JWA Weekly Events Jul 13 to Jul 19: Summer Sports

Introduction

Explorers! The votes we made a few weeks back are in, and we were teased this event late last week. It's finally time to spend a week around the winning Summer Sports selections. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

 Wednesday - Thursday: 36 attempts

  • Einiosaurus (Global Dawn/Dusk) (Einiasuchus>Sarcorixis)
  • Nundasuchus (Thursday) (Einiasuchus>Sarcorixis, Majundasuchus>Majundaboa>Troodoboa)
  • Purussaurus Gen 2 (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Purrolyth>Grypolyth)
  • Stegosaurus (Saturday) (Stegoceratops>Monostegotops, Stegodeus)

Overall

The long and short of these two days (which is really going to be the same for almost all groups of Commons) is 36 is a lot of attempts, it's really tough to get excited about any commons, and we don't find any of these worth spending extra time to specifically seek out. You're best off saving your hunting prowess and energy for the other rarities and sticking with whatever might cross your path. Putting them in an order of Exclusivity (and accounting a little bit for hybrids), they would go Nunda, Stego, Pur2, Einio.

Voting Poll

As of Wednesday morning, almost everyone who voted in our Discord poll will be darting whatever crosses their path. People are so disinterested in the Commons, very few even took the second to click an option.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Allosaurus Gen 2 (Event Exclusive) (Alloraptor>Allodrigues)
  • Anurognathus (Event Exclusive) (Ardontognathus)
  • Baryonyx (Local 1) (Tryostronix>Giganyx)
  • Giganotosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Giganyx)

Overall

This pool of Epics gives us a little more to feel excited about with THREE Event Exclusives, all of which are responsible for great hybrids. Though they have been shoving Giganoto at us for weeks, we think this is your best choice with it being the newest kid on the block. This doesn't mean Anurog or Allo2 are poor choices, we just assume you have more of their DNA saved up and/or used toward their hybrids. We do not suggest choosing Bary over these others, as this one left the realm of Exclusivity a few updates ago and can once again be hunted. You will also have the opportunity in the weekend tournament to win Bary DNA.

Featured Creatures: Rare

Sunday - Tuesday: 24 attempts

  • Baryonyx Gen 2 (Local 2 Anytime) (Spinonyx>Erlikospyx, Thylaconyx)
  • Dracorex (Event Exclusive) (Utarinex)
  • Fukuisaurus (Local 3 Anytime) (Fukuimimus)
  • Preondactylus (Local 1 Anytime) (Ankylodactylus)

Overall

As much as we appreciate darting opportunities at Legendary and/or Unique creatures, it feels refreshing to have three full days to do our Rare attempts. You might consider spending the Commons days contemplating what you'll choose here because this is about as tough as it gets. First there is your Event Exclusive option in Draco. This little green monster performs exceptionally well in qualifying tournaments, and our Datamine has indicated the hybrid may be getting a buff in 2.17. Remember, though, Datamine is not official information and may never be deployed to the actual game. Luckily we will have notes prior to Sunday and will officially know more. The one we like most is Preon, despite being a wild spawn, it seems one of the rarer rares. It's also responsible for two top tier Legendary hybrids, so you'll need a TON if you want to work on both. If you're not feeling those two, then we'd suggest Fukui as the next best. Anyone who's faced its hybrid knows this may be the best Legendary in the game. We don't suggest this over the first two because we do get to raid Fukuimimus once per week. Lastly, there's Bary2, and we really can not find a reason for you to choose this over the other three. There's no harm or judgment if you do, but we truly like the other options much better.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Summer Sports themed and can reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found at event drops (very very rarely, you could get super lucky and be awarded Legendary).

We will have two flocktastic dinosaur specific strikes this week, a Compy2 strike on Thursday, and a Dodo strike on Friday. We've also got the Boost Strikes on Wednesday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Monday (Speed) with a Badge strike Tuesday.

Scents

It seems they've done away with the generic scent strikes, as both this week will be Charger scent (Thursday & Monday). This scent can draw the following when activated:

  • Dracorex Gen 2 (Common)
  • Einiosaurus (Common)
  • Stygimoloch Gen 2 (Common)
  • Triceratops Gen 2 (Common)
  • Dracorex (Rare)
  • Triceratops (Rare)
  • Sinoceratops (Epic)
  • Stygimoloch (Epic)

Treasure Chase

We have our standard treasure chase on Sunday. You can collect up to 25,000 coins through each period (Sunday will run 11am Eastern to 8pm Eastern, then it will reset until 11am Eastern Monday - this allows 2 total chances at the coins!

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Parasauthops pursuit with another go at the Event Exclusive Arctops!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12pm Eastern - Tuesday, 12pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

We're excited as usual for a fun week with some awesome options. We also have Notes planned on Thursday with Update 2.17 likely to follow Tuesday. Be sure to check back once notes officially drop, as that may modify some of our suggestions. Speaking of that, when making our suggestions, we tend to lean toward the end game but understand not everyone is quite there.
