's power. Although the Manannan who resides in her Servant Spirit Origin is a Divided Spirit, he is still a Divine being. While one would think this would let Bazett employ a wide array of normally unthinkable magecraft, as a vessel, she is too inept to do more with this power than using it to enhance the spells she was already capable of. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. By focusing the sea god's vast power on ridiculously simple uses (like making her fists stronger), Bazett effectively trades versatility for incredible destructive force.

Profile 4

[Fragarach]
Rank: EX
NP Type: Counterattack
Range: 1 - 50
Maximum Targets: 1

The God of War's Sword of Devastation.
A dagger Manannan mac Lir bestowed upon Lugh the sun god. Also known as the "Sword of Reverse Light" and "Answerer (that which emerges last and cuts first)". As a Mystic Code optimized for counterattacks, it has a reverse-causality ability that enables it to always land before the opponent's attack. Although it is the same Noble Phantasm as the one that has been passed down from Carrier of the Gods to Carrier of the Gods in the Fraga family, Bazett is able to use it at a more fundamental level thanks to being the Pseudo-Servant vessel for Manannan, its original owner.

Profile 5

[Fragarach Aonbharr]
Rank: EX
NP Type: Counterattack
Range: 1 - 50
Maximum Targets: 1

The God of War's Sword of Freedom.
It took almost a month to create the Fragarach Bazett used as a Seal Designation Enforcer. But, as Fragarach's original owner, Manannan is able to quickly and easily create a variety of different Fragarachs for different purposes. This Noble Phantasm is built primarily on Manannan's nature as the god of the sea, and on her magical white steed Aonbharr, who is able to run freely on the surface of the ocean. Here, Manannan takes Aonbharr, her white horse said to be the embodiment of waves and foam, and transforms him into sea foam that she then molds into the Sword of Reverse Light. Essentially, this is a Fragarach that the sea god makes out of, well, foam.

Victory 3 Phew. I want to practice so as not to forget those weight shift movements.
Victory 4 I've called in the cleanup crew. Go ahead and go to sleep.
Level up 1 I can't believe I grew without training...
It's actually a bit unsatisfying...
Level up 2 Thank you.
Improving basic abilities is good for the both of us.
Level up 3 I feel nimbler! Amazing!
Oh...uh...
I'm sorry. That was a little unnecessary.
Ascension 1 So this is Ascension...
Not only have I bulked up, but my build and specs also changed... It's no wonder a mere mage like me can wield the power of the great Manannan.
That aside...wearing ancient Celtic combat gear makes sense, but don't you think this is a bit too tight on me?
Ascension 2 I've done some research on the other Servants' Ascensions...and it seems like my Ascension is a bit plain.
This is the opportune moment for me to change, so I could experience a more dramatic change...
It's not like I'd die unless I'm in a suit or anything...
Ascension 3 Hello Master. My name is Manannan mac Lir. Of course, I am also Bazett.
My appearance...?
I could have looked however I liked, but I thought I'd take this opportunity to appear in the guise of something she desired...
Whoa there. The girl inside seems to really be causing a ruckus at her own embarrassment, but obviously that doesn't bother me. After all, the girl is a naturally cute woman.
Don't we look good!?
Ascension 4 Phew. Now I know. Humans work best in clothes they are most familiar with and comfortable in. And I too feel at ease in my work clothes...
Disappointed in this change since I looked so good before?
W-well, thanks. And it's not that I'm never going to wear it again...you know...
But I personally believe Manannan mac Lir is a god who gives. That included Lugh, Cú Chulainn, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne... And if a god like that chose me as a vessel... Fufu...what do you think, Master?
I may be seen as all work and no play, but actually...well, I suppose that would mean I would be seen as a homely person who warmly embraces others, now wouldn't it?
Bond Level 1 I am the Seal Designation enforcer. My job was to use my power to capture and collect mages the Association assigned Seal Designation.
Capturing those who hide and flee...I'm like the magecraft world's police.
If there are any dangerous mages around, leave it to me to dispose them.
Bond Level 2 Most of my current consciousness is composed of the human named Bazett, but I can definitely tell that the god Manannan resides within me. The adopted father of the sun god Lugh, you know?
(Sigh) This may be an honor for the Fraga family, but honestly it's a lot of pressure on me...
Bond Level 3 Master. I'm going to tell you this in advance, but there may be time when Manannan takes the reins of my body. If that happens, my hair or outfit may be different than my usual style. If that happens, I would appreciate it if you didn't laugh at me, or...if you think I look good, please let me know afterwards! Otherwise, I wouldn't know!
Bond Level 4 I hear you didn't come from a family of mages, but that you were a recruit who had an affinity for being a Master. I can only imagine you went through many trials and hardships before you became a full-fledged Master.
I come from an ancient, divine family line, and so I genuinely respect you as a person because you go to such great lengths to meet everyone's expectations. Which is why...we're going training! We'll do it together!
Bond Level 5 I've gotten used to life as a Servant. I feel like I learned so much about what a Master and Servant relationship is like...
To be frank, a connection like this feels very comforting. Eh? N-no I don't want to say it again. It's embarrassing, so I'm only saying it once.
My only wish is that I've offered you the same kind of sentiment to you as you did for me.
Conversation 1 We are adequately prepared. Let's head out to our mission.
Conversation 2 Master and Servant... Yes, I do know that kind of relationship very well. It's strange to think I'm a Servant now...
Conversation 3 The role of a Servant is obviously fighting. There could not possibly be weak Servants who just taunt the enemy or rely on their Master's abilities.
There are none, okay!?
Conversation 4 (Caster of Okeanos) A single bowl of this perfect nutritional meal called kykeon can provide sustenance for all!? Well I'm not complaining about its effects, but it's just that...it seems underwhelming because it doesn't feel like it would fill you up!
Conversation 5 (Cu Chulainn) What are you staring at? If you have something to say, then speak up, Lancer!
Conversation 6 (Gilles de Rais (Caster), Paracelsus von Hohenheim, Mephistopheles, Avicebron, Chen Gong) There appears to be a handful of dangerous mages in Chaldea. There's no way I would go and send them to the "bottom of the bridge," but I won't hesitate to act if something happens.
Conversation 7 (Karna (Santa)) The hero of the Mahabharata is a Santa and a...boxer?
I really don't understand what that's about, but it's an honor that I can have a proper bout with a real soldier. Now prepare yourself!
Conversation 8 (Scathach, Scathach (Assassin)) So you are the queen of the Land of Shadows, Scáthach!
I-if you don't mind, would you train me as well?
Conversation 9 (Amor (Caren)) The god Amor!? There's no way the god of love would be as s hardy as her!
Ugh...if it wasn't for that stupid rule forbidding allied Servants from fighting against each other, I would shoot my Fragarach into that bazooka in a heartbeat! And you know what, quit calling me Bazenan!
Conversation 10 (Anra Mainiiu) I feel like someone...was just behind me...
Well no, it isn't unpleasant or anything. Actually it feels more like I'm being protected, or there's someone rooting for me...
And I also hear this tick tocking coming from a familiar-sounding clock...
Likes I don't remember ever fighting with such a large group. While I do worry about being responsible for others, I like that there's always someone to play boardgames with.
Dislikes I don't consider myself a workaholic, but when I'm suddenly given a day off without notice, I really don't know what to do with myself...
About the Holy Grail A Holy Grail...a wish-granting device capable of granting any wish. And a battle over that device, called the Holy Grail War, was conducted...and it ended. The conclusion of that war, and my own final fate... Well I suppose that's something I should talk about another time.
During an Event It appears there's an event going on.
I advise you to fulfill some missions amidst all the excitement.
Birthday Your birthday...? Crap...how could I allow myself to forget!?
I-I will prepare a gift for you, so please wait a moment, Master. What should it be? Think, Bazett, think!
Maybe a boxing glove...a dumbbell... No, maybe it should be a much more feminine thing...!
(Gasp) Handmade...right, maybe a handmade...
Punching bag!?
Summon Nice to meet you. My name is Bazett Fraga McRemitz. I have been summoned as the vessel for the Divine Spirit Manannan mac Lir. You may call me Bazett, Manannan, or even Mananaaan...whatever is easiest for you. I'm well-versed in tasks like fieldwork and retrieving hazardous goods. Please do not hesitate to assign me to especially difficulty missions.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 1 This is your record so far.
I tend to focus more on the training itself rather than maintaining a record, so tenacious efforts like this are very new to me.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 2 The more training runs you do, the more you are rewarded...
Is Chaldea some sort of paradise?
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 3 There's no need to fret. You need to just work everyday, little by little, to see your efforts come to fruition.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 4 Taking a break in chocolates? Yes, I understand that would be necessary. Consuming too many sweets would be bad for your body.
Oh. Would you care for some sparring while you're at it?
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 5 Training the wrong way may be pointless, or even have adverse effects on you.
Which is why checking out the information would be beneficial.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 8 Welcome to the shop!
Th-this is quite embarrassing. I honestly think a vending machine would have been more efficient...
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 9 Don't worry, I don't have a shotgun hidden under the counter.
My gun is enough.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 10 Fast, affordable, delicious.
That's the kind of shop I strive to run.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 11 A chance to double up!
Allow me to explain. You have a chance of getting double the items if you beat me in a match!
The match is of course...the always peaceful option of arm wrestling!
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 12 A good choice. I do hope you use it for me next time.
...After all, I tend to buy useless shoes...
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 15 Welcome♪ Enjoy my hospitality to your heart's content.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 16 Welcome to Manannan mac Lir's hospitality shop! Honestly I would prefer to stock this shop with more Fragarach-caliber items...
Huh? This is enough?
You really have no material desires, do you?
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 17 Are you sure you're good with that? Maybe I should throw in something on the house...
But I've been told I'm not allowed to give away extra stuff.
Aw man...
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 18 Hmmm, that moment when I see the happy faces of brave warriors receiving gifts from me...
It's such a wonderful, indescribable moment.
Manannan's Souvenir Valentines - The Chocolate Tree and the Goddess's Choice 19 Thank you for your exchange. Care for a battery of seconds then?

Damage 2 (Asc 3/4) Hm...
Incapacitated 1 (Asc 3/4) They're pretty forthcoming.
Incapacitated 2 (Asc 3/4) Please give me some time...
Victory 1 (Asc 3/4) Have a good journey.
Victory 2 (Asc 3/4) Okay. Next.
Victory 3 (Asc 3/4) What's the latest trendy item?
Victory 4 (Asc 3/4) I hope you are satisfied.
Level up 1 (Asc 3/4) It's not often I'm the recipient.
Level up 2 (Asc 3/4) Embers...I suppose that's a different type of hospitality.
Bond Level 1 (Asc 3/4) My hobby is entertaining people.
While I would love to offer you something, my options are quite limited right now because I am in this clumsy child's body. The only thing that has been constant is my brute strength. Though that in itself is quite troubling...
Bond Level 2 (Asc 3/4) Let's think of this from a different perspective. I realized that I at least have strength, so perhaps I can solve all my problems with my fists and make that into a gift for you. Problems in battle, knowledge, money, and even love...I will give my all to help you with them all. However, I cannot guarantee you that it will end up the way you hope!
Bond Level 3 (Asc 3/4) This girl's Fragarach... I like that she's been passing it down so carefully all these years, but I can't believe it takes a whole month to make just one.
Humans sure are hard workers. I'm compelled to give her a gift...
Bond Level 4 (Asc 3/4) Fragarach is both a sword and concept. It has no set shape or form. I gave Lugh one, the very one that was passed down to this child, and there's one I use by mixing it with the white foam horse Anval... They're all Fragarach. There are plenty of other ways to use it too, but I really can't use it willy-nilly in my current state. A shame.
Bond Level 5 (Asc 3/4) You could well go up against those who served me in the past. If so, I seriously need to offer you something...
But this is a problem, since I didn't bring anything with me. I did have plenty of useful tools...
What? It's fine? You're satisfied with me just fighting with you? Fufu. You're so selfless, yet you make your desires so clear. Very well. Along with the mage who has been passing my skills down so faithfully it's almost worrying, we shall guide you to victory, Master.
Conversation 1 (Asc 3/4) Shall we go somewhere, Master? I can show you around if it's somewhere I know. The sea...the land...even a different world.
Conversation 2 (Asc 3/4) My current being is made up of only a portion of Manannan. And while I did indeed adopt and raise Lugh, that's no reason for you to humble yourself in front of me.
Conversation 3 (Asc 3/4) Just like Bazett, I too am unfamiliar with being a Servant. And while the typical position of mentor and mentee is reversed, I do hope you will teach me many things, Master.
Conversation 4 (Cu Chulainn, Cu Prototype, Cu Caster, Cu Alter) (Asc 3/4) Oh hello, Cú Chulainn. Is there something that you want? I'm willing to give you anything.
...Other than a wife.
Hahaha, just a bit of dark humor there.
Conversation 5 (Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Saber)) (Asc 3/4) Hello, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. How is your spear working out for you? I just have one tip for you...
I don't think stealing someone else's significant other is a good idea.
Conversation 6 (Fergus mac Roich) (Asc 3/4) Love is a wonderful thing, and I shall support you in it. But listen well, Fergus mac Roich. Stay away from other peoples' wives.
Conversation 7 (Mordred) (Asc 3/4) A helmet that conceals the secret of your pedigree...
That seems to be quite the formidable magical tool, but that's not a good way to describe it.
It really is bad.
Conversation 8 (Queen Medb, Queen Medb (Saber)) (Asc 3/4) What is it, Medb? Why are you glaring at me?
What's that? I'm pissing you off because it looks like something happened between me and Cú? Well actually, I was also wondering about that too. Aside from the issue with my wife, I also feel like something happened with Bazett...but she is claiming she doesn't remember anything at all.
If it's true, I will allow you to hold a girls' night out and interrogate her!
Likes (Asc 3/4) What I like? Let's see...I do like to see people smiling.
Dislikes (Asc 3/4) What I dislike? Let me be very clear: unfaithfulness is strictly forbidden.
About the Holy Grail (Asc 3/4) The Holy Grail? If I had one, I wouldn't hesitate to loan it out. Well actually, I may have already loaned some out without my realizing.
During an Event (Asc 3/4) There seems to be an event happening.
Hospitality for the seasons...I'm getting excited.
Birthday (Asc 3/4) Oh, it's your birthday.
Then I need to give you something more extravagant than usual. I wonder what would be appropriate?
Hmmm...
Perhaps an even more forceful punch...?
