JWA Weekly Event Aug 23 - Aug 29: Taunt

Introduction

Explorers! Taunt is one of the very best themes full of some of the very best creatures! We had a similar event back in November, though they made some positive changes to our choices. Let's go over what we said then, what our Discord community is thinking, what we'll recommend to dart, and everything else you need to know.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 27 Attempts

  • Ankylosaurus Gen 2 (Tuesday ) (Ankylocodon>Ankylodicurus, Alankylosaurus)
  • Brontotherium (Battle Exclusive) (Brontolasmus)
  • Lythronax (Local 3 Anytime) (Purrolyth>Grypolyth)

These are the exact same three as when we had the Taunt event in November. Here is what was said then: For commons this week, we'd place a general order of priority as BrontoAnkyl2Lythro, solely due to availability. It's a known concept that we tend to prioritize based on exclusivity. However, there is not really a completely clear cut winner, so you may prefer to base your choice(s) on your personal goals.

We still feel it's hard to say any of these three really stand out over the rest. Perhaps Bronto to an extent being that it is Battle Exclusive. Lythro currently feeds the best of the hybrid bunch, and Ankyl2 feeds the most hybrids. Like most weeks, 27 is a lot of attempts over just a couple of days, and your time may be best suited darting whatever crosses your path. While you're at it, you'll likely stumble over plenty more Ankyl2s with this week's hybrid pursuit.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Thursday: 18 Attempts

  • Carnotaurus (Friday ) (Purutaurus>Carnotarkus, Scorpius Rex Gen 2>Scorpius Rex Gen 3)
  • Compsognathus Gen 2 (Local 4 Anytime)
  • Elasmotherium (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Brontolasmus, Mammotherium>Mammolania)

Two of these three were not part of this event in November with Carno being the only one that was. And we have yet another week with Compy2 featured (this makes 6 of the last 13 weeks for those keeping track at home). The clear choice here should be Cartnotaurus. SR3 is a top arena creature, and we may be looking at another hybrid (Indotaurus) down the line. Being day locked also makes Carno the most exclusive of the bunch. As previously stated, though, it does seem flocks are carving out their own little meta, so we could certainly make a case for Compy2 being your choice.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Rajasaurus (Local 2 Anytime) (Rajakylosaurus>Diorajasaur)
  • Sonorasaurus (Event Exclusive) (Skoonasaurus)
  • Woolly Rhino (Event Exclusive) (Keratoporcus, Monolorhino)

Boy howdy, what a week of Epic decisions!!! TWO event exclusive options makes for a major conundrum. I buried the lead a little, but clearly our recommendation will not be Raja despite being a componnent of the dual threat (raid and arena) Dio.

So how do you choose between Sonora and Rhino? This is practically an impossible choice as both their supers are top tier Arena creatures. We will just say you can't go wrong with either, or maybe you want to split your attempts with a few for each.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Ankyntrosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Trykosaurus)
  • Rajakylosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Diorajasaur)
  • Skoolasaurus (Event Exclusive) (Skoonasaurus)

We conclude the week with a Legendary attempt which we did not have back in November. If we rank the options by ultimate hybrids, Skoola comes out way on top. However, it is probably the easiest of the 3 Legendary options to create. Both Ankyntro & Rajakyl take two Epics whereas Skoola is built with a Common and an Epic. To top it off, the Epic Koola is a global option though only found at Dawn/Dusk/Night. The Epics required for the other two are either Local or Park locked (but available any time). If this sways you off Skoola, we'd consider the other two options about equal. We like Dio a little better than Tryko since the change to Resilient, but this could be a case where you consider your surroundings to make your choice. Both require Ankylosaurus as part of their makeup, so it might depend how accessible parks are for the Kentro required for Ankyntro.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events and Trials will also be Taunt themed and will reward the same creatures found under event drops with successful completion.

We will have two dinosaur specific strikes this week. Wednesday will feature Elasmo, and an Epic strike on Friday will feature Ankylosaurus! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Tuesday (Attack), Thursday (HP), and Saturday (Speed).

Scents

There is a basic scent strike on Monday, and the themed scent on Thursday is Crocodylidae. This can draw the following creatures while activated:

  • Nundasuchus (Common)
  • Purussaurs Gen 2 (Common)
  • Sarcosuchus (Common)
  • Kaprosuchus (Rare)
  • Postosuchus (Rare)
  • Purussaurus (Rare)
  • Gryposuchus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

On Sunday, we will have the treasure chase where the chests refresh hourly for you to collect up to 25,000 coins! The boxes reset at 8pm Eastern, so you actually have a chance for up to 50,000 coins if you are able to max both time frames.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week will continue the Ankylodicurus pursuit with the Ankylosaurus Gen 2.

Daily Dino & Tournament Info

August continues with our daily reward being Antarctopelta while the arena reward is the extremely valuable, event exclusive, Haast Eagle.

Week 3 of the Skoonasaurus Alliance Championships will be a Rare/Epic advantage tournament for Sonorasaurus DNA!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Monday, 12 PM EST - Sunday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder, Gaming Beaver, and Gaming Ells. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, Gaming Ells, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
