Introduction

Alright! Another tournament. This one involves epics & rares without hybrids. Time to win some boosts! BOOOOOOSTSSSS! Personally I’m working on building my Hadros Lux, so I need to do well here.

I want to thank MattE as always for providing us with the sims! His field guide app is amazing and its highly recommended. He has put in a ton of time & effort into his app and its very nice to know that there are people out there willing to put time & energy into things to make sure that they run correct.

Sim Results

As this is a Skilled Tournament, we have decided to use our Battle Simulator to give you a good insight on how each creature performs. Our Battle Simulator is a tool that was developed by the creator of the Jurassic World Alive Field Guide and it runs matchups for every combination we want it to. It runs 1v1 matchups for all creatures against all creatures, selecting the best move possible for each turn. It then calculates a win/loss/tie percentage and that is then compiled into a data sheet.

Our Sim Results, therefore, are excellent in 1v1 matchups like the very start of the match. However, you should always keep in mind that the battles in JWA are a 4v4, and that it is very rarely a true 1v1. So while these numbers are very useful for seeing who wins the most, you should always keep in mind your own playstyle and possibly other uses that won't be seen as much in our Battle Sim, like Swap in Abilities or On Escape Abilities.

Because we want to give you the most accurate results, we took the top 50 in our original findings and put those against each other. That will give us a better understanding on how those do against each other. So in the image you are about to see you will see the results of the top 20 being pitted against each other, not these creatures versus all creatures.

But with that disclaimer out of the way, here are the results! To quickly explain the numbers: Green numbers are win percentages, red numbers are loss percentages and blue numbers are Swap out Percentages. If there is any situation where the added number isn't 100% there are probably some rounding issues involved

Team Building Tips

As always, I don’t recommend just grabbing the 1st 8 creatures and running to the tournament lobby. You are going to want to have some team synergy. These are creatures we are all familiar with because well the formats never change. Apparently, the last time we had this exact format was in November, but it seems like it was just like a week or two ago because literally everything is the same and time is a flat circle. If you want detailed interesting breakdowns of each creature I’m sure that they are literally in every article from the past month because nothing here is new. At all.

Starting out this is what I’m using:

-Diplodocus – This is a no brainer. Diplodocus is always the best in these formats. See.

diplod

-Woolly Rhino- Another no brainer. Seriously if you see a team that doesn’t have a woolly rhino on it then just assume they accidently put it in a sanctuary.

-Edaphosaurus – So we finally have creatures with rending resistance. Edaph can handle marsupial lion & andrewsarchus thanks to this. Just watch out vs snakes, edaph is the same speed so that speed tie happens a lot.

-Andrewsarchus – I’m so tired of this guy. But seriously you have to use it. But he is so boring. Just no escape & crit & no escape & crit. Over and over. blahhhhhhhhhhhhh

-Titanoboa- On escape rampage. Swap prevention resistance. Snake is the best closer.

-Allosaurus Gen2- This chomper has the best resistances. Swap prevention resistance means it can chomp & swap away from Andrew’s.

-Brachiasaurus – The defensive longneck. Gets to be obnoxious to battle. Get those shields up and rampage. When battling diplodocus with brachia make sure you’re not shielding when they have shield advantage ready otherwise you die.

-Some sort of cunning creature. Will figure out as I go.

The cunning options I look at here:

-Ornithomimus- We are used to orni, we know what it has. It survives dracorex attacks, it can’t be stunned or swap prevented. It can’t be distracted. Its good.

-Blue- Blue’s health is soooo low. But its moveset is good & it’s resistance to stun makes it nice vs weakened rhinos. (Blue will probably not be on my team)

-Dakotaraptor- So Dakota actually had the best results in the sims for any cunning. 2 rampages & sidestep. This is pretty pretty good. Its still going to die super hard vs resilients. But it will do well vs fierce!

Now the team I start with will not be what I end up running. And a lot of what I run is just out of preference. You have to pay attention to what others are running and adapt & adjust accordingly. These creatures I will rotate through my lineup as well:

-Marsupial Lion – This is another creature we all know well. I didn’t start with it last week and added it after a while. I’m stubborn so I expect this week to be about the same.

-Scutosaurus- This is another creature I rotate in often. It’s revenge protection + armor gives it a ton of survivability.

-Concavenator – My battle style involves a lot of swapping & chipping away to get things in range. That is what I do with Concave. It is perfect for hitting that counter and doing a little damage. Plus it has pretty solid move set as well.

-Antarctopelta- If you’ve read any of these before you know I LOVE Pelta. It may be favorite creature in this format. It is however a sim queen. It does really well in the sims but not as well in reality (this happens a lot). I mean literally its 1 of 3 creatures that beat diplod more than 15%. Also it literally kills all over resilient & cunning. It loses to fierce. But that’s it.

pelta

Like it loses hard to fierce. But it’s a lot of fun to use. I thoroughly enjoy it and I will be using it. So when you see my name in the top 10 just assume its because of Pelta. If I’m not in the top 10 just also assume its because of Pelta.

Parting Words

Did I phone it in this week? I don't know maybe. It's been a busy week. These formats don't move the needle anymore. I'll tell you 1 thing though, I still put more effort into this article then ludia put into deciding tournament formats.

If you have any questions, want to ask me how a specific creature does in the tournament, or tell me how much you hated this article my DMs are open on the GamePress discord. DadJokes #1609
