JWA Weekly Events Sep 7 to Sep 13: Wild Card

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Explorers! The early information we were provided last week is official with our Wild Card week ahead fresh off of update 2.18. We'll also be getting make-up attempts on Stegoceras which was missing in the Migration event a couple weeks ago. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

 Wednesday - Thursday: 27 attempts

  • Dilophosaurus Gen 2 (Global Anytime) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor, Tyrannolophosaur>Tenontorex)
  • Inostrancevia (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Inostherium, Edaphocevia>Albertocevia, Dodocevia)
  • Tanycolagerus (Global Anytime) (Quetzorion)

Overall

The last time we had Wild Card was October 2021 and while the options haven't changed, our thoughts have. At that time, we found them to be a snooze fest. We did like Inos enough then, but we like it even more since the introduction of Albertocevia in to the game. The slight attack nerf does not have much effect on Ace's viability, and it should remain one of the top used creatures..

NOTE that we will also have 6 attempts at Stegoceras over these two days to make up for the error in programming when we had the Migration event a couple weeks ago. These will run congruent with the Common attempts.

Friday - Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Megalotops (Event Exclusive)
  • Thylacotator (Event Exclusive) (Thylos Intrepidus)
  • Tsintaosaurus (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Tsintamoth)

Overall

These are also the same options we had with our last Wild Card event, and at that time we recommended choosing the hybrids. We view them both pretty equal at least as how they stand on their own in qualifying tournaments. With the recent addition of Thylos Intrepidus, we give a slight edge to Thyla here. It will save you a lot of fusions that require the Battle Exclusive component of Marsupial Lion. Megalotops can be raided and is fused from creatures which can be found in the wild.

Sunday: 3 Attempts

  • Carnotarkus (Event Exclusive)
  • Coelhaast (Event Exclusive)
  • Monostegotops (Event Exclusive)
  • Segnoraptor (Event Exclusive)
  • Tsintamoth (Event Exclusive)

Overall

We only had 1 attempt and had an easy choice between Coelhaast and Tsintamoth last year. This year, they are giving us more attempts but tougher choices. Tarkus just received a solid buff this update, Coel is still a top performer in its class, and Segnoraptor is the newest of the bunch. We don't think MonoS or Tsinta should be your choice over any of those three nor do we value any of those three significantly higher than the others. If we were to put them in an order, we'd go Segno, Tarkus, Coel

Monday - Tuesday: 24 attempts

  • Carnotaurus (Friday ) (Purutaurus>Carnotarkus, Scorpius Rex Gen 2>Scorpius Rex Gen 3, Indotaurus)
  • Deinotherium (Park Anytime) (Andrewtherium)
  • Fukuisaurus (Local 3 Anytime) (Fukuimimus)
  • Nasutoceratops (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Carbotoceratops>Testacornibus>Arctovasilas, Megalotops)

Overall

Fukui is new to this group that was featured in 2021, and here is what we had to say then:

This sure is a tough one. We would normally be all over the Event Exclusive Nasuto, but Carno is crazy tempting. You need SO MUCH to build its amazing hybrids, and the opportunity to find these in the wild only comes around once a week. We do have the raid boss to supplement a little, so we'll give a slight edge to Nasuto on its exclusivity. You may even split your attempts in the spirit of the short time frame. We can't find a reason to choose Deino over the others, even if you do have limited access to parks.

This doesn't change a whole lot despite Nasuto being released to the wild since. Then there is the wrench that is Fukui and its very top tier Legendary hybrid. Chances are Fukui isn't holding you back, however, if you don't live in Strutho region. We like the idea of splitting your attempts over at least a couple of Carno, Fukui, and Nasuto. Include Deino if park access is a challenge for you.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Wild Card themed and can reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found at event drops (very very rarely, you could get super lucky and be awarded Legendary).

We will have one dinosaur specific strike this week, an Oviraptor Gen 2 strike on Friday. We've also got the Boost Strikes on Wednesday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Monday (Speed).

Scents

Both scent strikes this week will be Pterosauria scent (Thursday & Monday). This scent can draw the following when activated (with the first draw a guaranteed Rare spawn).:

  • Dimophordon (Common)
  • Hatzegopteryx (Common)
  • Arambourgiana (Rare)
  • Dsungaripterus (Rare)
  • Quetzalcoatlus (Rare)
  • Scaphognathus (Rare)
  • Tupdandactylus (Rare)
  • Alanqa (Epic)
  • Darwinopterus (Epic)
  • Pteranodon (Epic)

Treasure Chase

We are hopefully back to the standard treasure chase on Sunday where distance doesn't matter. You can collect up to 25,000 coins through each period (Sunday will run 11am Eastern to 8pm Eastern, then it will reset until 11am Eastern Monday) - this allows 2 total chances at the coins!

Hybrid Pursuit

This week concludes the Arctalces pursuit with event exclusive Cervalces!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
