Loot Box Regulations: Rep. Chris Lee Wants You In The Loop

Hawaii State Representative Chris Lee held a press conference in November regarding predatory gaming practices and announced upcoming legislation to help protect consumers who might be susceptible to these practices, such as children. Rep. Lee’s video highlight reel of the press release has received hundreds of thousands of views and the attention of several major gaming news outlets. His subsequent videos detail the next steps taken in the process of crafting this piece of legislation, and what you can do to help.

Rep. Lee has taken the attention as an opportunity to detail “take you behind the scenes and inside the politics of our discussions with the gaming industry, and we’ll take you step by step through how to be most effective in making your voice heard as a community”.

In his third video, titled “Next steps: What you can do to fix the gaming industry”, Rep. Lee and Rep. Sean Quinlan, are crafting the bill with a bill drafter. Lee takes the time to speak to the viewer about the bill’s reception among his colleagues and concerned citizens alike. Information given in his videos can help anybody reach out to their local government official and inform them on the issue at hand. “Change will only happen if we do this together and keep the pressure on”, says Lee.

His latest video released December 19th focuses on Rep. Lee’s outreach and focus on the gaming industry. His candid conversations with other state representatives(and their secretaries) reveal a lot about what kind of games he likes to play, who’s interested in getting involved with the issue, and also what kind of difficulties there are in tackling a 21st-century problem within our system of government.

At GamePress, we are invested in keeping gaming industry practices fair to consumers. We believe Rep. Lee has taken the right initiative to protect and serve the gaming community. We recently sat down with Rep. Lee to talk about his progress and accomplishments. Stay tuned in the near future for a detailed article.
