JWA Weekly Events Feb 15 to Feb 21: Valentines II

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Hello explorers! Luke AKA Lucus1355 and Kelly AKA Kelociraptor here and welcome to “Weekly Events”.

Love is in the air judging by the week Ludia has ahead of us for Valentines. Everywhere you look around there are chances to get close and comfortable with some favourite JWA creatures. But, with it only being Part 1 of 2 weeks of lovey-dovey events, what could the second week possibly hold?

Without further ado, lets chat up and flirt about our recommendations of what to dart with Luke, before we look longingly at the rest this week has to offer with Kelly!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = Varies but tends to usually be 2 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last about 35 minutes with about 5 minutes between. Epics last about 30 minutes with about 5 minutes in between. Legendaries & Uniques last about 27 minutes with about 3 minutes in between. Many thanks to Lilikoi of Dom Tuoretto for helping us nail down those cycle times!

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 attempts

  • Miragaia (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Megalogaia, Dsungaia>Dsungascorpios)
  • Stegosaurus (Saturday ) (Stegoceratops>Monostegotops, Stegodeus)
  • Velociraptor (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus/Indoraptor/Indonemys, Indoraptor)

Stegosaurus can hit all its opponents and slow them down in the process. It’s also able to remove opponents dodge and speed boost, along with afflicting vulnerability. Its worth keeping in mind that Stegosaurus’ Legendary hybrid takes a lot of DNA to create and level up.

Miragaia could be worth having on your team in Common Tournaments. It’s able to slow its opponents down and gain a shield in doing so. It’s counter attack also slows its opponent down. Lastly, it can priority heal half of its health and cleanse all negative effects.

Velociraptor is to be considered when making a Common Tournament team. With its 132 speed, immunity to reduced damage and high damage ability and move output, it’s a deadly predator. It has a strong hybrid line also.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday: 12 Attempts

  • Allosaurus Gen 2 (Event Exclusive) (Alloraptor>Allodrigues)
  • Diplodocus (Event Exclusive) (Geminititan)
  • Tiger (Global Short Range Dawn/Dusk)
  • Titanoboa (Event Exclusive) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor)

Titanoboa is something to consider when building a team for an Epic tournament. If the opponent looks to swap out, they will take a lot of damage from Titanoboa. It is able to slow its opponent down and cause large, precise damage with its rampage ability.

Diplodocus is a strong choice for Epic tournament teams, mainly due to its massive health and damage output. It’s able to hit all opponents with its rampage, causing their speed to reduce. Diplodocus can put shields up and when attacking, break the opponents shields bypassing their armour. Lastly, swapping in this creature can slow down its opponent.

Allosaurus Gen 2 is immune to damage over time and swap prevention effects. It can dish out reasonable damage and has a 40% chance to crit. Lastly, after a 1 turn delay, it’s able to attack causing 60% rend damage.

Tiger it still yet to obtain a hybrid but it too is something to consider when building a team for an Epic tournament. On swap in, Tiger gains shields and when attacked, counter attacks, breaking the opponents shields and bypassing their armour. It is able to slow its opponents down, and although its berserk ability causes 33% damage to Tiger, it is able to precisely hit the opponent and gets a cloak causing double damage to the opponent the following turn.

Saturday: 2 Attempts

  • Alloraptor (Event Exclusive) (Allodrigues)
  • Pyrosuchus (Event Exclusive) (Pyrorixis)
  • Scorpios Rex (Event Exclusive)

Alloraptor is one of the best Legendary creatures in the game at the moment, with its abilities to cause damage when swapped in, and when the opponent tries to swap out. It may only have one move on its first turn, but this increases Alloraptor’s damage and reduces that of its opponents. Following this, it is then able to use 2 ‘Rampage’ abilities and a 60% Rending attack. With Alloraptor at 130 speed, 40% critical chance and some good resistances, it’s a must have for Legendary Tournaments.

Scorpios Rex’s has an array of resistances but its best ability is when it is swapped in. The effects can be almost duplicated by using its ability ‘Camouflage’. After that it’s a choice of attack between causing damage over time, lowering the opponents damage or breaking shields.

Pyrosuchus is a creature that ‘could’ fill a gap on your Legendary Tournament team. It has 2 priority abilities; 1 lowering the opponents attack and the other putting up shields. It’s able to stun its opponents 50% of the time and also increase its own attack. Lastly, when this creature is attacked, it will counter by nullifying all its opponent’s positive effects.

Featured Creatures: Legendary Group 2

Sunday: 2 Attempts

  • Lystrosuchus (Event Exclusive) (Lystrosavis)
  • Segnoraptor (Event Exclusive)
  • Tarbognathus (Event Exclusive) (Compsoraptor)

Tarbognathus is a close to top team choice when it comes to Legendary Tournaments. This is due to it having the 2nd highest attack of all the flock creatures. Furthermore, its able to rally heal when swapping in and via its ability, ‘Alert Shattering Impact’. If an opponent looks to swap out, then Tarbognathus will be causing high damage, bypassing armour. Lastly, it has two priority abilities; one is an attack that gives it a dodge or a 100% critical chance depending on Tarbognathus’ health, and the other cleanses all its negative effects and gives it a dodge.

Segnoraptor is another close to top team choice when it comes to Legendary Tournaments. It is very quick at 134 speed, with 5 resistances at 50% or higher. It has abilities allowing it to increase its speed, its attack strength, decrease its opponents attack and best of all, attack 3 times in a row! Finally, its rampage ability allows it to attack and then swap out automatically.

Lystrosuchus is yet another close to top team choice when it comes to Legendary Tournaments. It has a difficult first turn with only one ability to use, but after this it has a rampage, a great priority healing ability and has a 75% chance to stun its opponent before automatically swapping out. It is but only one of two flock creatures to have a swap in stun ability, and Lystrosuchus’ ability if the opponent decides to swap out, isn’t half bad either.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Dire Wolf (Event Exclusive) (Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Marsupial Lion (Battle Exclusive) (Thylacotator>Thylos Intredpidus, Thylaconyx>Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Pyroraptor Gen 2 (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Pyrosuchus>Pyrorixis)
  • Triceratops (Sunday) (Stegoceratops>Monostegotops)

Marsupial Lion is a good to great choice for low rarity raids due to its 34% and its 60% rend damage abilities. It can increase the damage it gives out by increasing its critical chance using its priority ability ‘Prowl’. This move also gives it a dodge. Finally, any attack on Marsupial Lion will end with it counter attacking.

Pyroraptor Gen 2 is able to reduce its opponents damage using 2 out of 3 of its abilities and its counter reduces all opponents’ damage. Further to this, its 3rd ability nullifies all the opponent’s positive effects. Its hybrid line is the main reason for darting this creature.

Dire Wolf is back again for another week and this creature is a good creature to use in those Rare raids as it can increase, not only its damage and speed but its teammates also. It has the ability to devour heal and it is able to lower the armour of its opponents, even more so if they look to escape. Its hybrid line too, is the main reason to dart this creature.

Triceratops has its swap in ability causing damage and a 67% chance to stun. It also has an attack with a 75% chance to stun too and it’s able to heal, while giving itself shields and a speed boost.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

When choosing what to dart, it can depend on your player level. So, think about the creatures’ hybrids, working out which hybrid or future hybrids would be a best fit for your team or to help you achieve any goals you may have; how far these hybrids are away from being created for yourself and finally, by looking at ‘creature tier lists’, for example the ‘Popularity’ and ‘Community Rankings’ tier lists.

Yet another lovely jam-packed week of JWA ahead of us all. Part 2 has delivered. Once more keeping with the weekly theme, we’d love you to give your suggestions, opinions and Jurassic love stories; perhaps which creature you love most, or maybe you met a love interest through Archaeology or over JWA. Also, of course with what you plan to dart and why. Join our Discord and get in the discussion today!

And leaving you with that, from Kelly and Luke here at GamePress, thank you for reading and spread the prehistoric LOVE!!
