Character Analysis
Marisa Kirisame (Cherry Blossom: Love) was released on May 29th 2023 in Prayer “Perfect Magicians Festival”
When there is a Hakurei Shrine Maiden, there is an Ordinary Magician. And when there is an incident, these two humans are always there to resolve it. In the case of the Spring Snow Incident, Marisa Kirisame is unfazed by the chilling atmosphere and is one of three humans looking to put an end to Yuyuko’s plans. This Ordinary Magician loves her firepower, and with her signature Master Spark in her arsenal, the laser-focused magician is still just as eager, fired up and ready to steamroll through all who stand in her way of resolving this winter-inducing incident!
A7B Marisa Kirisame is a Destroy-Class Friend who loves her firepower in terms of CRIT buffs for herself, CRIT debuffs on enemies, Burn anomalies and lots of Fire breaks.
As an Attacker / Debuffer
- If her Fire/Star/Wood elemental bullet(s) are resisted, their power increases by 30%.
- Able to increase her Spirit Power via multiple means. Skill 3 adds 2.00 Spirit Power and Spell Card 1 gives her 1.50 Spirit Power after its attack.
- Yang ATK buffs via Skill 3.
- CRIT ATK buffs via Skill 1 and Last Word bullet line
- Team-wide CRIT Accuracy buffs via Boosting, Skill 1, Spell Card 2 and Last Word.
- Killer range including Youkai, Soul, Fairy and Spring hits a good chunk of enemies.
- Slice Scaling is used to increase damage on some bullet lines. Agility buffs via Grazing and Spell Card 2 Post ATK are also used to boost this further.
- CRIT Evasion debuffs via Skill 2, Spell Card 1 and Last Word.
- CRIT DEF debuffs via Skill 2 and Last Word.
- Evasion debuffs on Bullet lines, mainly Spell Card 2 and Last Word.
As a Utility
- Has Specular bullets in some Bullet Lines, mainly Spell Card 1 and Last Word, meaning those bullets being Yang results in its damage based on the enemy’s Yin DEF instead.
- Has Burn anomalies to inflict on her enemies via Skill 2, Solo Spell Card 1, and several other bullet lines. These are broken via Spell Card 1 and Last Word.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on May 28, 2023)
Spell Card
Should Skill 3 and Spell Card 1’s Spirit Power gain for A7B Marisa not be enough, cards like The WItch of Scarlet Dreams and many other Spirit Power boosting cards will get the job done. If you want to spread the Spirit Power though, look to cards like Myouren Temple Anniversary and Dancers Take The Stage! for 0.75 Spirit Power for the team.
To give A7B Marisa more accuracy in order for her bullets to connect, cards like Ability Cards?, Valued Tools of the Trade, Shichi-Go-San School Visit?! and similar cards will help with that.
That said, Yang ATK is unfortunately lacking for our laser focused magician, so cards like How Irrational, Members of the Yakumo Family, Kasen’s Senkai and most effective of all, Ordinary Magician will be great here. Ordinary Magician not only has a Yang ATK boost, but slightly boosts CRIT ATK and Laser Bullets.
If you want to focus more on Laser Boosting Cards for either Laser Spell Card, look to Infinity Garden, Little Sister and Sweets, Occult Circle and Anniversary at the SDM. Spell Card 1 also has 5 lines of Fire meaning that cards like Bonds of Blood, Silver Gale, Bloody Order and Worlds in Hand are pretty good picks for Fire boosters, with 2 of those picks providing some form of CRIT ATK utility. If you want to have even more fun with your options though, there is also Mega Flare which boosts Agility on top of Fire as well as NAЯAKA which can also be used to slightly reduce the Yang DEF of all enemies if you want to then pivot to her Spell Card 2 for damage afterwards.
Last Word
Infinity Garden
Little Sister and Sweets
Occult Circle
Anniversary at the SDM
Ordinary Magician
Bonds of Blood
With a Laser Last Word, A7B Marisa greatly benefits from cards like Infinity Garden and Little Sister and Sweets, boosting Laser by 50% and 45% respectively (on top of boosting one of her Wood Bullets). Other options are Anniversary at the SDM, boosting Laser by 25% while reducing an enemy’s Yin DEF by 3 stages, actually working well with 4/6 of A7B Marisa’s Specular Bullets. Ordinary Magician can serve as an instant burst in Yang ATK while boosting CRIT ATK slightly as well as Laser, also by 25%. Occult Circle and Winter Holiday have a 35% boost in Laser while also being rather accessible one way or another. Finally, if you want to take advantage of her 4 Fire lines, you can use cards like Bonds of Blood, Bloody Order, Worlds in Hand or Silver Gale.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Supernatural Border is the most important Skill to level up to Level 10. Reducing the Cooldown from 9 Turns to 8 Turns, making sure A7B Marisa can reach 3P right off the jump as well as get more out of her limited Yang ATK are all important factors that lead to this one being first to level up. Next up is up to you depending on which one floats your boat more, but we’ll put the second Skill, Hakkero Heater as its Burn anomaly inflictions make the difference here, supported by more mileage from CRIT DEF and CRIT Evasion debuffs. Lastly is Warm Clothes, further enhancing A7B Marisa’s CRIT ATK and the team’s CRIT Accuracy.
Character Strengths
Critical Spirit
Being able to reach 3P with just her Skill 3 is a great way to jumpstart A7B Marisa in battle, and more natural Spirit Power coming from Spell Card 1 helps a good bit too. On top of that, having the Killer range she does, most notably having Youkai means she will be able to land Critical Hits on a good portion of enemies, and as a Destroy-Class Friend, she has effects that boost her CRIT ATK and CRIT Accuracy while debuffing the enemies’ CRIT DEF and CRIT Evasion, making these Critical Hits the more impactful.
Flaming Firepower
A7B Marisa has firepower, not just in dealing damage, but with her Fire breaks and her Burn anomalies she can inflict and break! While her main element is Fire, she also has Star and Wood breaks to a much lesser extent, although we won’t see a whole lot of use in them compared to Fire. An enemy can receive 4 layers of Burn via Spell Card 1 and have them broken in the same turn assuming A7B Marisa is at 3P with this attack, and Burn anomalies on all enemies can also be broken via her Last Word.
Character Weaknesses
Needs More Yang ATK and Accuracy Buffs
While A7B Marisa does have Yang ATK to work with via Skill 3, that’s pretty much it for natural Yang ATK buffs she can grant herself. While this is something that other allies and Story Cards can help mitigate, it may be a hindrance to have to bring her Yang ATK buffs up more to get the most out of her damage. On top of that though, she also struggles with Accuracy too, as it’s nowhere to be found for her. Even with the slight Evasion debuffs on bullet lines, she will still need more Accuracy one way or another.
Not Much Support
A7B Marisa can support the team by giving them team-wide CRIT Accuracy via multiple means. Unfortunately, that’s where the support ends if you are not taking into account her CRIT DEF, CRIT Evasion and Evasion debuffs as well as Burn anomalies that she can bring to the table.
