Character Analysis
Hecatia Lapislazuli was released on February 28th, 2022 in Festival: Purity & Pandemonium.
Hecatia Lapislazuli is a Goddess of Hell, which makes her the boss of Eiki Shiki and Komachi, as well as the overseer of the hell fairies, such as Clownpiece. But despite being a denizen of Hell, Hecatia is not particularly evil or mean spirited; she cares much about freedom, has a close and friendly relationship with Junko, and often dotes on Clownpiece. In the past, Hecatia teamed up with Junko to take down the authority of the Lunar Capital due to their shared grudge against Chang'e, a Lunarian Goddess whose late husband killed Junko's son and shot down a star which Hecatia had control over, effectively weakening her. Hecatia's ability, the power of having three bodies, allows her to exist simultaneously on the Earth with her blue haired body, the Moon with her yellow haired body, and the Otherworlds (which includes places such as Gensokyo and Doremy's Dream World) with her red haired body, although her soul resides in Hell.
For farming, the Goddess of Hell does not play around. Her skills serve to augment her power even more whilst also providing her a total of 1.4 P. Combining the skills with her Single-target Last Word, Pandemonic Planet, these factors delete nearly any foe she fights. The Moon is Falling! also serves as a spell card with power rivaling a Last Word when hitting the Gensokyo killer. It hits all enemies, keeping her relevant even in situations that require her to take on more than 1 enemy. Not to mention, her boosts provide her the accuracy that she needs as her accuracy increases per boost. However, full auto is detrimental to her strengths due to it consuming barriers which she wants to keep, as she gains damage from having poison anomalies on her barriers. It goes without saying that Hecatia is an excellent option when it comes to farming story cards. Due to having an insane damage cap as well as inflicting self anomalies to counter the nature of some fights, Hecatia is able to farm a good range of story card stages.
Solo Stage Farms: 3-6-3(!), 3-11-1, Code E9(!), 3-18-3, Future Story Card Stage (but in a duo)
NOTE: (!) means that the farm comp is currently inconsistent due to several factors (e.g. accuracy problem, future story card required, damage problem, etc.)
For challenging content, Hecatia is no slouch as one of the top damage dealers in the game. All of her spell cards can do a great deal of damage. With Otherworld: Oumagatoki, Hecatia is able to set up even more as it provides her 1.25 P and also serves as a great way to deal damage against humans and against people from the Lunar Capital. The Moon is Falling! is especially notable as the spell card has a large amount of killers against characters from Gensokyo. Combined with her already powerful self buffs, Hecatia can do insane amounts of damage. Finally, Pandemonic Planet, despite hitting only one target, comes in to delete nearly any foe as it has a wide array of killers with Gensokyo, Lunar Capital, and Outside World killers. The only thing that can truly be said that is lacking from Hecatia is her utility. While she does exude a lot of power, her utility is sadly nearly non-existent as she only provides 2 Yin ATK with The Moon is Falling! and 3 CRIT accuracy with her 3rd skill. However, she cancels this out by inflicting on the team Freeze.
The skills that Hecatia all serve to do one purpose: deal damage. With Moon Hell, she self inflicts 3 layers of Poison and gives herself 3 CRIT ATK, Otherworlds Hell provides 2 Yin ATK to herself and 3 layers of Freeze to the party, and Earth Hell provides a party wide 3 CRIT Accuracy, self inflicts 4 layers of Freeze, and restores 2 barriers for herself. While inflicting herself with anomalies may seem like a downside, Hecatia is one of the cases where some anomalies are actually beneficial to her instead of being a negative. Her ability, Capable of having three bodies, comes in clutch as it comes with the benefit where she is immune to the freeze anomaly and instead converts it to P which totals it to 1.4 P by herself. Meanwhile, the poison anomalies she self inflicts convert into 3 levels of Yang ATK, Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, and CRIT Accuracy to herself.
When it comes to breaking barriers, Hecatia is truly a powerful force to be reckoned with. With elemental access to primarily Star, Moon, Sun, and Fire on her attacks, Hecatia can dish out a ton of breaks. Coming in with P0 star on Anima Mundi, she keeps this up with a total of 2 Star, 2 Sun, and 2 Moon on Otherworld: Oumagatoki. For The Moon is Falling!, she provides a solid number of 3 Moon and 3 Star breaks. Finally, Pandemonic Planet comes in with a total of 4 Fire and 2 star breaks.
Hecatia's only drawback is truly her lack of notable utility. The lack of notable utility keeps her back from being at the very top. However, don’t be fooled. The Goddess of Hell will serve you well, especially if you point her to an enemy for her to crush!
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on July 05, 2023)
Spell Card
Spirit Power up, as always, is one of the most valuable things to use as it serves to give Hecatia access to her elemental breaks. Aside from that, The Moon is Falling! & Otherworld: Oumagatoki both benefit from boosts to energy attacks and Yin ATK buffs, which is why Unknown Barrier Team is perfect for dealing more damage as it provides exactly that. Additionally, note that it is farmable so it is easier to attain. Aside from that, look for Yin ATK stat sticks to help augment her power.
Last Word
Unknown Barrier Team is Hecatia's best Story Card for setup damage because it gives her exactly what she seeks. Although, Anniversary at the SDM is a notable choice as this would be the best way to do damage on turn one. Still, Bloody Order remains a less than ideal option. Finally, Bonds of Blood would deal a better baseline of damage than Bloody Order.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Moon Hell is Hecatia's first priority to level up to max instantly as it provides her the most amount of self buffs for damage. Otherworlds Hell becomes the next priority to level as it also gives her a decent bump in damage with some more Yin ATK. Finally, Earth Hell can be leveled up for additional Spirit Power from self-Freeze anomalies along with some extra Barrier restoration.
Character Strengths
Devastating Damage Dealer
Whether it be her Last Word capable of wiping out an enemy, or her Spell Card 2 demonstrating how powerful Spell Cards can be, Hecatia lives up to her reputation quite well. On top of that, she also has that sought after Gensokyo Killer that covers over half of the game’s cast! Her Spell Card 2 has been regarded as another Last Word simply as a result of its deceptively immense power, so just imagine what her Last Word can do to a specific enemy.
Provides Herself the Buffs she Needs to Thrive
Spirit Power, Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, CRIT Accuracy, even Accuracy, Hecatia manages it all! She can buff Yin ATK via Skill 2 and Spell Card 2, CRIT ATK, from Skill 1, CRIT Accuracy from Skill 3 and Last Word, and even her Ability to take Poison anomalies to increase the 3 aforementioned buffs is taken advantage of quite well, also self inflicting Poison via Skill 1. Hecatia’s Ability fun doesn’t end there, because Freeze layers are converted to Spirit Power, which 2 of her Skills grant her a total of +1.40 Spirit Power just from Freeze anomalies (on top of her Spell Card 1’s conventional Spirit Power boost), and she can even boost her Accuracy simply from Boosting as well as from her Last Word. Hecatia can even restore her Barrier count from Skill 3 if she still wants to take advantage of those Poison anomaly buffs. Safe to say, Hecatia has it all figured out, as she can welcome her foes to hell with her power.
Character Weaknesses
Team Buffs are Somewhat Limited
Aside from the CRIT Accuracy on Skill 3 and the Yin ATK on Spell Card 2, Hecatia isn’t able to do too much for the team sadly, but it might be possible to use her Spell Card 2 effectively alongside Yin Friends.
Can’t Inflict or Break Anomalies on Enemies
While her Spell Card 2 has a 35% chance to inflict Burn, Poison and Freeze on bullet lines, that is quite literally all the anomaly action Hecatia will see on her enemies, meaning it’s simply a destructive damage game with Hecatia, simple as that.
