F91/BUSTER GUNDAMS AND CAPSULE MEDALS

Welcome back, Pilots!  We've got a mid-week event crunch here, with some need-to-know information concerning the surprise events that we had no previous knowledge of.  Honestly, I'm not quite sure what Bandai's reasoning was here, but I'm not exactly one to complain. First up is this all-new banner for Gundam F91 and Buster Gundam.

f91buster

We had seen some information awhile back concerning these two Gundams, and that it was listed as an "event login bonus".  However, we had absolutely no clue what method in which this login would give us parts for new Gunpla.   That method, apparently, is a banner with a unique currency called Capsule Medals.

These Capsule Medals can be spent in an amount of 1 or 10 (one for a single and ten for a multi draw, although there is no bonus for pulling ten) in an attempt to get parts for these two.  F91 is the featured 4* of the two, and I have to say that I'm far more interested in the Parts as a whole than the current featured banner (which I am straight disappointed with). Honestly, F91 as a whole is a pretty exciting suit, but I'm not about to crack out a tier list here.  Despite that I think Buster is the real prize out of this banner.

How do you get these Capsule Medals so you can try your hand at these sweet, sweet Parts?  Well, logging in, of course!

As you can see, the logins give a grand total of 30 Capsule Medals over 7 days of consecutive logins, which will give you 30 total Part draws.  There is not a higher rate for any of these draws by doing them as a multi-draw or a single draw, so feel free to hammer at it any way you want.

Only 30, you say?  Are there more?  Lots more, actually.  You can buy 5 of these bad boys from the Event shop for 10 Advance Coins apiece, to a maximum of five Capsule Medals.  Additionally, you have a chance at one dropping on each Event stage that you complete.  The drop rate for these is currently unknown, but we have some theories on that, as a whole.  While we have originally compared them to the assume rate at which Awakening Circuits seem to drop, a few of us have been collecting data to find a numerical value, or approximate drop rate.  If you're interested in helping these efforts, you can join the official discord of the subreddit "r/gundambattlegunplawarfare"

At this time, it looks to be roughly in the range of 20% to 30% drop rate overall, but there have been a larger amount of actual reported drops overall in the 35 energy cost mission, or "Super Hard" difficulty.  Keep in mind that this is the opinion of the author and not a definitive result. Later, after we obtain more data, we can likely explain a more definitive drop rate on these items.  This type of Event is confirmed to be a normal occurrence moving forward, but the F91/Buster banner will close on October 17th.  There is also no evidence that these Parts will be added to the Standard Capsule banner after the Event has closed; these appear to be limited.

PREMIUM MATERIALS CAMPAIGN

This next surprise for us, however, is even more exciting. It's no secret that the number one most-requested feature of this game is a guaranteed 4* Part during multi-draws.  And then with the Pale Rider banner, we saw that sort of a feature implemented, but at a very steep cost of 15 multi-draws needing to be made before you can get that Part.

campaign

This time the requirements are not nearly as steep.  You'll need to collect 8 of an item called "[001] Premium Material".  You receive all of these over the course of a month, really; 2 from each Event, that takes place for a week each.  These are obtained in two ways: clearing 5 Event missions of any difficulty, and logging in on the third day of the currently-running Event.

premmat

This is big big news, because once you round up the required items, you can turn them in to the Exchange Shop that will open on October 29th, and what you receive is a "4* Part Exchange Medal", redeemable for any one 4* Part that appears in the Standard Capsule banner up to that point. Sokai and Limited/Event parts will not be included. Realistically, this does mean that the choices will be including the next few weeks of featured banners as well.  Need that Red Frame Astray leg for that sweet, sweet Bisect?  No problem!  Been needing Last Shooting (Gundam RX-78-2 Beam Rifle) or GN Sniper Rifle?  Have at it!  Your choice.  One 4* Part from the Standard Part Pool.  Personally, I'm probably going to grab up Duel Gundam (Assault) Arms... That magazine ex skill is just way too tempting to me.

There's a few other things you can do with these Premium Materials... You can trade in 6 of them for a Sanakapool Coin, which is redeemable for a full 3* suit of the Sanakapool custom gunpla featured in Chapter 7 of Story Mode (also the boss for Chapter 7 Free).

Additionally, you can exchange 2 of the Premium Materials for 1x Standard Capsule Ticket, and 1 Premium Material for 1x Skip Ticket each.  These last two are very low value, and really there to likely empty your Material stock if you purchased the Sanakapool Coin, before the next round. I say "next round", because as we saw with the Bonus Coins from the other guaranteed 4* exchange, the item is labeled with [001].  This implies that these items are unique to this month, and this Event, and we will see a repeat of this next month.  This is purely speculative, really, but backed by the fact that this is the pattern we have seen developing with Events in this game. (We currently are receiving Bonus Coin [002] from the featured Part banner, for reference).

This is big news.  Really big news.  The ability to choose a 4* Part is going to really go a long way to help players get the builds they want and develop in a reasonable and planned fashion, turning this game into a marathon run of intelligent management of resource and planning for future Events.

The Campaign Period is as follows:

  • [Part 1] 10/8 8:00 PM (PDT) – 10/15 8:00 PM (PDT)
  • [Part 2] 10/15 8:00 PM (PDT) – 10/22 8:00 PM (PDT)
  • [Part 3] 10/22 8:00 PM (PDT) – 10/29 8:00 PM (PDT)
  • [Part 4] 10/29 8:00 PM (PDT) – 11/5 7:00 PM (PST)

The Exchange period is 10/29/2019 8:00pm PDT - 11/22 7:00pm PST. It's also worth noting that for some of the world, Daylight Savings Time happens during the exchange period, and Bandai has accounted for this change in the listing of their times.  Good move.

As this game continues to grow and evolve, we're going to be here to bring you all the juicy details.  It looks like Bandai is always gonna keep us guessing, but they're making very strong efforts to make things easier for free-to-play players, while still giving an edge to pay-to-play players (free vs spenders; no judgment here).  Be sure to get your login rewards, and you might want to start thinking about the 4* Part you really, really want!  It'll be yours from just playing the game!
