Gundam X and Gundam Virsago - Should You Pull?

gunplaXandVirsago

Pilots!

Today we've got another addition of Should You Pull, brought to you by AetherRose on our new discord server at https://discord.gg/JTsv8gX . Check out my assessment of this week's banner below!

Hey guys! This week is honestly two gundams I don’t know too well! Hah! Never heard of them, go figure. Part of what I’m apparently going to love about this game is that it has the opportunity to introduce me to new series to watch! Fantastic! That said, I wanted to take this moment to mention the new discord server I’m a part of, run by Dazed Mika and focused on providing you with as much centralized information as possible along with a friendly and well moderated environment to talk in. Again, the link is https://discord.gg/JTsv8gX and I really hope to see you there!

This week we got 950 Haro Chips, and here’s how:

  • 150 - Login Bonus
  • 140 - Daily Achievements
  • 150 - Event Login
  • 390 - Mission Completion
  • 170 - Arena Participation

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this, but I’m sure by now a lot of you know what’s up!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.2% for a single Part, which is 50x 10-pulls or 500 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 5,400 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Power, B in Piercing, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats, letters, and numbers are at Max Value.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a normal banner, which means it will be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule 2 when the week is up.

Banner Grade: B+

Summary: This banner has a 1% (3.34%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0.4% (1.33%) chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

In spite of the grade, this is a rough banner and I’m on the fence with my suggestion. For those with a shooting build already prepared and you either don’t need any Parts or only need one or two, I would say skip. For those looking to make a shooting build, this has a lot of solid Parts on it in spite of some very big disappointments, and I’d suggest not skipping!

Prime Pool percentages are in parenthesis

Gundam X

gunplaGundamX

Head: A+

YES! A GOOD HEAD! The almighty and wonderful Bandai Gods have heard my prayer, and they answer with glorious boons. With a whopping 3,181 S.Atk, putting it on par with Dynames’ S.Atk, this Head breaks onto the scene and really sets a tone for this banner! Additionally, we’re looking a Squad Buff raising S.Def and M.Def by 39% for 37s, on a CD on 33/7. This isn’t the best EX Skill in the world, but it’s a farcry from head vulcans, that’s for sure! And the frosting on this sundae bringing a smile to my face? Look at those Word Tags! Protag. and High Firepower! Whew!

Chest: S

HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE! There’s some great Chests out there, and certainly the stats on this one are nothing but average...HOWEVER, its Part Trait boosts Shooting power by 30% if you have Speed attribute. These kinds of low requirement buffs that affect your entire ranged damage are absolutely amazing, right up there with Cooldown Reduction! Grats if you pull this! Again, this comes loaded up with Protag. and High Firepower!

Arms: D-

I cracked the code, by the way. They’re copying Dynames stats for a lot of these, which is fine, but I figured I’d point it out, because it’s important here. “Why is it important?”, asked the audience I totally hear. It’s important because dynames was designed strictly as a ranged gunpla and that shows here, with absolutely dreadful Arms, possibly on par with 2* Arms. They have WELL below average stats, a measly Part Trait (15% chance of penetrating super armor) and the only thing keeping it out of F being Protag.

Legs: C

Yikes. Average stats and a very poor Part Trait plague these Legs, the same as the Arms. The Part Trait prevents recoiling 20% of the time, and the Word Tags once again save the day with Protag.

Backpack: A

With average stats and the same fantastic Word Tags (Protag. And High Firepower), this Part could really use a good EX Skill to tie it together. OH, WHAT’S THIS? A+/C- 79/20 Satellite Cannon comes blasting into the fight! Pierce isn’t great, but this is a really good piercing score, to be fair.

Large Beam Sword: C+

With below average stats and a flat damage increasing Part Trait, nothing can save this otherwise very cool beam greatsword, shame...

Shield Buster Rifle: S+

Say hello to what is currently the best gun in the game. The one, the only, SHIELD BUSTER RIFLE! Sitting at a second best 4,004 S.Atk, second only to Nu, and boasting a fantastical, magical, IMPOSSIBLE Part Trait, this behemoth is only held back by its Word Tags--JUST KIDDING IT’S PROTAG. AND HIGH FIREPOWER AGAIN! By the way the Trait is 20% initial CD Reduction with Speed, which, in my opinion, is the second best in the game.

Aesthetics: C-

Honestly it’s chunky and stocky and pretty lame looking, but maaaaaannn those stats. Welp, get ready to look lame to win games, GAMERS RISE UP

Gundam Virsago

gunplaVirsago

Head: B-

The stats are fairly low, and the S.Atk only comes out to 2,380, but it doesn’t end there. The Part Trait “When Armor is 40% or less, Shooting CRIT rate boosted 30%” may sound absolutely fantastic on paper, but honestly this is one of the worst, in my opinion. My reasoning is simple. The Armor, Defenses, and Resistances work in such a way that you’re basically either paper or invincible, meaning if you’re at 40% or less, you’re probably biting off more than you can chew and you’re going to die anyways.

Chest: B

Very slightly above average stats leave a lot to be desired, especially since this is matched by a piercing EX Skill. A/D 60/15.

Arms: B-

With relatively average stats and an absolutely horrific M.Atk sitting at a mere 796, although a slightly above average S.Atk of 796, these Arms kinda aren’t good. The selling point here is the low CD (21/6) high damage (D/A-) EX Skill attached. It’s a Beam Shot, by the way.

Legs: B+

Sitting at average stats, what really pushes these Legs up is actually the exact same thing as the Vrsago Arms: EX Skill with D/A- and 21/6s CD, but this time it’s Beam Melee.

Backpack: D-

With above average stats and a very boring Part Trait (20% chance to prevent vernier consumption when stepping) which is highly situational and will honestly never really benefit you, this Backpack is probably deadweight even for the newest of accounts. I say that because it’d be replaced almost instantly by freely available 3* Backpacks.

Beam Saber [Virsago]: D

With well below average stats and a terrible Part Trait (flat damage increase), this is Saber is getting THE D.

Strike Shooter: A-

With a decent S.Atk score of 3,177 and a 20% initial CD Reduction when you’re Middle Shooter, this isn’t a bad Part by any means, but it’s not the greatest either.

Aesthetics: S+

I absolutely love the sharp look and the wings it has going on. Almost every Part not only looks unique, but has a lot to give to your custom build. I’d strongly suggest messing around with any Parts you get from this!

AI Pilots Paptimus Scirocco (4*) and Roux Louka (3*)

pilotsSciroccoAndRoux

Banner Grade: B

I wouldn’t bother trying to pull for the 4* here, but if you’re a new player in need of a decent Mid Shooter quickly, then the 3* Roux Louka is for you. She’s pretty alright and you have fantastic odds of pulling her.

Paptimus Scirocco: C

Wow, hmm… Honestly? For someone that was presented as such a threat in his series, I’m surprised Staccato is so bad. He’s a melee focused-ish Out Fighter with Shot Guidance. Yeah.

Roux Louka: B+

This Mid Shooter sports 1,144 S.Atk, making her a good choice for new players. Additionally, she has a passable “Job Gauge increase boosted by 13% when Power Attribute” Part Trait. Average pilot, but excellent odds to pull!
