JWA Weekly Event July 19 - July 25: JWA Summer Sports

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Explorers! The celebration of summer continues with a little homage to the Olympics in the form of Jurassic Summer Sports. We now have all the information that was teased late last week. Let's go over what our Discord community is thinking, what we'll recommend to dart, and everything else you need to know.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday: 36 Attempts

  • Amphycion (Global Short Range) (Scutophicyon)
  • Majungasaurus (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Majundasuchus>Majundaboa)
  • Miragaia (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Megalogaia, Dsungaia)
  • Purussaurus Gen 2 (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Purrolyth>Grypolyth)

This week starts off with a sprint as we are given THIRTY SIX attempts and just 24 hours to do them. This is a lot of attempts over just one day, so it may be in your best interest to simply dart whatever crosses your path. That's what the majority of our Discord community plans to do. These are all decent enough that nothing super stands out as a high priority.

However, if you are looking for some kind of hierarchy, we'd order them Pur2, AmphyMiragaia, Majunga. This mostly comes down to their current hybrids and state of the game. While most of those who answered the poll in our Discord community said they will be darting whatever crosses their path, Amphy is leading the way for those who are more selective. This is likely due to the fact it's been around the least time of any of the choices, and it hasn't been easy for everyone to get around to hunt short range spawns.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Tuesday - Wednesday: 12 Attempts

  • Compsognathus Gen 2 (Local 4 Anytime)
  • Diplocaulus Gen 2 (Local 4 Anytime) (Diplovenator>Antarctovenator, Compsocaulus)
  • Giraffatitan (Local 1 Anytime) (Nodopatotitan)
  • Quetzalcoatlus (Event Exclusive) (Pteraquetzal>Quetzorion)

Next up, we dive in to our first set of Rare attempts, the representatives of Team Red. Using our standard "target the exclusive" mantra, you would want to set your sights on Quetz. However, Compy2 and Diplo2 are both extremely solid selections. Quetz & Diplo2 feed Unique hybrids, all of which are very much usable in the arena. Compy2 is tough to deal with when leveled & boosted for qualifying tournaments. If we had to put these in some order, that would be Diplo2, Quetz, Compy2, Giraffe. Never did we ever think we'd have that little red lizard highest on a list! It is also leading the way for those who voted in our poll on Discord.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Thursday - Friday: 12 Attempts

  • Elasmotherium (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Brontolasmus, Mammotherium>Mammolania)
  • Kelenken (Event Exclusive) (Grylenken)
  • Titanoboa Gen 2 (Global Dawn/Dusk) (Majundaboa)
  • Tupandactylus (Global Anytime) (Dimodactylus, Poukandactylus)

On Thursday, we pole vault to Rares Team Blue. We're going to stray from targeting the Event Exclusive and put our highest recommendation to Elasmo. If you've read the updated tier list, you've seen that Mammolania remains High Tyrant. The other options have decent hybrids, but we'd recommend your time and energy go to Elasmo. If you've already maxed Lania, there really isn't anything that we feel stands out among your other choices. Evaluate your own goals and where you might want to work on something more geared toward tournament. You can also, of course, dart whatever crossed your path and/or dart to donate!

Our Discord community appears to feel the same way with none of the choices showing any major lead over the others.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Saturday: 6 Attempts

  • Dakotaraptor (Local 2 Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Dakotanops)
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus, Indoraptor>Trykosaurus)
  • Woolly Rhino (Event Exclusive) (Keratoporcus, Monolorhino)

Saturday somersaults in with Epic Team Red. You won't be shocked to know we want to put all our stock in WRhino. You know why. Monolrhino? YES PLEASE. Level 30 Woolly Rhino? YES ALSO PLEASE! And then when you're done with those, there's still Porcus to work on. So. Much. DNA. This one is EVENT EXCLUSIVE, so it's important to get your darts on it when you can.

We know TRex is going to be appealing for those working on Tryk. However, you might consider pausing those plans until we see the actual effects of the datamined changes to Resilient moves. If you haven't seen about that, you can check out our recent article on it here

Featured Creatures: Epics

Sunday: 6 Attempts

  • Acrocanthosaurus (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Acrocanthops)
  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2)
  • Compsognathus (Local 1 Anytime) (Compsocaulus)

The final leg of this week long relay leaves us with Team Blue Epic choices. A year ago, we'd be screaming BLUE until we were blue in the face. Oh how times have changed. Sure, it's event exclusive, but it's borderline useless at this time. We'd much rather focus our attempts on Compy or Acro. I'm personally very torn between these two because I have been working on Acrocanthops but WAY behind on Compsocaulus. Local 1 hasn't made its way back to me since the introduction of these dirty birds, though it will finally make its way to me in August (and for 5 weeks!). Both hybrids are used by top arena players and can be formidable forces. I will likely prioritize Compy but may ultimately split my attempts.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials will also be Jurassic Summer Sports themed and reward us with either Team Blue or Team Red creatures. Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Monday, 12 PM EST - Sunday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder, Gaming Beaver, and Gaming Ells. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, Gaming Ells, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
