League of Wonderland Coming to iOS and Android in September

  • The fantastical tower-defense game arrives September 30th

Sega has a new game coming to mobile, and it's themed around fairy tales and apparently settling scores in two minutes or less.

You can check out the official trailer from Sega below, but let me just tell you -- it does indeed look like other similar games (Clash Royale, Castle Crush) where you use a hand of cards to dish out troops that walk towards an enemy tower and try to destroy it. Inevitable though it is, to see new games released on mobile that feel a lot like the same game with different skins from a different developer, it certainly benefits anyone who enjoys Clash Royale and is looking for something new to play.

Aside from a hint at spectator mode, it's hard to say what all will be different on this Sega-sponsored game aside from the obvious (skins, unit costs, etc). In fact, there really isn't much we can tell from the 30-second trailer that helps us get a clear picture of gameplay or how things will work.

Form teams with 8 cards to do battle in 2 minutes with opponents by playing different cards (which are on a time delay based on how powerful they are) and see if you can beat your friends. Time will tell how this game ends up ranking among Clash Royale-style titles, but anytime you are copying an existing model, you don't have a very high chance of out-performing it unless you've really done something insane to change how it looks, feels, and plays.

All in all, we'll certainly give League of Wonderland a cursory try and keep you up to date if it turns out to be more interesting than it looks so far. You can pre-order the game on the Google Play store and we expect both will be released at the same time.
