JWA Weekly Events Aug 17 to Aug 23: Migratory

Introduction

Explorers! About a month ago, we were asked to vote for a Migration Week, and here we have it! We were given some early information last week, but now we have more details around how it's set up. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

 Wednesday - Thursday: 27 attempts

  • Eremotherium (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Eremocerus)
  • Inostrancevia (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Inostherium, Edaphocevia>Albertocevia, Dodocevia)
  • Sinosauropteryx (Local 3 Anytime) (Sinokotaraptor)

Overall

This is a rare week we actually find some solid use in a couple of our Common options. Eremo is possibly the best Common around in eligible tournaments, even outclassing many in higher rarities. Inos, on another hand, is responsible for a lot of hybrids, and a couple great ones at that.

Friday: 9 Attempts

  • Lystrosaurus (Local 3 Anytime) (Lystrosuchus)
  • Microraptor (Local 2 Anytime) (Segnoraptor)
  • Pyroraptor (Local 2 Anytime) (Pyrritator>Magnapyritor)

Overall

Friday is going to be a whirlwind, as we only have one day to complete 9 attempts. This doesn't always leave a lot of room to be choosy, so our top recommendation will be to split your attempts over Lystro & Micro. We view these and their hybrids fairly equally. If you have time to put all your eggs in one Epic basket, then we like Micro a little more than Lystro. This is mainly due to it being around less time. We find either or both to be fine options and do not advocate for using your attempts on Pyro unless absolutely necessary.

Saturday - Sunday: 9 Attempts

  • Rinchenia (Regional Anytime) (Rinchicyon)
  • Stegoceras (Regional) (Glyptoceras)
  • Struthomimus (Regional) (Fukuimimus)

Overall

We were super grateful to see they split the Epics over 2 days, and we love that they are running this set alongside their hybrids that make up our Legendary attempts. This is actually the very first time we have had Stegoceras featured in an event, though we wouldn't suggest getting too excited. It is by far the worst of this bunch (as is its hybrid). Basically, if you are in Struth or Rinch region, you want to choose the other. If you are in Stego region, you have to choose between the two or spit your attempts over them. We'd put Strutho above Rinch mainly because the Rinchenia raid has been around longer than Fukuimimus. Also, Fukuimimus is currently the best of the 3 hybrids these choices make.

Saturday - Sunday: 3 Attempts

  • Fukuimimus (Event Exclusive)
  • Glyptoceras (Event Exclusive)
  • Rinchicyon (Event Exclusive)

Overall

Ludia is feeling generous again this week by allowing us THREE attempts at these Legendary options. We pretty well covered these in the Epics Day 2 section, but we'll go over it again for those who may have jumped right here. Glyptoceras is really not worth your time. If you are in Rinch or Strutho region, you'll want to set your sights on the hybrid of the other one. If you're in Stegoceras region, you'll have to choose between the others or split your attempts over them. We like Fukui the best, but Rinch is not a terrible alternative at all. You can't go wrong with either so just be sure to get out there and do your attempts. We have two days, so you have time to be picky if you want. These are usable in this and next week's tournaments as an added bonus.

Monday - Tuesday: 24 attempts

  • Archaeopteryx (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Argenteryx)
  • Dreadnoughtus (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Dreadactylus)
  • Megalonyx (Local 1 Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Megalotops)
  • Preondactylus (Local 1 Anytime) (Ankylodactylus, Dreadactylus)

Overall

This is one of the best groups of Rares we've seen maybe all time. Every one of these has a great hybrid, and they each can also perform really well on their own in qualifying tournaments. This is actually fairly refreshing  when having so many attempts to do over only a couple of days. Chances are you'll need to spread your attempts over multiple choices, and you can't go wrong with any. We do like Megalonyx the least for what that's worth but only because both it and its hybrid are raidable. If we had to put this in an order of preference, we would say Preon, Dread, Archae, Mega. Preon has two very great hybrids, Dread is the newest kid on the block, we all know how insane Archae's hybrid is, and we already explained why we put Megalonyx at the bottom.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
