JWA Weekly Event February 15-February 21: Valentines

Introduction

Explorers! Love is in the air and even more so once you get a glance at this week's Valentines Event Calendar. It will be an incredible week to chase coins and collect DNA including many exclusive & legendary. Each set provides some great options and tough choices, so let's go over what our Discord community is thinking and what we'll recommend to dart as well as everything else you need to know!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rate = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between, Rares last 3 hours with about 15 minutes in between, and Epics last 6 hours with upward of 30 minutes in between.

All strikes are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The calendar does not show trials, but those do not tend to vary week by week.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 18 Attempts

  • Allosaurus (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Allosinosaurus > Thoradolosaur)
  • Velociraptor (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex > Erlidominus/Indoraptor, Indoraptor)

New for 2021, we are reaching out to our Discord community to find out what they're planning to dart. We can't presume to understand what it's like to be at any given level of the game and hope this added input will be beneficial. If you aren't joined to our Discord, there is a link a few sections below, come on in!

Rather than ramble about what hybrid(s) these featured creatures are responsible for, we will now include that information alongside the spawn mechanics of each.

On a glance, there doesn't seem much to be excited about around two global spawns. However, Thoradolosaur has made a recent arena comeback, and you'll need plenty of Allosaurus to create and level. An overleveled "Allison" (or Allosinosaurus) can also be quite the force in qualifying tournament. With regards to Velociraptor, Erlidominus & Indoraptor aren't quite what they once were, but like anything, both have a potential to be mighty once again in a future update. If you have goals to create and level both, it'll be thousands and thousands of Velociraptor DNA. Might as well stock up! Or, if you're not feeling it, take it easy for a couple days. You're not going to want to miss what's coming from Wednesday through Sunday, and it may cost you quite a bit of hunting time!

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Thursday: 24 Attempts

  • Marsupial Lion (Battle Exclusive) (Thylacotator)
  • Quetzalcoatlus (Event Exclusive) (Pteraquetzal>Quetzorion)
  • Tenontosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Tenontorex)
  • Wuerhosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Carnotarkus)

First, it is important to note that we only get TWO DAYS for Rares this week due to our Legendary attempts on Sunday. Make sure you complete your attempts before Friday's reset, so you don't miss out!

Decisions decisions! We are faced with all choices being exclusive, and 3 of them Event. So how do you even choose? For me personally, I will go with Marsupial Lion. I have a my own long term goal to max all the cats, and these 24 attempts will put a nice dent in that. I also have been fortunate that I was able to stockpile loads of the other 3 from the times they were Park spawns. If you don't have any particular goal in mind, then your best bet will be Tenontosaurus. Our community is all over Tenontosaurus, likely because Tenontorex is extremely strong in both arena AND raids. Quetzorion has her moments in the arena, so darting Quetzalcoatlus might be worth it. Wuerhosaurus is Event Exclusive too, but you won't see much current use for Carnotarkus at this time, as it performs rather poorly in the Arena.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Acrocanthosaurus (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Acrocanthops)
  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2)
  • Diplodocus (Event Exclusive) (Geminititan)
  • Woolly Rhino (Event Exclusive) (Keratoporcus, Monolorhino)

Another couple days of Epic decision making. It's pretty easy to rule Acrocanthosaurus out when you are faced with your other choices being Event Exclusive. As hybrids currently stand, we find Monolorhino to be pretty equal with Geminititan. Both are very fine choices of ultimate goals with our community leaned toward Diplodocus. When considering the bases alone, there's a small edge of Woolly Rhino over Diplodocus, as the Woolly Rhino is very strong even in arena and present on many top teams. Knowing this leads to some speculation & concern that it may get a nerf sooner than later. Though we might sometimes put some consideration to the future, we think it's best to play in the now and not worry too much about it. Last thing to say about Woolly Rhino, we often forget there's another hybrid that could one day receive a super hybrid. It seems most prudent to hoard as much DNA any time you can. As far as Blue is concerned, Indoraptor G2 isn't really currently the beast it once was and can rest well somewhere in your longer term goals area. You also will have a chance to dart one on Sunday if you choose. We feel you are best off focusing your attempts on Diplodocus and/or Woolly Rhino

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 2 Attempts

  • Indoraptor Gen 2 (Event Exclusive) (No Current Hybrid)
  • Spinonyx (Event Exclusive) (Erlikospyx)

In 2020, we were given five choices for this Valentines offering. This year, we only have two to choose from, and the community wants that Spinonyx. We are on board with this choice, as Erlikospyx a fantastic hybrid. However, you really can not go totally wrong in whatever choice you make when it comes to Legendary attempts. So in the spirit of Valentine's Week, just go with your heart.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events and Trials for the week will also be Valentines Themed, and you should receive the event creatures as rewards for successful completion. The themed strike on Friday will feature VelosrhacosOver the Weekend, we'll also get an Epic Trial. On Sunday, we have an Epic Valentines Strike. Finally, we've got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Tuesday (Attack), Thursday (HP), and Saturday (Speed).

Scents

The Themed Scent of this week will be Irresistible Scent and will draw the same creatures featured (Common, Rare, Epic only). You also have the opportunity to draw one each day from the Green supply drops. These are extremely valuable scents, so make sure you use them as you receive them to make room for more.

Treasure Chase

To celebrate Valentines Day, there will be daily treasure chases to earn up to 15,000 coins per day and also a special Dodo "Love" Bird emote. We will also have the normal chase on Sunday this week where we will be able to chase the treasures through the day! With this set up, the chests are refreshed throughout the day and offer up to 25,000 free coins. We just need to cross our fingers that they aren't so sparse as recently.
