Freedom and Justice - Should You Pull?

Pilots!

Today we've got another addition of Should You Pull, brought to you by AetherRose on our discord server. Check out my assessment of this week's banner below! Additionally, thank you very much to Daryl Lorenz’s banner art and Ursa Noodle [Francis] for their Parts List with a Heat Map for significantly helping my research pace!

WOW! What an anticipated banner and I can’t wait to dig into it! I especially want to give this a good look because of the INCREASED PULL RATES! I’m pretty excited to find out whether this banner is good and if the increased pull rates turns this into a legendary banner.

This week we got 4,350 Haro Chips, and here’s how:

  • 100 - Login Bonus
  • 140 - Daily Achievements
  • 150 - Event Login
  • 390 - Mission Completion
  • 170 - Arena Participation
  • 3480 - Ono Mission Completion

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.4% for a single Part, which is 25x 10-pulls or 250 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 2,700 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Power, B in Piercing, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats, letters, and numbers are at Max Value.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a limited banner, which means it will NOT be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule when the week is up.

Banner Grade: S

Summary: This banner has a 2.8% (8.75%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0.8% (2.5%) chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

The doubled rates are absolutely insane here. None of these Parts are really very unique or fill special niches, besides the Justice Shield, but boy are there a lot of solid ones here.

I would not skip.

Prime Pool percentages are in parenthesis

Head: B+

We’re off to a good start with this above average Head! Like many Heads before it, the terrible EX Skill plagues it, however its above average stats makes up for that. While it does have Protag, I don’t consider it a good fill for melee because of parts like Tallgeese II.

Chest: B

Alright, coming back down we’re looking at an average Chest with slightly above average Armor and slightly below average Resistances. The Part Trait enhances Strong Melee Attacks by a flat amount when above an Armor threshold, which is honestly pointless, in my opinion. The Protag Word Tag works well with melee though.

Arms: A

Heyyyyyyy our first A! Their above average Armor and Defenses earns a spot in spite of its abyssmal M.Atk for the following reason:
Part Trait - With Power attribute (self) Sp. Shot power boosted 30%.
Hot damn! Not the best thing in the world, but it’s definitely placed up there as one of the niche Shooter arms our ranged compatriots need so desperately.

Legs: A+

Alright alright alright...so what if I told you these were a ranged version of the Red Astray Frame Legs? Good news, because they are! Above average S.Atk, best Armor among Legs, and above average Resistances are only the start of what makes this beautiful. It’s also coupled with a ranged EX Skill with D/A and 73/19s CD with the special effect of healing Squad for 48% and boosting own S.Atk by 29%. I love this part and the increased rates are looking more effective by the Part.

Backpack: A-

Another good Part incoming! It has one of the best Armor stats and S.Atk stats among Backs, and to top it off it’s paired with a A/D 60/15s ranged EX Skill. Not the best EX Skill ever, being Piercing, but it’s something and the stats sure hold up.

Lacerta Beam Sword: B-

Below average M.Atk and Part Trait saved only by having Protag on it, but only just barely.

Lupus Beam Rifle: B-

Average S.Atk and Job Gauge Boost isn’t great unless on Supporter or Defender. With the highest Armor among all LR Weapons, this just barely fills a niche of being melee geared, but there are better options for that.

Laminated Anti-Beam Shield [Freedom]: A+

This Shield has the highest balanced Resistance score, making it an excellent stat stick, not to mention the highest Armor and very solid Defenses. If it were only stats, it’d be A-, but given the D/B+ 21/3s EX Skill attached to it (in case you need it), and the Protag Word Tag, it’s bumped up.

Aesthetics: S

I get it, okay? The gunpla design is PHENOMENAL. This isn’t even in the list of gundams I like, but that’s because my list is usually series attached, but I can’t deny the absolute fabulous energy this gunpla gives off in spades.

Justice Gundam

Head: D-

The only thing saving this Part from the abyss that is F is the fact it has ridiculously high Armor. I cannot believe how bad the S.Atk and EX Skill and Word Tags are on this Head. I have honestly no idea what they were thinking. Even as a stat stick, the Armor only goes so far and you’d be better off with a Head that buffs or something.

Chest: B

Average stats, bad Part Trait, and has a  decent Word Tag, Ace Excel. This is a pretty run of the mill entry.

Arms: S

WOOF. That M.Atk is hot stuff. I feel pretty warm under the collar right now. It’s paired with an excellent and rare melee EX Skill with ranged properties. It had A/D on a 21/3s CD. Big love for this Part!

Legs: B

This is an all around solid part with above average M.Atk, average stats aside, and a good EX Skill if you need to fill the third slot. D/B+ at 21/3s. The downside here is the Word Tag is Ace Excel. I’m honestly struggling to understand why they keep releasing ranged Parts with melee Word Tags and vice versa.

Backpack: S

Heyyyyy it’s the Backpack Bisect! With above average M.Atk for Backpacks and an EX Skill which screams, “Pair me with RAF or Freedom Legs” you won’t be disappointed. The EX Skill boasts an intimidating D/A 79/20s with 48% Squad Recovery and 29% M.Atk to the Squad.

Laminated Anti-Beam Shield [Freedom]: B+

Average stats, although it comes with a decent niche of increasing Buff EX Skill time up and has the Ace Excel Word Tag, making it an excellent Support Shield, and the first 4* Supporter Shield, to my knowledge.

Aesthetics: A

The horn is cool, the Body is generic, and the Legs are cool, but then you have those awful looking Arms and Backpack. Oof, pretty hit-and-miss.

AI Pilots Duo Maxwell (4*) and Sayla Mass (3*)

pilotBanner

Banner Grade: B+

The Pilots aren’t the best I’ve seen, to be honest, and the Pilot Banner does not benefit from increased rates.

Pilot: A-

Duo Maxwell has the highest stats of any In-Fighter and a below average Part Trait of not recoiling 20% of the time when S type. Compared to Lowe, his higher M.Atk is a big improvement, although Lowe’s CRIT rate boost is nicer. That said, 14% CRIT rate is not a very big increase in DPS, so without having done the math, I’d assume Duo ends up being better since he has similar damage without his Part Trait, and with his Part Trait added on ends up outclassing Lowe. The only reason this still isn’t a great pull is the fact he’s an In Fighter, an inversatile job license with a lot more significant cons than pros.

Sayla Mass: B+

This is a Pilot I didn’t expect to like. Looking at the stats, they’re abysmal. However, she has Vernier consumption down 20% with S type and the Support Type Word Tag. These factors combined makes her a unique and fun choice for Manually played Supporter.
