Gundam Kyrios Parts Review

Hello Pilots!

Whew, we have a doozy of an event this time around, and a doozy of a week in general. Not only do we have a new event suit to review, but it came with 3 friends from previous events AND we have a new Arena suit as well! So get ready for the biggest review I've done yet, as I cover ALL of these suits. So let's get into it!

Head – D

Below average defenses, average offenses, bad word tags in Transformer and High Mobility, the only good thing about this Head is the trait, that reduces enemy Shooting Power by 25%...if you have a machine gun equipped. What would have been a strong defensive trait is undermined by a bad restriction and bad stats. It still could see some use in some hyper niche scenario, I'm sure, since the effect of the trait is very strong even despite the hoops, but overall this one is a pass.

Torso – C

Average defenses, high Melee ATK, average Shot ATK, bad word tags in Transformer and High Mobility, and a trait that gives you a 14% chance to survive a fatal blow, assuming you've taken some damage beforehand. The trait is nice, but more of a cute bonus as opposed to something to build around, the real thing that makes this Torso good is the Melee ATK value of 561. It's not spectacular, but it's serviceable if you don't have something better.

Arms – D

Low defenses, high Melee ATK, average Shot ATK, bad word tags in Transformer and High Mobility, and a trait that gives your EX skills a flat damage boost. I don't see much of a reason to use these over the Artemis Arms, unless it's because you want to use a specific shield alongside them. This is a pass otherwise.

Legs – F

Average stats all around, bad word tags in Transformer and For Tundra, these come with the typical Leg “hidden small weapon” EX skill that so many Legs have. I don't see a reason to ever use these over the Artemis Legs outside of aesthetics, cause they do look pretty sharp.

Back – A

Ah, here we have something great! Average stats all around, bad word tags in Transformer and For Tundra, but the shining light is the EX Skill, which is the Trans-Am awakening skill. This exact same skill can be found on the Dynames back. This Awakening is one of the best Shot ATK Awakenings that exists, boosting your Shot ATK by 29%, your Beam Resist by 49% and your Speed by 20%, letting you move around faster and leave behind those Trans-Am after images. This isn't too much worse than the Dynames back, losing out on a negligible amount of Shot ATK, it's really the loss of the Long-Range tag that hurts the most. The flipside is that this piece is much easier to max out it's Trans-Am. Absolutely invest in this and get copies to max it out.

Ranged Weapon – C

This is a weapon intended for Melee suits, with it's above average defenses and very low Shot ATK. It has bad word tags in Transformer and High Mobility, and the trait of increasing reload speed is something that would be nice if it was on a better part. As is, the trait will see basically zero use. I'd pass on this, personally.

Shield – D

This shield doesn't offer any ATK stats, has the bad word tags Transformer and For Tundra, and has a filler EX Skill. Pass.

That's it for the Kyrios, we have one really good part and the rest is pretty mediocre. But next, let's look at the Rising Gundam, which was the first event suit ever back when the game first launched!

Rising Gundam Parts Review

Head – F

Uh oh, not starting strong. This head is more or less inferior to the Artemis head. A pitifully low Shot ATK alongside the Mobile Fighter and Long-Range word tags, and a Vulcan EX Skill, make this Head a hard pass.

Torso – D

Above average defenses, average ATK values, Mobile Fighter and Long-Range word tags, and a trait that boosts Strong Melee Attacks by 20%. This could see use in a Strong Melee focused build, I guess?

Arms – C

Oh, hey, these are actually servicable. High Melee ATK, below average defenses, Mobile Fighter and Gundam Type word tags, and a filler Shot EX Skill. Like a better version of the Kyrios Arms, use these if you want to use a specific shield instead of using the Artemis Arms.

Legs – D

Man, I remember the days I thought these (and the Blitz Gundam legs that are almost identical) were Best in Slot for Shooters. Average stats, Mobile Fighter and Gundam Type word tags, these come with a trait that boosts your Shooting Crit Chance by 17%. Only regular attacks can crit, not EX Skills, and crits are only +10% extra damaage, so the trait represents an average damage increase of 1.7%. Not spectacular. Pass on these.

Back – D

Average stats, Mobile Fighter and Long-Range word tags, and a Debuff EX Skill that lowers both defenses by 39%. Debuff skills are better than filler EX Skills, generally, but are worse than Buff skills by a large margin. +39% on a stat that is over 10,000 is worth more than -39% on a stat of 5000, especially once you factor in the damage formula making ATK values 3 times more important than DEF/RES values combined. This is another pass.

Well, the Rising aged like a glass of spilled milk. It's a shame too, as I really like the Rising's design, especially that it uses a Beam Bow. Next up, is the Tallgeese II.

Tallgeese II Parts Review

Head – S

Now THIS is a part! Even months after release, this is still one of the best Head parts in the game, and a mainstay of high end Melee builds. Average stats, above average Shot ATK, Commander and Long-Range word tags, and the insanely good Offense Up (A) EX Skill, boosting both your Melee and Shot ATK stats by 39% when maxed out. Invest in this, get it maxed out, and enjoy the benefits of a great event part. This is a great budget Dynames Head for Shooters as well, making it very versatile.

Torso – F

Ouch, a fall from grace. This part has above average defenses, average ATK, Commander and Long-Range word tags, and a trait that boosts your EX Skill Piercing by 22% when facing “For Space” enemies. Firstly, For Space is a bad tag, so finding enemies with it in Arena will be rare, and secondly, boosting Piercing by 22% is pretty weak given how weak Piercing as a stat is. I don't see a reason to ever use this over the Artemis Torso.

Arms – F

Oh no, it continues. These Arms are basically a worse version of the Artemis Arms in every way except the word tags, sporting the Commander and Long-Range tags. You'd think the word tags, and being an Arm + Shield part to apply those tags, would save this part, but quite frankly the stats are just too low to bother with.

Legs – F

I guess all the power of the Head had to come from somewhere, with the other parts suffering for it. These have average stats all around, Commander and High Mobility word tags, and a trait that boosts Mid Shot ATK by 14% vs a “For Space” enemy. It's already bad enough that it only boosts Mid-Range shots, but then it requires an enemy most people will never fight? Pass.

Back – F

This piece is almost identical to the legs. They swap RES stats around, and have a different trait, but are the same otherwise. The trait boosts Shooting Power by 25% with a “For Space” enemy. Much better payoff than the last one, but unfortunately that doesn't change this part basically never seeing use, especially since the Nadleeh a few weeks back gave us a much better version of that trait.

Well, the Tallgeese II also aged really poorly, with only the Head being of any use. Next up, and last of the returning event suits, the Gundam Gusion.

Gundam Gusion Parts Review

Head – D

Above average defenses, average Melee ATK, low Shot ATK, the bad word tags Heavy Armor and For Space, and a Vulcan EX Skill. The only reason to use this is if you're building a tank with a focus on Armor and you don't have something with better Armor.

Torso – D+

Above average defenses, average ATK, the bad word tags Heavy Armor and For Space, and a filler EX Skill. Like the head, the only reason to use this is to build an Armor focused tank. At least this one has a particularly high Armor value on it for that purpose.

Arms – F

Average defenses, low ATK, average Shot ATK, Heavy Armor and Mid-Range word tags and a filler EX Skill. Pass.

Legs – F

Above average defenses, average ATK, Heavy Armor and High Firepower word tags and a filler EX Skill. Pass.

Back – F

Identical to the legs, just swapped RES stats and a different filler EX Skill. Pass.

Gusion Hammer – C+

Above average defenses, low Melee ATK, Heavy Armor and High Firepower word tags, and a filler EX Skill. This part is clearly intended for use by Shot ATK suits to get some extra defenses from the Melee slot, and it does a fine job at that role.

Submachine Gun – B

Above average defenses, low Shot ATK, Heavy Armor and Mid-Range word tags, and a trait that reduces enemy Shooting Power by 25% when used by a Defender. This is the Melee ATK version of the Hammer, being a defensive stat stick in the Ranged slot, but it's particularly nice on Defenders who get an extra boost of defense from it. I'd grab some of these if you don't have anything else to spend materials on.

I'd say the Gusion aged poorly, but that would be a lie. It was bad even when it released. At least the weapons have a niche.

I have one last suit to go over, and it's a big one. Johnny Ridden's High Mobility Gelgoog! This suit is the new Arena reward suit, available from the Arena shop at least until March 1st, 2020.

High Mobility Gelgoog [Johnny Ridden] Parts Review

Head – C

Average defenses, average Melee ATK, low Shot ATK, Ace Exclusive and High Mobility word tags, and a trait to boost EX Skill Power by 25% when using a Bazooka. This head is better for Melee than Shot suits, but it isn't anything special at that role and requires a Bazooka to make use of it's trait. Most suits would be better off running one of the Offense Up or Combat Stance heads instead in this slot.

Torso – D

Average defenses, average ATK, Ace Exclusive and High Mobility word tags, and a trait that reduces Shot damage taken by a flat 20 when using an In-Fighter Pilot. Honestly this is a pass.

Arms – S

Oooooooof. These are good. Like, really good. Like, actually amazing. Low defenses, average Shot ATK, high Melee ATK, Ace Exclusive and High Mobility word tags, and a trait that boosts Melee Power by 25% when using a Technique Attribute suit. These are insane. These put the Nadleeh Arms to shame. They even beat out the Barbatos 4th Form Arms if the Barbatos is still at trait lvl 1. Grab these for your melee suit and max them out ASAP, they are super, super good.

Legs – D

Average stats all around, Ace Exclusive and Zeon word tags, and a filler EX skill. Pass.

Back – C

Average stats all around, Ace Exclusive and Zeon word tags, and a trait that increases Vernier recovery when you've taken some damage. The trait is negligible, it's mostly the Ace Exclusive word tag dragging this part up to a C rating.

Rocket Launcher – B

Above average defenses, low Shot ATK, Ace Exclusive and High Mobility word tags, and a trait that boosts Job Gauge by 13% when using an In-Fighter pilot. This is similar to the Gusion's Submachine gun, except the trait boosts offenses instead of defenses, making it more aggressive.

Shield [High Mobility Gelgoog (Johnny Ridden)] – A

This shield doesn't offer ATK, but it does come with Ace Exclusive and Zeon word tags, as well as a trait that reduces Enemy Shooting Power by 25% as long as you are above half health. The trait is really strong, and more importantly, this is only the 2nd non-Sokai limited Shield to have Ace Exclusive, the other being the 2* GN-X Shield. Being an on-demand Ace Exclusive Shield, without having bad stats and even having a good trait really makes this part shine.

Johnny Ridden – S

The Crimson Lightning himself, Johnny Ridden rockets onto the scene and quickly becomes the best In-Fighter Pilot in the game. Sporting a solid 1142 Melee ATK, the admittedly weak Zeon and For Space word tags, it's his trait that really makes him shine, boosting Buff EX Skills by 15% when using a Technique Attribute suit.

Man, what a week! We have some S rank parts available this week, and a couple of As, which is a lot better than the events usually have. I know we also have the Red Comet Beta going on right now, but this is one of those events you might want to spend some EN refills on, especially if you don't have the good parts from the Tallgeese II and Gusion. That's all for now folks, I'll see you next week!
