JWA Weekly Event Sep 6 - Sep 12: Spelling Bee

Introduction

Explorers! After voting just a couple weeks ago, we're ready to usher in a new school year with a super fun Spelling Bee week. It's going to be a whirlwind of a ton of darting. Let's go over what our Discord community is thinking, what we'll recommend to dart, and everything else you need to know.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 27 Attempts

  • Archaeotherium (Monday) (Inostherium, Keratoporcus)
  • Coelurosauravus (Park Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Coelhaast)
  • Hatzegopteryx (Global Anytime) (Darwezopteryx>Stygidaryx)

Hands down, your best bet here is Ol King Coel, and that's also how those who voted in our Discord poll feel by a ginormous margin. It's been around the least amount of time, is park locked, and feeds a monster hybrid in Coelhaast. If cute leaping lizards aren't your thing, then our second recommendation would be Archae, as Hatzeg can be found everywhere, all the time. Even though 27 attempts is a lot over two days, this may be a week where you want to put in the time to only dart Coels

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Thursday: 24 Attempts

  • Archaeopteryx (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Argenteryx)
  • Dsungaripterus (Event Exclusive) (Dsungaia)
  • Quetzalcoatlus (Event Exclusive) (Pteraquetzal>Quetzorion)
  • Tuojiangosaurus (Global Anytime) (Diorajasaur, Tuoramoloch)

First, it is important to note we only have TWO DAYS for or Rare attempts this week, and TWENTY FOUR Is a lot over that small time frame. Fortunately, the choices are somewhat tough, and you may be finely suited to spread your attempts over multiple options. We are faced with TWO Event Exclusive options with Quetz holding an edge over Dsung simply for hybrid reasons. There's also the fairly new Opteryx who will be feeding the brand new Argenteryx by the time this part of the event rolls around. It's very difficult to recommend Tuoj over any of these three, but if you are using valuable FIPs on Tuoj then perhaps this would be your optimal choice.

The majority of our Discord members are targeting Opteryx followed by Quetz, Tuoj, and Dsung. A handful will be darting whatever crosses the path.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday: 9 Attempts

  • Acrocanthosaurus (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Acrocanthops)
  • Compsognathus (Local 1 Anytime) (Compsocaulus)
  • Pachycephalosaurus (Local 4 Anytime) (Smilocephalus>Smilonemys)

After slamming us with Compy2 a million times, perhaps the new trend will be Epic Compies as they are featured for the second week in a row. And these are your MUST DART once again as also supported by our Discord community. Though Compsocaulus seems to have lost some steam in the arena, base Compies are one of the best base Epics you can run in tournament. It is a short amount of time to plow through 9 attempts, and it isn't any kind of tragedy should you be forced to dart either of the others. Both make strong hybrids as well.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Saturday: 1 Attempt

  • Koolabourgiana (Event Exclusive) (Geminititan)
  • Scutophycion (Event Exclusive)

Both of these choices are great, but we lean toward making Scutophycion your choice as does our Discord membership. Even though Koolaburger feeds  the amazing Gem, the base creatures to fuse it are found in the wild everywhere, all the time. Pop a giga, watch a movie, and surely you'll draw a couple/few of each. Scutophycion is comprised of a battle exclusive + global short range. This means you need to be cycling incubators hoping to pull Scuto DNA and able to get around to hunt the Amphy

Featured Creatures: Uniques

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Antarctovenator (Event Exclusive)
  • Smilonemys (Event Exclusive)

At first, both of these choices are great. I personally got thrown around by IDGT's Tovenator in tournament a couple times this past weekend. This beast is one people find to be a great Cornibus counter, though we will also likely have more of those once the update happens. Then they decided they made a mistake and put Nemys in rather than Spinocon. We can not find a reason for you to choose Nemys over Tovenator. All of Nemys's parts can be found in the wild, and we've been able to raid it for a very long time. Either choice is still free Unique DNA, so ultimately just choose what's best for you.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Spelling Bee themed and will reward the same creatures found under event drops with successful completion. They will also be introducing Badge (Tuesday) and Emote (Saturday) strike towers this week.

We will have two dinosaur specific strikes this week. Wednesday will feature Tuojiangosaurus, and an Epic strike on Friday will feature Compsognathus! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Wednesday(Attack), Thursday (HP), and Saturday (Speed).

Scents

We do not have a basic scent strike this week. Instead, we will have TWO attempts at Spelling Bee themed scent on Monday and Thursday. This can draw the same Common, Epic, and Rare creatures found under the event drops.

Treasure Chase

The calendar shows a treasure box covering both Saturday and Sunday, it is not the standard chest and likely may contain things besides coins. Be sure to check the contents using the i button in the event there are FIPs. You'll need to make sure you have enough space if there are!

Hybrid Pursuit

This week will begin the Andrewtodon pursuit with Andrewsuchus. Fire up those gigas, you're going to want to collect as much as you can for all the hybrids!

Daily Dino & Tournament Info

A new month brings a new daily reward of Acrocanthosaurus while the arena reward is the extremely valuable, event exclusive, Woolly Rhino.

Week 1 of the Spinoconstrictor Alliance Championships will be Epic/Unique (All) Skills for COINS!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Monday, 12 PM EST - Sunday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder, Gaming Beaver, and Gaming Ells. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

What a fantastic week ahead darting creatures with names as challenging to spell as Kyle Juszczyk's (American Football player). And to top off all the fun darting that includes a Legendary & Unique attempt, we get UPDATE 2.10 on Tuesday (barring any last minute change). New for 2021, we are going to reach out for more community input on these weekly event roundups. Come join up and let us know what you plan to dart! We look forward to your input and hope to see you on there!
