Introduction

Hello explorers! Luke AKA Lucus1355 and Kelly AKA Kelociraptor here and welcome to “Weekly Events”.

There seems to be an exciting ch-ch-chill in the air this week as from February 4th to 20th, the Winter Olympics will be taking place in Beijing.

So, all you sporting explorers, aim for the top spots be it Bronze, Silver or Gold in the Jurassic World Alive’s WINTER SPORTS WEEK!!

With that in mind and hopefully not too much sh-shivering, we shall be skiing, skating and snowboarding through Luke’s recommendations of which of this week’s featured creatures to dart. After which, we’ll bobsleigh, luge and be curling our way with Kelly’s break down of the rest that this sporting week has to offer.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = Varies but tends to usually be 2 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last about 35 minutes with about 5 minutes between. Epics last about 30 minutes with about 5 minutes in between. Legendaries & Uniques last about 27 minutes with about 3 minutes in between. Many thanks to Lilikoi of Dom Tuoretto for helping us nail down those cycle times!

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Wednesday - Thursday: 24 attempts

  • Archaeotherium (Monday) (Inostherium, Keratoporcus)
  • Brontotherium (Battle Exclusive) (Brontolasmus)
  • Eremotherium (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Eremocerus)

Archaeotherium is a fierce, small pig; immune to stun, vulnerability and speed decreases. It can increase its teams attack and speed with ‘Mutual Fury’ and can hit all its opponents with its ‘Group Defence Shattering Strike’. It’s not a bad choice to put into rare raids battles but there are much better choices.

Eremotherium is an ancient ground sloth that is a high choice for a Common tournament team; able to increase its speed and 75% chance to dodge 67% of attacks, this makes Eremotherium difficult to hit. Every time it is hit, it counters causing damage to the opponent. Lastly, it can cause some big damage with its ‘Cunning Rampage’.

Brontotherium resembles a giant rhinoceros and is also a high choice for Common tournaments due to its ‘Swap In Defence’ putting up shields. It also has 20% armour and can put up more shields with its ‘Shielded Taunting Strike’ ability. Finally, its ‘Resilient Impact’ can cause a lot of damage and inflict vulnerability to the opponent; removing cloak, dodge and speed increases too.

Out of these common creatures and their hybrids, here is a tier list showing their usefulness in PvP battles:

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Antarctopelta (Local 4 Anytime) (Antarctovenator)
  • Megalotops (Event Exclusive)
  • Oviraptor Gen 2 (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk)
  • Woolly Rhino (Event Exclusive) (Keratoporcus, Monolorhino)

Woolly Rhino is here with its ‘Swap In Stunning Strike’, causing a lot of damage bypassing armour and a 67% chance to stun. It can put up 50% shields, and has a priority ability to put up 100% shields too. Lastly, its ‘Resilient Impact’ causes big damage to its opponent, causing vulnerability also. All in all, this places the Woolly Rhino as an honourable mention when Epic tournaments come around.

Oviraptor Gen 2 is still without a hybrid and has one of the stranger, more diverse ability sets in the game. ‘Critical Strike’ hits the opponent with a priority, sure critical hit. ‘Group Critical Alert’ also increases Oviraptor Gen 2’s critical chance, along with its teammates and also reduces the opponents damage, both by 100% or 50% dependent on Oviraptor Gen 2 being ‘Threatened’. Its ‘Swap In Dodge’ causes an 100% chance to dodge 67% of attacks, and its ‘Darting Counter’, like that of the Unique Diloracheirus causing damage to its opponent and giving Oviraptor Gen 2 a small speed boost. Its rampage does deal heavy damage but has a 1 turn delay.

Megalotops is arguably one of the best Epics in the game at this time, due mainly to its ability to have a dodge up most turns, if not all which is usually accompanied by a reduction in the opponent’s damage. Its priority ability ‘Camouflage’ increases its speed and gives 75% chance to dodge 67% of attacks, along with lowering the opponent’s attack. Further to this, its ‘Cautious Rampage’ does much the same, but swaps the priority effect to a precise one. Dependent on its health, when Megalotops swaps in it can stun with 100% or 33% chance. When the opponent swaps out, it causes Megalotops to gain effects similar to its ‘Camouflage’ ability, with the addition of a critical chance increase. Each time its attacked, Megalotops counter attacks bypassing the opponent’s armour. The final but not last point about this creature is that Megalotops’ precise ‘Determined Strike’ ability can cleanse its reduced damage and damage over time, remove its opponents damage, critical chance and speed increases, and cause vulnerability, reduced damage and reduced critical chance. So, so much going on here for this amazing creature. No wonder it hasn’t a hybrid through fear over OP.

Much like the Woolly Rhino, Antarctopelta is given an honourable mention when Epic tournaments come around. This is an anti-flock creature, reducing its opponents speed with ‘Decelerating Counter‘ attack and a priority ability able to increase its damage output. Further to this, its ‘Superior Vulnerabilty’ attack causes speed reduction and imposes vulnerability. Lastly, and the main event of this creature is its ‘Taunting Resilient Group Impact’; removing cloak, dodge and speed increases, imposing vulnerability onto the opponent, and cleansing Antarctopelta’s reduced damage while gaining shields.

Featured Creatures: Legendary

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Fukuimimus (Event Exclusive)
  • Panthera Blythae (Event Exclusive)
  • Tsintamoth (Event Exclusive)

Tsintamoth has an interesting set of skills under its belt which makes it a sort of team healer but also a small threat to flocks. ‘Group Cleansing Impact’ will cleanse its team of negative effects and ‘Group Heal’ looking to heal a moderate amount of its team’s health. Its ‘Group Decelerating Impact’ targets all opponents and looks to reduce their speed. Finally, this creature is able to boost its attack for 2 turns/2 attacks which makes it able to take down those flocks faster with heavier damage and also heal their team far more.

Panthera Blytheae, arguably now one of the strongest Legendary creatures in the game. It is immune to damage decrease, critical chance decrease, stun and speed decreases. It swaps in causing damage over time and reducing the opponents speed also, and with every attack, Panthera Blytheae counter attacks, nullifying all of its opponent’s positive effects. Panthera Blytheae priority ‘Evasive Hunt’ increases its speed and damage, as well as the unique ability to dodge 100% of an opponent’s attack (apart from Preondactylus’ swap in ability). This is a fierce set up for either of its big moves: ‘Precise Double Strike’ and ‘Cunning Rampage’. ‘Precise Double Strike’ hits twice for awesome precise damage or if you prefer that damage in one go then ‘Cunning Rampage’ is for you; cleansing Panthera Blytheae of damage over time, removing the opponents damage and critical chance increases and also reducing them. A must have in Legendary tournaments, and even possibly Unique ones also. Don’t mess with this cat or you get the prehistoric claws.

Fukuimimus is the dark horse of tournaments; used to be an unstoppable, annoying force to be reconned with new legendary creatures came into game existence. It is still a top choice for your Legendary tournament team and here’s why. Firstly, its 2 heals: ‘Shelter’ and ‘Remedy’. ‘Shelter’ looks to give a bigger health recovery along with increasing its speed and cleansing all negative effects. On the other hand, ‘Remedy’ is a priority ability causing a slightly smaller heal, cleansing all negative effects and a dodge with 100% chance to dodge 67% of attacks. On swap in, it reduces the opponents damage by 100% and every time it’s hit, counters by increasing its damage by 10% for 2 turns/2 attacks. Its biggest weapon has a 2-turn delay and a 1 turn cooldown. “Group Cunning Rampage” hits like a brick wall in that it hits all opponents, cleansing Fukuimimus of damage over time, removing the opponents damage and critical chance increases and also reducing them. Lastly, it is immune to reduced damage and critical chance reduction, 75% resistant to swapping out and 50% resistant to speed decreases and stun. Don’t count this Hadrosaurid out just yet.

  • Arctodus (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Arctalces>Arctovasilas)
  • Cervalces (Event Exclusive) (Arctalces>Arctovasilas)
  • Dire Wolf (Event Exclusive) (Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Megalonyx (Local 1 Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Megalotops)

Arctodus is the Bear King’s baby brother. With its ‘Defensive Edge’ breaking the opponents shields and giving Arctodus its own shields and an attack boost. Arctodus is able to slow its opponents down or have a chance to stun them dependant on its health at the time, but either way imposing vulnerability. Finally, it can cleanse its vulnerability and reduced damage; remove speed increases, bypass armour and hit with precision.

Cervalces is Arctodus’ counterpart in the creating build-up for the Bear King. Cervalces is able to heal on swap in and with ‘Dig In’, also giving it a speed boost, cleansing all negative effects and shields. Further shields are formed on the using of its ‘Shielded Decelerating Impact’ along with a precise attack on the opponent, reducing speed.

Dire Wolf is back once more in trying to help fuse and create its stronger hybrid forms. Dire Wolf is a good choice for Rare raids as its increases its teams speed and damage for several turns. It is also able to gain health back through devour heal by using ‘Devouring Impact’. It is also able to reduce the targets armour which could be vital at times and if the opponent goes to swap out, Dire Wolf will reduce their armour to 0.

Megalonyx is a must have in Rare tournaments likes its Epic hybrid. It is also difficult to catch for a clean hit due mainly to its ability to have a dodge up most turns, if not all which is usually accompanied by a reduction in the opponent’s damage. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Its priority ability ‘Camouflage’ increases its speed and gives 75% chance to dodge 67% of attacks, along with lowering the opponent’s attack. Further to this, its ‘Cautious Rampage’ does much the same, but swaps the priority effectt to a precise one. When the opponent swaps out, it causes Megalonyx to gain effects similar to its ‘Camouflage’ ability, with the addition of a critical chance increase. Each time its attacked, Megalonyx hits its opponent with a ‘Maximal Counter-Attack’. All in all, like hybrid Father, like non hybrid son.

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.
