JWA Weekly Events Mar 16 - Mar 22: St Patricks

Introduction

Explorers! Our next event theme celebrates green in the spirit of St Patrick's Day. This is always a great event with excellent DNA, a slew of strike towers, and multiple days of coin chase. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 36 Attempts

  • Diplocaulus (Park Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Diplotator>Scaphotator)
  • Stygimoloch Gen 2 (Global Anytime) (Ovilophomoloch, Stygidaryx)
  • Tarbosaurus (Global Anytime) (Thoradolosaur)
  • Triceratops Gen 2 (Global Anytime) (Dracoceratops>Dracoceratosaurus)

Two of these were featured for 2021 St Patrick's Day (Diplo & Tarbo), and none of these really stands out over the others. If you don't have easy access to parks, Diplo would be a good idea as the others are available everywhere, all the time. Thirty six is a lot of attempts over two days, and it may be in your best interest of time to just dart whatever you stumble upon.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Baryonyx (Local 1 Day/Dawn /Dust) (Tryostronix)
  • Edaphosaurus (Park Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Edaphocevia)
  • Sinoceratops (Local 1 Anytime) (Allosinosaurus>Thoradolosaur, Utasinoraptor>Utarinex)
  • Troodon (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Toodoboa)

These are all fine choices with Sino feeding the most hybrids. We just had Troodon last week, but it's required for the new and mighty Unique Troodoboa. This will be my personal choice, though I've already maxed Tryos and Bary and I live next to a park and see Edaph often enough. Tryos is one of the most used creatures in raid strategies, and Bary was Battle Exclusive until recently. Bary is also very strong in qualifying tournaments, so this creates a lot of appeal for it. Those who don't have easy access to parks might like this opportunity at the Edaph DNA. Its hybrid isn't particularly strong at this point, but that could change. Ultimately, you'll want to evaluate your personal needs and goals and might even spread your attempts over multiple options.

Featured Creatures: Uniques

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Albertospinos (Event Exclusive)
  • Diorajasaurus (Event Exclusive) (Ankylos Lux)
  • Troodoboa (Event Exclusive)

We love the rare opportunities for free Unique DNA, and these are all excellent options. We have two of the newest (and quite powerful) with Alberto and Troodo, and of course Dio is now part of the fusible Apex, Ankylos Lux. We might give Alberto a small edge due to it requiring the Event Exclusive, Albertosaurus. None of these three truly stand above the rest, so pick your favorite and just make sure you get out and do it!

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Argentinosaurus (Monday) (Ardontosaurus>Ardentismaxima/Ardontognathus)
  • Charlie (Battle Exclusive) (Erlikogamma)
  • Dracorex (Event Exclusive) (Utarinex)
  • Tupandactylus (Global Anytime) (Dimodactylus, Poukandactylus)

It's a bit of a bummer they didn't do like last time we had Legenary attempt and spread the Rares over Sunday and Monday, allowing one weekend day for so many attempts. We only had 3 options in 2021, and this year they've added Tupand to the mix. That doesn't really change much when we're looking at two which are Exclusive and one that's only available one day a week. We like Argentina here with the recent addition of another Unique hybrid out of its hybrid, Ardontosaurus. Of course this one is going to take some time until we see some Anurognathus events, so you might just be patient and wit for Mondays to roll around to dart Argentina. Dracorex would be our second choice due to its Event Exclusivity and also its strength on its own in qualifying tournaments. Next up we like Charlie simply because you can only get this DNA through battle incubators, and it has a nice hybrid in Erlikogamma which performs well in qualifying tournaments well. It's difficult to suggest Tupand over any of these due to the fact it can be found everywhere, all the time. With 24 attempts in just two days, of course it may be in your best interest to split your attempts over a couple or more.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be St. Patrick's themed and will reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found under event drops.

We have just one dinosaur specific strike this week, a Compsognathus tower on Friday! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Thursday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Monday (Speed) as well as a Title strike on Sunday and an Emote strike Tuesday.

Scents

We have a basic scent strike on Monday, and prior to that will be St. Patricks scent on Thursday. This scent can draw the same Common, Rare, and Epic creatures found under event drops. In the past, they have also disbursed this scent from supply drops. If that's the case, be prepared for a lot of walking this week to be sure to take advantage of them all!

Treasure Chase

The calendar shows a treasure chase spread over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We imagine it will reward up to 25,000 coins per period. There's also the possibility of other resources, so double check the i button before popping one in case you need to clear room for FIPs.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week concluds the Megalotops pursuit with the Rare Nasutoceratops!

We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
