Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare – Weekly Event Digest #5

sokai3
  • The Sokai Banner drops, and it’s Unicorn with Kshatriya instead of Banshee. What gives?
  • Shinn Asuka and Elpeo Ple are the new Pilots this week!
  • Heavyarms has arrive in full gatling glory!
  • Premium Material Campaign wrap-up!
  • Take a survey to give your thoughts and get rewards!

It’s that time again Pilots, and this week has been sort of crazy on everyone with the new Event structure, the Big Zam Beta, and the impending Sokai.  I spoke about the teaser for the Sokai previously, and was sure it would be Unicorn and Banshee, but Bandai threw me a curve-ball and dropped in Kshatriya.  We’re going back to Event Points, and it looks like this will be the standard going forward; normal Events during normal banners are coin-based, and Events during Sokai are point-based.  We’re just drawing some informed conclusions to some clear patterns here.   So read on, and we’ll break down what’s happening for our end-of-month bash!

HIT THE BUZZER; WIN A COOKIE

survey win

We’re gonna touch briefly here before digging into the really good stuff, but this is the kind of thing that I really like to see from developers of mobile games.  A company trying to get its thumb on the pulse of the community is healthy momentum moving forward, and they’re giving a pretty fair incentive for your time: 500 Haro Chips and 3 EN RecoveryStrong.  These rewards will be distributed after the event is over, and here’s the official details regarding the survey:

Event Duration: 10/28/2019 0:00 AM(PDT) – 11/10/2019 11:59 PM(PST) (14 Days)

To better support the fans of the Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare, we would like to hear more from you! Fill out a quick survey from the link above and claim special rewards!

The survey consists of questions regarding what elements you’d like to see introduced like community giveaways or live streaming events and the like, and if you would attend a user experience research program if it were held in a city you could conceivably attend in.  It’s not a long survey, but it does require you to create a Bandai Namco ID which will take a verification step, but it’s a small price to pay for some EN Restores and Haro Chips.  Be sure to take your survey, let them know what you want, and get your rewards when the event concludes!

NEW EVENT: OVERWHELMING HEAVY WEAPONRY

harms

All right!  Heavyarms has arrived, and it’s not going to be a 4* Gacha Gunpla.  This has some people upset that their boi is gonna be a natural 3*, but this is going to be an easily-obtained set that has no requirements to be bad.  We’ve seen a number of Event Parts that have been very unique or very underrated that turned out to be very competent in several builds, so there’s no reason Heavyarms can’t be that as well.

If you notice, we’re going back to the point system that was introduced during the Freedom/Justice Sokai Festival, and that the bonus rate increase has been capped at 600% to suit that.  Additionally, Unicorn is going to be a 100% per part multiplier, while Kshatriya will be 80% per part.  The current and previous Event suits will be at a 7% modifier this time.  It is important to continually stress that these are a per-part modifier and will all add up if you use duplicates or multiples in different slots.  What’s different about this Event is that we’re seeing some Pilots get a nod as modifiers as well, with Shinn taking that 100% multiplier spot.

There are a lot of modifiers across the board this time, and we’re gonna outline all of them:

Unicorn Gundam (all parts, incl. Shield, Saber, Beam Magnum, Hyper Bazooka), Shinn Asuka (Pilot): 100% UP

Kshatriya (all parts): 80% UP

Wing Gundam (all parts incl. Shield, Saber, Buster Rifle), Gundam Deathscythe (all parts incl Buster Shield, Beam Scythe), Shenlong Gundam (all parts incl. Shenlong Shield, Beam Glaive), Tallgeese [Endless Waltz Ver.] (all parts incl. Dober Gun), Duo Maxwell (Pilot), Chang Wufei (Pilot): 15% UP

Gundam AGE Normal (all parts incl. DODS Rifle, Shield [AGE]), Gundam Sandrock [Product Code Extra] (Japan exclusive) (all parts incl. Shield, Beam Submachine Gun), Tallgeese II (all parts), Gundam Heavyarms (all parts incl. Beam Gatling Gun [with Shield]), Wing Gundam [Pre-Registration Reward] (all parts incl. Shield, Saber, Buster Rifle), Serpent Custom (all parts incl. Beam Cannon [Serpent], Bazooka [Serpent]), Serpent Custom [Double Gatling Gun] (all parts), Trowa Barton (Pilot), Elpeo Ple (Pilot), Treize Khushrenada (Pilot), Heero Yuy [Pre-Registration Reward] (Pilot): 7% UP

It’s important to note a few things here; starting with the fact that the Wing Pre-Registration Rewards are all multipliers with Heero based on the Event contents.  Both featured pilots are included, as well as lower-tiered/rarity suits like Serpent Custom.  Lastly, the Sandrock that was a Japan exclusive as an extra for ordering a Gunpla Kit is being added to multipliers, again based on the Gundam Wing Event content and other bonus multipliers.  This is a HUGE list for the 7%, and a healthy spread for 15% as well.   Really like Unicorn?  You’re really in luck with the Shield and 3 weapons it packs along with it, should you decide to pull on the Sokai Festival banner.  Even getting a lucky pull on a Pilot Banner for Shinn will net you a comfortable multiplier bonus to get some 5* Heavyarms parts if you want them.  Fingers are definitely crossed for some good Event Parts with this bad boy though.

!!NEW GUNDAMS APPROACHING!! GUNDAM UNICORN AND KSHATRIYA

sokaicorn

I was so close on this one!  So I had guessed we were going to see Banshee and Unicorn, because the previous Sokai Festivals have had a format of Protagonist vs Antagonist, and we had that super crazy teaser earlier in the week.  I feel like this is a missed opportunity, but I guess we can’t expect Bandai to go all out just yet and drop two really requested and fan-favorite Gundams.

Gundam Unicorn is the main protagonist mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, and sports something called a “full psychoframe armor” which, when activated, puts the mobile suit into a transformed state called “Destroy Mode”.  I’m expecting the same thing to be relevant for this entry, with an Awakening on a Part that carries the same name, and maybe some crazy stat spreads or EX Skills for good measure.  Something feels off about this banner to me, but I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I am prompted to want to go in on this.  Sokai Banners tend to have some high-quality parts in them, but not every part is created crazy or equal, so there are likely to be some stinkers somewhere.  But just look at that monster; not to mention its packing a Beam Saber, Hyper Bazooka, and the terrifying Beam Magnum, as well as it’s Shield.  This is a big one, boys… get ready.

Kshatriya… I want to like you more, but I have trouble with that.  The aesthetics are kinda weird with the bulkiness, but I’ll give you a chance.  This is definitely a beast of a suit that appeared alongside Gundam Unicorn, and was piloted by Marida Cruz (whom we saw last week).  The really notable aspect here is that each of the four thruster areas house funnels like Nu Gundam that can shoot down their targets in a flash.  Beyond that there isn’t much more notable about the mobile suit except that it carries partial psychoframe armor, which amps up its parameters in battle.  Personally I am unsure what other EX the kit could carry, and it could even favor Part Traits over EX Skills like Earthree did… But this is still a Sokai Festival, and this could be another powerful addition to the game, regardless.

NEW PILOTS: SHINN ASUKA AND ELPEO PLE

shinnple

I know some of you out there in the community have been collecting Seed-era Pilots, so this is another one thrown right down your alley.  Shinn Asuka, the pilot for the Force Impulse Gundam, breaks in at 4* rarity and is ready to go.  He gets a 100% modifier for the Event, and we’re going to be able to use him constantly to crush Kira whenever possible (haha).  With every segment I’ve done on these, I have never gotten a single Pilot Job License correct… and whenever I’ve hoped for some diversity in Licenses and relevant options, Bandai has laughed at me and said “Here’s another in-fighter.  Be happy.”  Sooooo…. Shinn is going to be an in-fighter with 1600 melee attack, High Firepower, and Close Combat, and will have a Part Trait regarding cooldown reduction.  Take that, Bandai.

Elpeo Ple, the pilot for the Qubeley and a character from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ… is our 3*.  She’s a Newtype pilot and is the base for a series of clones, which is a different sort of approach for a child pilot character.  Again, every single time I predict one of these Pilots, Bandai gets me good, so she’s going to be a super awesome Supporter with a fair spread of 800 shot and melee attack, with the Supporter and Zeon tags.  Come at me, Bandai; let’s make it two for two!

PREMIUM MATERIALS CAMPAGIN COMES TO A CLOSE

premmat

October 29th is upon us, and with it we’ll see the opening of the Premium Materials Exchange Shop.  By now you should all have 6 [001] Premium Materials, and we’ll see the final two enter the game during this Sokai Festival week (one from Event participation, and one from a login on the third consecutive day of the week).  You will then be able to take those 8 Materials and trade either 6 for a Sanakapool Coin to redeem for her unique Gunpla (with additional choices to “spend down” your remaining Materials), or spend all 8 on a token that will allow you to redeem for one 4* Part of your choice from the existing Standard Capsule Pool.  This means that any-and-all Sokai Parts, Limited Parts, and Event Parts are all off limits.

We took some time and dove into a few points to remember when selecting your 4* Part that you can read here.   This is going to be a huge Sokai Festival, so be sure to not miss your logins, your guaranteed 4* Part, and all the cool stuff happening for the next week.

Happy Halloween, everyone!  Remember to be safe over the holidays, and Gacha responsibly!
