Character Analysis
Marisa Kirisame (Cherry Blossom: Magic) was released on May 29th 2023 in Prayer “Perfect Magicians Festival”
When there is a Hakurei Shrine Maiden, there is an Ordinary Magician. And when there is an incident, these two humans are always there to resolve it. In the case of the Spring Snow Incident, Marisa Kirisame is one of three humans determined to thwart Yuyuko’s plans to cover everyone and everything in snow by gathering spring, and to combat the abundant wintery atmosphere, she is wearing multiple layers so she doesn’t freeze up. So with her magic at the ready, multiple layers to combat the cold and many continues, can this Ordinary Magician defeat Yuyuko once and for all?
A7A Marisa Kirisame is an Attack-Class Friend who has Star, Water and Fire breaks and can buff her offensive stats such as Yang ATK and CRIT ATK very well.
As an Attacker
- If her Star/Water/Fire elemental bullet(s) are effective, their power increases by 30%.
- Spirit Power gain achieved via Skill 3 and Spell Card 2 (1.25 and 1.00 respectively).
- Selfish Yang ATK buffs via her Skill 3, Focus Shot bullet line, Spell Card 2 and Last Word bullet lines, with her Pre-ATK effect being party-wide.
- CRIT ATK Buffs via Grazing, Last Word Pre-ATK, and some bullet lines on Focus Shot and Last Word. Graze effect is party-wide with the rest being selfish.
- CRIT DEF debuffs achieved via Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Accuracy buffs via Skill 1 and by Boosting.
- Yin ATK boosts from Skill 3 and Spell Card 1.
- Great Killer range including Youkai, Soul, Fairy and Winter.
- Uses Slice Scaling to increase damage output and has Agility buffs on Spread Shot bullet line and Spell Card 2.
As a Utility
- Inflicts Freeze anomalies via Skill 2 and Spell Card 1. Breaks them via Spell Card 2 (3P) and Last Word (2P)
- Heals 2 of her own Barrier Statuses via Skill 1.
- Has slight Barrier support via Skill 2.
- Takes 35% less damage from Missile and Light bullets via Passives 1 and 2 respectively.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on May 28, 2023)
Spell Card
A7A Marisa’s Spirit Power gain in her kit is self-sustainable, but not exceptional. This will mean cards like Mountain of Faith, The Witch of Scarlet Dreams and any other options to fill this role will do the trick. Since there is no Spirit Power support to work with, you could also make a case for Myouren Temple Anniversary or Dancers Take the Stage! if you want to have a little bit of fun with their team-wide Spirit Power effects.
Since her Yang ATK and CRIT ATK can be buffed quite a bit when considering her Last Word, it might be possible to get away with needing cards to buff those stats, but outside of her Last Word, it probably won’t be that simple. So using cards like Ordinary Magician, Kasen’s Senkai, How Irrational and Members of the Yakumo Family will have you covered for Yang ATK, with the CRIT ATK side of things seeing cards like Miracle Mallet and Bloody Order. If you want to share the buffs of either, there are cards like Worlds in Hand and Nameless Adventurers.
And of course, let’s go over Spell Cards for pure damage. Both cards have Light bullets which mean that you’ll want to look at cards like Puppeteer and Necromancer, and while it's not as simple to get, Silver Gale would also be a great pick too. Her Spell Card 2 does have 5 Star bullets though, so you could find great use in cards such as Dancers Take the Stage!, Secret Sealing Club Girls, I’m Alright! and even the Touhou LostWord Story Card, which also has an Agility boost to help with her Slice Scaling.
Last Word
Beach Sanshoku Geidontei
Stand-In Shrine Maiden
Choose an Animal Spirit
Secret Sealing Club Girls
I'm Alright!
Kasen's Senkai
With a Last Word consisting of Body Bullets, the 50% Body Boosting Story Cards are your best bets here, being Beach Sanshoku Geidontei, Stand-In Shrine Maiden and Choose an Animal Spirit! The first of those cards also has the additional effect of debuffing the Yang DEF of all enemies by 2 stages, in most cases pushing this card further ahead of the other 2! That said, if these options are not available to you, or if you want to take advantage of the 4 Star bullets here, cards like I’m Alright! and Secret Sealing Club Girls will get the job done. Lastly, if for whatever reasons you are having issues with A7A Marisa’s Yang ATK buffs, Kasen’s Senkai could actually serve as a pretty solid choice in remedying that, while also coming in with a lesser yet still helpful Body Bullet Boost at 25%.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Skill 3, Supernatural Border takes priority here. Going from a 6 Turn to 4 Turn Cooldown Skill as well as increased Spirit Power and Yang ATK buffs makes this a Skill you want to get out of the way above all else. Next up is numero uno, Rugged up Magician, where you’re mainly looking for more Accuracy with it. Finally is the one in the middle, Hakkero Cooling. The only change here is going to be whether you inflict 1 (Level 1) or 2 (Level 10) Freeze anomalies onto all your enemies, which is a lesser difference compared to the other 2 Skills.
Character Strengths
Flashy Firepower
A7A Marisa is what you’d expect in an attacker, has Yang ATK, CRIT ATK, Accuracy, Spirit Power and a great Killer range (includes Youkai, Soul, Fairy and Winter) to blast away her enemies! While her support has some selfish traits, she proves she can be very self-sufficient when it comes to doing what she set out to do, and if her elements are effective, they even get a 30% boost!
Breaks and Tricks
Speaking of elements, she has a great amount of Star breaks, with Fire and Water bullets laced in. Due to the winter season, that’s not it as her f-f-firepower comes with some Freeze anomaly inflictions and breaks! Her inflictions come in the form of her Skill 2 and her Spell Card 1 and her Freeze breaks are performed via Spell Card 2 and Last Word. She has a few other magic tricks up her sleeve which include healing her own Barrier anomalies, providing the team an extra Barrier from Skill 2, and takes 35% less damage from both Missile and Light bullets thanks to 2 of her Passives!
Character Weaknesses
Selfish Ordinary Magician
To briefly go over all the ways A7A Marisa can support the team, she has her team Barrier via Skill 2, CRIT ATK from Grazing, Agility thanks to Spell Card 2, and Yang ATK courtesy of her Last Word. Other than CRIT DEF debuff on her Last Word as well as the aforementioned Freeze anomalies, that’s pretty much it, and while the limited support that this magician provides could help out other teammates, you’re most likely bringing her for her self-sustainable firepower.
