JWA Weekly Event June 21 - 27: Camp Cretaceous

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Explorers! This week is all about Camp Cretaceous. Kelociraptor is on much deserved vacation this week, but she wanted to make sure an put in here recommendations before we get to the meat and bones of things. To quote her: "Mono2, carnot, compy, scorp. Done and done dart those". We agree with her but let's delve in to all of the options for the week.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 27 Attempts

  • Dimorphodon (Battle Exclusive) (Dimodactylus)
  • Monolophosaurus Gen2 (Local 4 Anytime) (Monolometrodon, Scorpius Rex Gen 2 > Scorpius Rex Gen 3)
  • Stegosaurus (Daily Creature - Saturday) (Stegoceratops > Monostegotops, Stegodeus)

New for 2021, we are reaching out to our Discord community to find out what they're planning to dart. We can't presume to understand what it's like to be at any given level of the game and hope this added input will be beneficial. If you aren't joined to our Discord, there is a link a few sections below, come on in!

The community is overwhelmingly in agreement with Kelo as almost everyone that voted, voted they will be darting Mono Gen 2. While it is a fairly common local 4 creature, it's also a component of the new Scorpius Rex Gen 2 which you need for the unique Scorpius Rex Gen 3. You are going to need a LOT of Mono2 for both hybrids.

Stego being a daily creature isn't a bad idea and it does make some decent hybrids. Monostego and Stegodeus aren't what they once were, but they are still good in middle arenas as you are working towards other creatures.

Usually, we tell everyone to dart the most exclusive creature, and if you want to go with that logic, you will want to target Dimorphodon. It's battle exclusive so you can only get it in arena incubators and events. The hybrid, Dimodactylus, can be a pain in tourneys but isn't much of a threat in the arena usually as bleed still takes a backseat to a lot of other creatures in the meta. There is always the chance Dimodac can get a hybrid, however so keep that in mind as well.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Thursday: 18 Attempts

  • Baryonyx Gen 2 (Local 2 Anytime) (Spinonyx > Erlikospyx)
  • Carnotaurus (Daily Dino - Friday) (Purutaurus > Carnotarkus & Scorpius Rex, Scorpius Rex Gen 2 > Scorpius Rex Gen 3)
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex Gen 2 (Global Day) (Tryrannolophosaur > Tenontorex, Indominus Rex Gen 2 > Indoraptor Gen 2)

Who would have thought that Carnotaurus was the overwhelming favorite among the rares? You are going to need a LOT of Carno for the new hybrids. It is used in Purutaurus for Scorpius Rex as well as a component of Scorpius Rex Gen 3. Since it's a daily dino, you can only get out and hunt it on Fridays and it's not attracted by scents either. If you are working on any of the new creatures this is going to be your best option.

Erlikospyx has fallen out a bit in the meta thanks to fierce creatures that can cleanse. It's still a decent option, however, so Baryonyx Gen 2 would be one to go for if you aren't close to a local 2 and are working on that hybrid.

TRex 2 is a global creature and can usually be found almost everywhere. It has decent hybrids, but we think the other 2 rares are better options this week.

Also, make sure to note that we will only get rares on Wednesday and Thursday this week so make sure to finish all of your attempts before Friday!

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2)
  • Bumpy (Event Exclusive)
  • Compsognathus (Local 1 Anytime) (Comsoaculus)

These new hybrids have really made darting preferences interesting. While we have 2 exclusive creatures in Blue and Bumpy, the community once again overwhelmingly voted that they will be darting Compsognathus. We are inclined to agree as it makes a very powerful hybrid and flock creatures seem to be the dawning of a new meta. Compy is a huntable creature, but spawn distribution seems to still make it difficult to find and you can't even get a guarantee when scenting it.

Bumpy is a new creature in the game and although she's obviously one of the more adorable ones there is, she doesn't have a hybrid yet and isn't very overwhelming as a creature in battle. She is exclusive, however, and she might get a hybrid in the future so that is something to keep in mind.

Blue has been featured in themes before and we've had several opportunities to dart her. Her hybrid, Indo 2, isn't what it once was, but can still be decent in battle in the right circumstances.

As with the rare creatures, the schedule is different with epics as they will be out on Friday and Saturday so make sure you get them done before reset on Sunday.

Featured Creatures: Legendary

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Parasaurolophus Lux (Global Anytime Short-Range Only)
  • Scorpius Rex

There seems to be a great divide on these 2 creatures. Scorpius Rex is the new shiny creature but fusable, while Parasaurolophus Lux is dartable, albeit if you are actually able to find one.

If you are wanting to level Scorpius but don't want to waste any Carno DNA, then that would be a good choice to dart. Scorpius is a super-hybrid so there is slim to little chance it'll get a hybrid of itself based on the unspoken rules of fusing.

Para Lux, being a short-range only creature has been difficult for some people to find. Especially if it isn't easy for them to get out. There is also a chance Para could get a future hybrid as well.

Kelo recommends Scorpius, but I think I would say go with what you feel you have trouble finding. I might actually dart Para Lux myself.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events and Trials will also be Camp Cretaceous themed and will feature the same creatures that are dartable during the week (except for Legendary).

We have multiple dino specific strikes this week again, this seems to be the new normal. On Wednesday, we will have an Trex Gen 2 strike. The strike on Friday will feature the event exclusive BaryonyxSunday will feature the Scorpius Rex Gen 2. Finally, we've got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Tuesday (Attack), Thursday (HP), and Saturday (Speed).

Scents

There is a basic scent strike on Monday, and the themed scent on Thursday will be Hadrosauridae. This can draw any of the following creatures when activated:

  • Tenontosaurus
  • Edmontosaurus
  • Ouranosaurus
  • Maiasaura
  • Parasauralophus
  • Iguanodon

Treasure Chase

On Sunday, we will have the treasure chase where the chests refresh hourly for you to collect up to 25,000 coins! The boxes reset at 8pm Eastern, so you actually have a chance for up to 50,000 cons if you are able to max both time frames.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Dakotanops pursuit, so fire up those gigas and keep your eyes out for Dakotaraptor!

Daily Dino & Tournament Info

We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder, Gaming Beaver, and Gaming Ells. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, Gaming Ells, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
