The Introduction
This series isn’t supposed to be this regular, but since I just happened to start it right before a big update, there’s a lot to talk about. This time, I want to talk about how Boosts 2.0 affect team composition. In my last installment, I went over the “best”archetype for each creature. (That list has now updated for 1.10) In this article, I want to go over why all the best archetype might not best the right choice for team composition.
The Rules
-
4 different archetypes will be looked at for each creature: Health, Damage, Speed, and Balance.
-
Creature levels will be set to 27. This was chosen to not stray too far from the typical 26 while being divisible by 3. This allows use to look at an even 9/9/9 tier boost for the Balanced archtype. The three stat focused archetypes will use 15 tiers for their respective stat and 6 tiers in the other 2 stats. So, for example, the Health archetype is 15/6/6.
-
All 4 archetypes for each Tyrant/Apex creature will be identified from the resulting data with the difference in percentage points from their respective best archetype.

The Analysis
So why do you care about anything but the best? Well, take a look at the Tyrants’ best archetypes. 5 Damage, 3 Balanced, and 1 Health. Now look at your boost inventory. Does it resemble that ratio? Odds are the answer is no. If you want the best results you need to make the best use of your resources. That means you want to evenly spread out your boost usage without sacrificing too much power. Let me give you an example.
Geminititan’s best archetype is damage focused, but what if you already have a lot of damage focused creatures? Well, Geminititan’s 2nd best archetype, Health, is only worse by 0.63 percentage points! It’s easily worth it to use her health archetype in this scenario just to even out your boost usage. Compare this to Erlikospyx, who’s 2nd best archetype, Balanced, is 3.20 percentage points worse than her best. Still not a huge difference, but the biggest of all the Tyrant #2 archetype.
The Farewell
At 100 boosts per tier, progress is going to get a much needed slowdown and lots more thought is going to need to go into boost choices. Hopefully this data will help you choose wisely. As always, these archetypes are not guides and are only to look at trends in power. They are not exact numbers you should use for your builds. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a new patch to datamine!
