JWA Weekly Events Apr 20- Apr 26: Spring Event

Introduction

Explorers! The celebration of Spring continues with a second week of Spring Event centered on Egg Hunters (just as yours truly predicted last week)! Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 Attempts

  • Gallimimus (Local 1 Anytime) (Monomimus>Pterovexus, Aquilamimus)
  • Phorusrhacos (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Velosrhacos, Phorusaura>Phorurex)
  • Velociraptor (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus/Indoraptor, Indoraptor)

As usual, we kick off the week with a choice of Common creatures.

Arena

If you are wanting to prioritize working on your arena team, Terror Bird (Phorusrhacos) is your top choice with PhoRex remaining a decent Unique hybrid. There are better options for your strike team out there, but this one is better than the hybrids your other Common options make. The recent Community Update did mention plans to make some older creatures great again, and we imagine that would include both Edom and Indoraptor. However, Velo is a global, anytime common that you should be able to hunt very easily outside of an event.

Tournament

If you are putting your focus on tournament, there are multiple directions this can go. When considering Commons among their own rarity, Terror Bird and Velo can both hold their own in Commons tournament. "Velos Tacos" is very strong in qualifying tournaments. We don't see much of the other hybrids in their tournaments, and we do still raid Indominus Rex once a week. We like

Raid

Indom is the only creature here to currently appear in raid strategies, so that would make Velo your main squeeze if Raids are your highest concern.

Overall

None of these truly stand out above the others no matter how you slice it, so your best use of time will be to dart whatever crosses your path.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2)
  • Dakotaraptor (Local 2 Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Dakotanops, Sinokotaraptor)
  • Spinotahraptor (Local 3 Anytime) (Spinotasuchus>Albertospinos)
  • Troodon (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Toodoboa)

Arena

Our order for those arena fiends would be TroodonSpinotah, Blue, Dakota. We like Albertospinos and Troodoboa as the best hybrids here, and then it really comes down to exclusivity. We give the slight edge to Troodon mainly because you'll want to use your Albertosaurus DNA for the new Unique, Albertocevia over the raidable and less potent, Albertospinos.

Tournament

None of these four actually has a large presence on its own, so we look to the hybrids to differentiate here. Sinokota and Indo2 are very strong Legendaries, while we find Albertospinos and Troodoboa to be about equal as Uniques. We would order these the same as the Arena section. If you are looking to enhance tournament options, we'd recommend going for the one that feeds the rarity you most need.

Raid

Indo2 is found in more raid strategies thanany other hybrid here, so you'd want to go with Blue in this case.

Overall

As these are all great choices, we don't feel you can go wrong with whichever you choose. It's times like this you might even spread your attempts over two or all three options.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Alloraptor (Event Exclusive) (Allodrigues)
  • Pyrritator (Event Exclusive) (Magnapyritor)

Arena

Alloraptor would be hands down the easiest choice ever if Ludia didn't decide to do us all dirty and announce during the update that Rodrigues Solitaire would be an Event Exclusive creature. Neither of these are "end game" in the arena, but Alloraptor is the better of the two if you're in a place where Legendaries abound. Plus it is made of the Event Exclusive, Allosaurus Gen 2, where Pyrritator's parts are roaming wild. It's TBD how Allorordigues performs, so we can't really make a comparison to Mags here.

Tournament

Similar to arena, Alloraptor is your stronger option here. Rarely will you see a Pyrritator in tournament but often you will run in the gnarly Alloraptor. And just like arena, it's TBD how Allorordigues performs, so we can't really make a comparison to Mags here. Flocks tend to be stronger, so that's what we'll guess until we're able to fully know.

Raid

Alloraptor is found in a small handful of raid strategies, but we do not really see the others.

Overall

Free Legendary DNA is always great, especially since there are no more "rules" about super hybrids making hybrids. We do prefer Alloraptor over Pyrritator, but you're not going to go wrong whichever you choose. Just make sure you get out and do one!

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Delta (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Velosrhacos, Alloraptor>Allodrigues)
  • Ornithomimus (Battle Exclusive) (Procerathomimus)
  • Oviraptor (Global Short Range) (Ovilophosaurus>Ovilophomoloch)
  • Utahraptor (Global Anytime) (Spinotahraptor>Spinotasuchus>Albertospinos, Utasinoraptor>Utarinex)

Arena

There is honestly nothing here that stands out above anything else when it comes to the Arena. We might have suggested Delta for the brand new Allorodrigues, but as previously mentioned, Ludia stabbed us straight in our guts and hearts by announcing mid update that Rodrigues Solitaire would not be wild but yet another Event Exclusive.

Tournament

Ornith is a fantastic Rare in qualifying tournaments, and being Battle Exclusive would surely be your top choice for enhancing your Rare Non Hybrid or All team. Even its hybrid, "Yoshi", does well in Epic Hybrid or all tournaments. Of the others, Alloraptor can be nasty in Legendary formats, and perhaps some day we'll have a live look at Allorodrigues in Unique format.

Raid

Nothing here is really commonly found in any raid strategies.

Overall

The rule of Exclusivity would suggest Ornith is the priority here, but we like Delta just as well. If you're unable to get out to hunt, Oviraptor is a nice choice due to its short range limitation. Twenty four is a lot of attempts over two days, and ultimately you're probably best spreading your attempts over two or more options.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Spring Event (Egg Hunter) themed and will reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found under event drops. Note - the calendar indicates Nest Protector logo on the Trials, but we have confirmed the Trials are Egg Hunter.

We have one dinosaur specific strike this week, a Spinotahraptor strike on Friday. We've also got the Boost Strikes on Thursday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Monday (Speed) and a Badge strike Sunday and an Emote strike Tuesday..

Scents

We have a basic scent strike on Monday, and prior to that will be a Nest Protector scent on Thursday. This scent can draw the following creatures when activated:

  • Dracorex Gen 2 (Common)
  • Iguanadon (Common)
  • Parasaurolophus (Common)
  • Edomontosaurus (Rare)
  • Fukuisaurus (Rare)
  • Tenontosaurus (Rare)
  • Maiasaura (Rare)
  • Ouranosaurus (Rare)
  • Stygimoloch (Epic)
  • Tsintausaurus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

We have what looks like the same cruddy Treasure Chase on Sunday where the chests can give DNA of the creatures under Event Drops or coins and can be hit every few hours. This is very subpar to our normal treasure chase, but it's better than nothing.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Phorurex pursuit with the Common, Phorusrhacos

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12pm Eastern - Tuesday, 12pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
