Soyokaze
Expand
Soyokaze (a Touhou LW original) refers to a light and gentle breeze. This temperament fits Daiyousei well―while she is usually hiding in Cirno's shadow, when she does appear, she does so like a breath of air. Daiyousei is endowed with Wood Phase, due to the connection to plants and wind, and Moon Essence, as she is more diligent than the usual fairy.

The strong and kind Wood Phase resists Water Phase, because water nourishes wood, but it is weak to Metal Phase, because metal carves wood.

The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.

Character Shots

Daiyousei's Spread Shot (a Touhou LW original). This attack shoots out bullets like the hands of a clock. Daiyousei based this barrage of bullets off a plant she saw and was practicing using it when the Flower Master passed by and gave the attack its name.

Daiyousei's Focus Shot (a Touhou LW original). She shoots out balls of fire in this bullet hell attack. Apparently, she created this attack during a practice in the bamboo forest after Mokou suggested that she try using fire. Daiyousei came up with the name of the attack herself, but it was pretty difficult for her.

Rebirth Upgrades
Daiyousei's Spell Card (a Touhou LW original). This was the new Spell Card she came up with after hearing about something that happened in the outside world from Luna Child. When Daiyousei first heard the story, she thought, ''Humans in the outside world are so strange. Why go to the trouble of making fake fairies when it'd be so much easier to ask real ones to come?''

Rebirth Upgrades
Daiyousei's Last Word (a Touhou LW original). One day, Cirno told Daiyousei that the people in the outside world dreamed of a world where magic was used in everyday life. Daiyousei could not understand what would be so good about it, so she tried to ask Marisa and the others, but all she got in response were magic bullets. In the end, she went to Luna Child, who told her about the kind of magic that humans from the outside wanted to be real. This Spell Card is Daiyousei's idea of magic imagined by humans from the outside.

Character Ability

- Ability Unknown -
Expand
Daiyousei's actual ability is still unknown. Her bullets can be similar to Cirno's Icicle Fall and she is able to teleport (or at least do something that looks like teleportation), so a similar ability might reveal itself on another occasion. Daiyousei is the most powerful of the fairies, and fairies are composed of life energy, so it is possible that she has an ability related to nature in some way. However, nothing else is known at this point in time. Daiyousei's title is Nameless Greater Fairy (a Touhou LW original). Her name is unknown, so she is called Daiyousei―Japanese for greater fairy―since she is the most powerful of the fairies.

Character Analysis

Daiyousei was released on May 11th, 2021 as part of the starting roster. For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Discord Official Discord Server.

Daiyousei isn’t a character in the truest sense. Originally a mid-stage boss in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, she has no official name or even attacks. However, due to a lack of characters in Touhou at the time, fans quickly came to dub her “Daiyousei” (literally Big/Greater Fairy), and gave her a personality. Typically in fanon (and in LostWord), she’s portrayed as a kind hearted almost cheerleader sort of character amongst the fairies.

For farming purposes, Daiyousei literally cannot farm, as her Last Word does no damage. The only way to farm with her is to bring her to Hard difficulty stages and manually use her first Spell Card, and even then she’ll likely be unable to do stages which resist Metal. Just...don't even bother.

For harder fights, Daiyousei’s main claim to fame are the six Metal Breaks on her first Spell Card. She’s going to need some Spirit Power support to accomplish it, but she’s the bane of anyone weak to Metal as a result. Additionally, she can also provide some decent Yang ATK support between her third skill and when she boosts thanks to her Character Ability, alongside some decent Yang DEF and Agility support. Finally, she can also provide some healing.

She has two big weaknesses for a big fairy. First, her damage is extraordinarily low, as her Last Word deals no damage, and her only damaging Spell Card is mixed, making it hard to support. Secondly, in spite of being a big fairy, her health pool is rather small - which is a detriment to her healing as healing scales off of the healer’s max health.

Still, if you need either six Metal Breaks and/or Yang ATK support, maybe some healing, she’ll be of assistance. Just make sure not to expect too much - she may be big, but she’s still a fairy.

Story Card Recommendations

(Card recommendations last updated on October 02, 2023)

Spell Card

If you're looking to double down on Daiyousei's Support, look to cards that can boost Spirit Power and Yang ATK, with Accuracy, Barriers, CRIT ATK and Yin ATK being viable options too. If you're trying to get her to land 6 Metal breaks via Spell Card 1, use cards that provide Daiyousei as much Spirit Power as possible. If you want to use her Spell Card for damage/breaks, use Metal/Heavy boosting Cards to do just that. And finally, Spell Card 2 can be paired up with cards that will benefit the team.

Team Accuracy UP: Ability Cards?, A Warm Meal

Team Spirit Power UP: Divine Spirit Tajikarao, Myouren Temple Anniversary, Dancers Take the Stage!, Utopia Tea Time

Spirit Power UP: The Witch of Scarlet Dreams, Let the Oil Money Flow, Mountain of Faith, Youkai Mountain Anniversary, Dancer in the Puddle, Our Dream, Road of Liminality's Ennichi, It's Spring!, Post-Training Kinako Milk, Taking a Breather in Spring

Team CRIT ATK UP: Divine Spirit Tajikarao, Worlds in Hand, Lunatic Red Eyes

Yang ATK UP: Disillusion, Nameless Adventurers

Party Barrier UP: Tropico-Fantasia!, Boundary of Sleep and Vigil, Summer Rocket, Little Laplace's Demon, Moriya Anniversary, Deified Human of the Wind, Great Suwa War,

Heavy Bullet Power UP: The Secret God of the Sky, Incident Shrine, Summer God Fantasy Sea

Metal Bullet Power UP: Disillusion, Two Girl Rock Band, Myouren Temple Anniversary, Our Dream, Shikigami Detectives

Last Word

Having an Aid Last Word strips away Daiyousei's chances of using an attack that can deal high damage. Because of this, we may as well work with other kinds of cards that can double down on team support further or even some enemy debuffs such as:

Team Spirit Power UP: Divine Spirit Tajikarao, Myouren Temple Anniversary, Dancers Take the Stage!, Utopia Tea Time

Team Yang ATK UP: Nameless Adventurers, Disillusion

Team Yin ATK UP: Tenma Mountain Starfall, Mansion of Memories, Shrine Maiden Reborn

Team CRIT ATK UP: Divine Spirit Tajikarao, Worlds in Hand, Lunatic Red Eyes

Team Accuracy UP: Ability Cards?, A Warm Meal

Party Barrier UP: Tropico-Fantasia!, Boundary of Sleep and Vigil, Summer Rocket, Little Laplace's Demon, Moriya Anniversary, Deified Human of the Wind, Great Suwa War

Team CRIT Accuracy UP: Shikigami Detectives, Utopia Tea Time

Targets' Yang DEF DOWN: Beach Sanshoku Geidontei (1T), Running Late (1T), Myouren Temple Anniversary (1 Enemy)

Targets' Yin DEF DOWN: Flight Through Silence, Send Her to the Underworld, Underworld Party Night (1 Enemy), Anniversary at the SDM (1 Enemy)

Targets' CRIT DEF DOWN: Little Laplace's Demon, Moriya Anniversary (1 Enemy), Underworld Party Night (1 Enemy)

Character Skill Level Up Recommendations

Firstly, Healing Wish has an extremely paltry healing value of 15% at level 1. It should be brought up to at least level 7, as it is extremely easy to reach that level. Further levels in the skill should be saved for when you’re out of other targets to raise. Next, Fairyland of Fairy Tales can be raised when you’re out of other targets to raise, as whilst it isn’t a very powerful skill, it’s still more powerful than Fairy Cheer, which is pretty much completely worthless as most crit attackers already boost their crit accuracy by more than enough, and should only be raised once you have literally no other friends who need skills leveled up.
