Character Analysis
Komachi Onozuka (Underground Waste Ward Ticket Puncher) was released on May 26th 2023 in "Ultra Festival Prayer: Tickets Please!". For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
The Spirit River Railroad is a different realm to the Sanzu River, but some of the fundamentals are the same, such as most notably, the shinigami known as Komachi Onozuka who works to keep everything up and running. Unfortunately, some of those similarities include her laziness, although this could be to a lesser extent for this version of herself due to the environment and circumstances. Then again, it does seem like being a ticket inspector and a train driver at the same time could be taxing, and we all need our rest in order to do our jobs well. That said, there are a few differences, such as Komachi trading her trademark scythe for a huge hammer, and her new uniform as a worker in the Underground Waste Ward. Let’s hope she doesn’t fall asleep on the job, or our Station Master might have a few words…
B3 Komachi Onozuka is a Speed-Class Friend who is your ticket to Fire and Metal breaks, great Blind anomaly utility and a low cooldown duration on Skills.
As an Attacker / Supporter
- Is able to gain 2.00 Spirit Power on Turn 1 via Skills: Skill 1 gives the team 0.25 and Skill 3 gives herself 1.75.
- Yang ATK buffs for the team via Spell Card 1, Last Word and by Boosting.
- Agility buffs for the team via Skill 1, Last Word and Grazing.
- Yang DEF debuffs via Spell Card 2 and Last Word bullet lines.
- Provides the team 1-2 Barriers when using Skill 2 and Spell Card 1.
- Evasion buffs via Skills 1 and 2 as well as Spell Card 2 and Last Word.
- Takes advantage of Slice Scaling, especially in her Last Word as 5 lines get a 185% conversion in it.
- Has a large quantity of Killers including Soul, Undead, Lunar Capital, Lunarian and Moon Rabbit.
As a Utility
- Skills have a low cooldown rate, especially Skill 1, granting the team Spirit Power, Evasion and Agility every turn.
- Is immune to Poison anomalies. Can also break them on enemies via Last Word.
- Increases Agility, Accuracy and Evasion when inflicted with Blind anomalies, such as Skill 3. Also inflicts anomalies onto enemies via Skills 2 and 3, Spell Card 1 and Last Word, with them being broken by using Spell Card 1 and Last Word.
- Passive 1 and Spell Card 2 reduces damage from soul-like presences by 40% and 50% respectively.
- Every element is either Fire or Metal, having breaking potential in both elements.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on December 24, 2023)
Spell Card
Despite being able to churn out Spirit Power for the team every turn, B3 Komachi can never go wrong with more, such as with cards like The Witch of Scarlet Dreams and others with similar effects. You can also use cards like Myouren Temple Anniversary and Our Dream to take advantage of her Metal bullets if you want, and the former can also debuff an enemy’s Yang DEF while giving the team even more Spirit Power.
To really take advantage of her Speed role, Ability Cards? is a pretty handy pick for granting the team both long-lasting Accuracy and Agility. That said, other Yang ATK boosting options like Ordinary Magician, Kasen’s Senkai or How Irrational…, work too, as well as the team-supporting Nameless Adventurers.
Finally, if you want to capitalize on her Energy Spell Cards, you can turn to cards such as Unknown Barrier Team, Choose an Animal Spirit, or even Worlds in Hand, which can also boost her Fire bullets and even grants the team some CRIT ATK!
Last Word
B3 Komachi’s Last Word picks are straightforward, as Heavy bullets are the way to go here. With cards like The Secret God of the Sky and Summer God, Fantasy Sea, they are definitely above the other options, although Disillusion would theoretically be good for her Metal bullet lines, giving them a 50% boost. We also have Myouren Temple Anniversary boosting Metal bullets by 25% while debuffing an enemy’s Yang DEF and increasing the team’s Spirit Power a bit. Either way, these don’t hold a candle to the 50% Heavy options above.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
We can start off with the Third Skill being Genetic Algorithm. It provides more Spirit Power for Komachi as well as brings out more Blind anomalies both to herself and to enemies. It also has its cooldown go from 6 turns to 4 turns. Next up is Approx. Algorithm, our first Skill. Having the potential to be used every turn, not only will B3 Komachi reach 3P after maxing out both this and the preceding Skill, but this will give chunks of Agility, Evasion and Spirit Power to the team every turn! Finally is Skill number 2, Random Algorithm. Not much benefit can be gained here outside of a similar cooldown reduction to the Third Skill sadly.
Character Strengths
Can’t Catch a Break?
B3 Komachi does a great job when it comes to her breaking potential, whether it be her healthy mix of Fire and Metal breaks or her abundant Blind inflictions onto her enemies, with potential to break 6 Blind anomalies in 1 turn. Part of that is to do with her capability of reaching 3P by herself via her Skills alone, but it’s very helpful to wipe out these anomalies as fast as they appear!
Ticket to Quick Support
Having a 1 Turn Cooldown on her Skill 1 providing the team 0.25 Spirit Power as well as Evasion and Agility every turn is very welcome. The other Skills have a manageable 4 Turn Cooldown rate too. As for support, she can bring along Agility in a lot of ways, Yang ATK by Boosting and by using her Spell Card 1, and also debuff the Yang DEF of her enemies with her Spell Card 2.
Character Weaknesses
Awkward Yin Bullet Lines, Niche Killers
Enjoying a Yang ATK at 1900 is certainly respectable, and with a Yin ATK at 1350, seeing that in her Last Word might be very frustrating for one to have to come to terms with when they could be Yang. This is also a common theme in her other attacks. Despite the tremendously high Slice Scaling in her Last Word (5 Lines have 185% Scaling), this is still going to be a pain for somebody like B3 Komachi. In addition, her Killers don’t hit a wide range of enemies despite having a large quantity of them, like Soul, Undead, Lunarian, Lunar Capital and Moon Rabbit.
