Introduction

Hello explorers! Luke AKA Lucus1355 and Kelly AKA Kelociraptor here and welcome to “Weekly Events”.

This week’s theme revolves around a Western Christian festive season that occurs before Lent that involving participants indulging in excessive consumption of drink, overeating, and various other activities of indulgence. This, for a final time before being given up for the upcoming Lent.

It Carnival time, but watch out, there’s Carnivore’s about!

It Carnivore Carnival Week!!

So, let’s talk about Luke’s recommendations of which creature to dart before Kelly breaks down the rest that this week has to offer.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = Varies but tends to usually be 2 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last about 35 minutes with about 5 minutes between. Epics last about 30 minutes with about 5 minutes in between. Legendaries & Uniques last about 27 minutes with about 3 minutes in between. Many thanks to Lilikoi of Dom Tuoretto for helping us nail down those cycle times!

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 attempts

  • Dilophosaurus (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Ovilophosaurus, Diloranosaurus>Diloracheirus)
  • Suchomimus (Battle Exclusive) (Suchotator>Thylacotator>Thylos Intrepidus)
  • Tarbosaurus (Global Anytime) (Thoradolosaur, Tarbognathus>Compsoraptor)

Suchomimus is a damage over time creature that looks to be in Common tournament teams. Its able to stop creatures from swapping out with ‘No Escape’ and can also break shields, bypassing armour.

Dilophosaurus Gen 2 is one of the slower Common Cunning creatures at 121 speed. However, it is immune to reducing its damage and can cause a general amount of pain for a creature of its type, class and rarity.

Tarbosaurus is also a creature that looks to be in Common tournament teams for its sheer strength and power. With two abilities bypassing armour, with the weaker of the two also breaking shields; adding that to its high critical chance can cause major damage to opponents.

Out of these common creatures and their hybrids, here is a tier list showing their usefulness in PvP battles:

Friday: 9 Attempts

  • Giganotosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Giganyx)
  • Pulmonoscorpios (Event Exclusive) (Dsungascorpios)
  • Red (Global Short Range Anytime) (Atrocodistis)

Red is seemingly able to counter most opponents with a good range of resistances and abilities. It’s priority ability, ‘Accelerating Shielded Distraction’ gives Red shields and an increase in speed, whilst reducing the damage of the opponent. Although its ‘Berserk Resilient Rampage’ sacrifices 33% of Red’s health, it cleanses reduced damage, removes dodge, cloak and opponent speed increases at the same time as imposing vulnerability, bypassing armour and attacking all opponents.

Pulmonoscorpius is a must have in Epic tournament teams and also a recommended choice for Legendary tournament teams too. It counters attacks that it takes with damage over time. Its best ability is ‘Enfeebling Impact’; nullifying all opponents’ positive effects, causes damage over time and has a sure stun. It has a good range of resistances and is also able to break shields, bypassing armour with its other abilities.

Giganotosaurus has a range of resistances, a high critical chance and a lot of health for a fierce creature. Opponents swapping out will cause Giganotosaurus to increase its critical chance and when threatened on swap in, Giganotosaurus looks to stun its opponents while healing 100% of its and its opponent’s health. With two devour attacks, one of which being a group attack, and with a ‘Fierce Rampage’, it’s a high flyer for Epic tournament teams when it fits in with your other 7 creatures.

Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2>Indolycan)
  • Moros Intrepidus (Event Exclusive) (Thylos Intrepidus)
  • Smilodon (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Smilocephalosaurus>Smilonemys>Indonemys)

Moros Intrepidus seems one of the weaker flocks but it breaks the opponents shields, bypassing armour and causing damage on swap in. It is able to devour heal, while breaking shields and bypassing armour.

Blue is unable to be stunned and have its damage reduced. Each of Blue’s abilities nearly have their own effects; one to reduce opponent’s damage, one to increase dodge and one to cause precise damage whilst also reducing the opponent’s damage.

Smilodon is also able to cause precise damage whilst also reducing the opponent’s damage. It’s priority ‘Prowl’ increases its dodge and critical chance with its ‘Evasive Strike’ causing damage and increasing Smilodon’s dodge too.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Sunday - Monday: 18 Attempts

  • Dire Wolf (Event Exclusive) (Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Marsupial Lion (Battle Exclusive) (Thylacotator>Thylos Intredpidus, Thylaconyx>Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Pyroraptor Gen 2 (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Pyrosuchus>Pyrorixis)
  • Triceratops (Sunday) (Stegoceratops>Monostegotops)

Tyrannosaurus Rex Gen 2 is the highest damaging Rare creature without a rend ability. However, its strongest move is only able to bypass armour, whereas its two lesser moves can bypass armour and break the opponents shields.

Dimetrodon has immunity to damage over time, being stunned, having its speed reduced and becoming vulnerable. It can attack with a sure chance to crit with its other abilities breaking shields and bypassing armour when on the attack.

Baryonyx Gen 2 is a good choice to use in Rare raids; to cleanse and increase Baryonyx Gen 2’s and its teammates critical chance and damage. It can also break shields and bypass armour on the attack

Albertosaurus is a strong choice for rare tournaments due to its good range of resistances, high critical chance and high damage. Albertosaurus has 3 fierce attacking abilities breaking shields and bypassing armour, two at the same strength and one of those being a priority attack.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Tuesday: 1 Attempt

  • Arctalces (Event Exclusive) (Arctovasilas)
  • Spinoceratops (Event Exclusive)

We love that they are moving the single attempt day off the weekend which allows us more time for the Rares.

Arctalces is one half of the ingredients needed to create the Bear King, Arctovasilas. Arctalces however, accelerates on the escape of opponents and heals on swap in. It’s able to heal using the ability ‘Dig In’, while also increasing its speed and gaining shields. On one hand it can bypass armour with precision, and on the other hand is capable of imposing vulnerability whilst either slowing the opponent down or having a chance to stun (dependent on Arctalces’ health). Finally, it can break its opponents shields at the same time as putting its own shields up and getting an attack boost.

Spinoceratops is a well-resisted creature at the top of the Legendary game so is a MUST-HAVE for Legendary tournaments and can be seen in some Unique tournament teams too. It is also able to bypass armour with precision but it can also cause damage over time. Its two priority moves cause big rend damage and the ability to heal, cleanse and gain armour. Finally, it looks to stun and will cause damage both when Spinoceratops is swapped in, and when the opponents look to swap out.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

When choosing what to dart, it can depend on your player level. So, think about the creatures’ hybrids, working out which hybrid or future hybrids would be a best fit for your team or to help you achieve any goals you may have; how far these hybrids are away from being created for yourself and finally, by looking at ‘creature tier lists’, for example the ‘Popularity’ and ‘Community Rankings’ tier lists.

That certainly is a carnival of carnivorous creatures to consume continuously for this calendar week. How’s about telling how you celebrated? What are you looking to give up for Lent? Also, of course what you plan to dart and why. Join our Discord and get in the discussion today!

And leaving you with that, from Kelly and Luke here at GamePress, thank you for reading and good luck with your Lent!
