Isla Event Lunar Assault

Introduction

Hello everybody. This is Luke AKA Lucus1355 and welcome to Isla Recap. This article is all about what we learned while taking on the first of the Isla Events, the Frost Assault. We’ll also be going to look at the upcoming Fiery Assault and what we known so far.

So, without further ado, let’s talk about the past before breaking down the future Isla Event Assault.

Isla Events

This is what we understand so far about the Isla Events going off of the Frost Assault and the little information we have about the upcoming Fiery Assault.

The Assaults in the Isla Event have a campaign style setup and span over a number of days, with the aim being to beat the levels, that slowly rise in increasing difficulty in that time span. The opposing creatures seem half to do with the Assault type for example, Frost or Fiery, and half not. The level of these opposing creatures may not be the same when 2 players compare. It seems that the level of the creatures that are faced in an Isla Event are connected to something. Most likely it will be a players trophy count, but other factors such as your highest levelled creature/s may also contribute to the reason or be the reason.

In each Isla Event, the number of creatures that are selected for you to be able to use are not likely to be the same amount every Assault. This is because you are only allowed to use certain creatures, which are: often connected to the Assault type for example, Frost or Fiery, and/or events happening during the span of the Assault, for example, Christmas or the Lunar New Year. These creatures are also likely to feature for darting in the Event Calendars during the time that the Assault is playable.

When completing the Isla Event Assault, creatures, opposing or your own do not gain health back. When you complete a level, your creatures will have the same heath going into the next Level as they did at the end of the last level. This goes the same for the opposing creatures – whatever health the opposing creatures have if you lose against them, they will have that same health the next time you try to complete that same level you lost.

Lastly, once a creature has 0 health, it is no longer able to be used in that run of the Campaign. When all of your eligible creatures have 0 health and you are out of useable creatures, you are no longer able to continue the event except by using in-game cash to reset. You then restart at level 1 again and you are not able to collect any level rewards that you have collected already.

Your Thoughts

Thank you so much for completing the Google Form that was made to help with the research into the Isla Events, specifically the Frost Assault. With approximately 400,000+ people playing the game consistently, we wanted to find out how you found the first Isla Event, the Frost Assault.

Q1.

Most players did attempt the Isla Event: Frost Assault.

Q2.

Out of those people who did attempt the Isla Event: Frost Assault, most felt neutral to slight unenjoyment when doing it.

Q3.

The results to the previous question regarding enjoyment doing the Isla Event: Frost Assault, may have been the result of it being found to be more ‘Super Hard’ than other parts of JWA. The results do seem to be very in favor of this.

Q4.

Again here, it shows that the Isla Event: Frost Assault was found by most, to be ‘Most Challenging’, again affecting the previous 2 questions answers.

Q5.

Most of those that took part in the Isla Event: Frost Assault were actually level 20 players which just shows how difficult it was, even for high to higher level players in the game.

Q6.

When players battled the campaign that was the Isla Event: Frost Assault, it seems that most players:

·         Mostly used Common creatures that were below Level 20.

·         Mostly used Rare creatures between Level 13 and Level 21.

·         Used Epic creatures that were between Level 16 and 20.

·         Used mostly Unique creatures between Level 21 and 26, and also a lot at Level 30

·         Used Apex creatures that were either Level 26 or Level 30.

The results and graphs may also show that, probably due to lack of coins that players creatures were underleveled or that they were unprepared for what the Isla Event: Frost Assault was to throw at them and hard it threw.

Q7.

It seems that most players managed to get to level 6 in the Isla Event: Frost Assault, before they ran out of creatures, mostly at level 8.

Q8.

When running out of creatures in the Isla Event: Frost Assault, nearly 90% of those people did not bother to retry either because they didn’t have the cash or more likely felt that the event rewards for completing each level were not worth the effort.

Q9.

When those players did retry, it seems that most players managed to get to level 7 in the Isla Event: Frost Assault, before they started running out of creatures, mostly at level 8. However, more success seems to have been achieved in the second run.

Prediction of Frost Assault Creatures vs Fiery Assault Creatures

This may be a way in future for preparing creatures to use in upcoming Assaults.

When the Frost Assault was launched and we saw the full roster of creatures we were able to use. There did seem to be some connection to what creatures were being used, creatures that had been featured in past Weekly Event Calendars at this time of year; creatures that were featured in the Weekly Event Calendars during the Assault being active, and creatures that we were able to obtain in the Frost Pass.

When the Fiery Assault creatures were announced and we saw the full roster of creatures we were able to use, it didn’t seem as strong a connection between those creatures, creatures that had been featured in past Weekly Event Calendars at this time such as ‘Lunar New Year’; creatures that were featured in the Lunar New Year Weekly Event Calendar, and creatures that we were able to obtain in the Fiery Pass.

This shows that we in the future, may not be able to have an accurate guess as to which creatures are to be eligible for an Assault pass before a list is announced. This would be more likely if the Weekly Events Calendar, the Pass, the Assault and Weekly Event Calendars in the past had similar or the same name, such as Frost.

Lunar Assault

All we know for certain regarding the Lunar Assault is that it will start on Wednesday the 18th of January and we will have the use of 25 creatures:

  • Ailurarctos
  • Allosinosaurus
  • Arambourgiana
  • Blue
  • Darwinopterus
  • Dilophosaurus
  • Diorajasaurus
  • Dsungaia
  • Dsungascorpios
  • Erlidominus
  • Fukuisaurus
  • Lystrosaurus
  • Lystrosuchus
  • Microraptor
  • Panthera Blythae
  • Pterovexus
  • Pyroraptor GEN2
  • Pyrorixis
  • Segnoraptor
  • Spinoceratops
  • Tarbosaurus
  • Therizinosaurus
  • Tsintamoth
  • Velociraptor
  • Woolly Rhino

That is 10 less creatures than we had for the Isla Event: Frost Assault.

However, we are now wiser to what we are likely to see when the Isla Event: Fiery Assault begins.

Save The Speed

Out of all the creatures, save those that are the fastest or have priority moves that deal damage to opponents. Use these creatures to knock out weakened creatures for a quick win when your opponent only has one creature left: The Finishing Blow. This can also work if it isn’t the opponent’s final creature but can be a riskier strategy.

Study Your Opponents Creatures

It’s possible that you come up against creatures that you haven’t fought before. It is also likely that these creatures will have boosts making you unable to predict your opponents speed, attack, and health. Take a look at their team to make sure that you know their abilities and what boosts they may have on them before you battle.

Swapping In and Swapping Out

You will be facing creatures that have abilities stopping you from switching out and/or switching out safely, so be careful who you pick for your team especially if you want to use creatures that have swap in abilities. This can also work in your favour as your opponent may not take this into account so may try to swap out regardless of the creature you have out, hopefully causing you positive results.

Rarity

Start at the bottom of your creature rarity and work your way up. Don’t waist your unique creatures taking down the small fry, all that damage, however little will catch up with you later on in the higher levels. You may find that you have a common rarity creature at a higher level than an epic rarity creature at which point you should choose which one you think you will need later on.

Class

There is a lot of creatures going on and some creatures have dual-classes. So, instead try your best not to go up against creatures or a team that have advantages or an advantage over your creature. Also, unless it’s to counter the opponent’s team, try to not make your team one sided as this may give you lacking in diverse abilities in battle.

Level Up and Boost

The thing that will most likely help is strengthening the creatures you have to use in the Assault. Level up creatures to make them stronger, more resilient and cause more damage to your opponents. If you want to and have boosts, use them VERY WISELY, perhaps on a creature you want to add to your PvP or tournament team so that they’re not waisted. Who knows, you may even be able to create some creatures that are eligible for this Assault.

Resistances

Use creatures against your opponent that are resisted to abilities they may have, such as damage over time and distraction. If they have group attacks, be extremely careful about using flocks. On the other hand, use moves that your opponent is weak against, such as stun and slowing it down.

Ask For Advice

I’m sure you are part of a discord channel and we know for certain that there are people with knowledge on how to take on these Assaults; they have strategies and knowledge about facing the creatures and which order to use them in, what’s better to use than another, etc. Check out the GamePress discord channel or alternatively, go to YouTube and see what other players have done to take down the Assault levels one by one.

Enjoy

It is something that Ludia has made that is hard and does challenge us, except if you have a lot of boosted level 30s. Use it as a learning curve. If you’re hear for fun then just have fun. It’s a challenge that hasn’t been in JWA for a while, a new experience so explore it and enjoy it as best you can however you can.
