Reisen Udongein Inaba (Lunar War Soldier)

B3 Reisen Udongein Inaba was released on February 25th, 2022 in Ultra Festival: Lunar War Soldier.

Out of all of the other combatants on Gensokyo’s side of the Lunar War, Soldier is the most battle-ready. She is familiar with preparing for the art of war while training in the Lunar Capital as one of countless moon rabbits. Her knowledge on firearms and their mechanisms is greater than the other Lunar War Friends thanks to the brutal training on the Moon. While making her a strong contender, it also leaves her with the most emotional baggage when taking part in this mysterious war, topped with the sealing of her regular moon rabbit powers. Fortunately, with replacing her finger guns for some real ones along with some prosthetic eyes, Reisen can imitate her original form’s abilities and improve them as an SS-tier Friend.

Soldier’s skills and strong All-target Last Word, Moon Salvo (Lunatic Full Burst Mode), make for a very well-rounded farmer. Her Last Word's Pre-ATK effects consist of lowering all opponents’ Evasion by 2 levels, enabling a slight amount of Accuracy support, along with heavy Yang ATK buffs to hit harder and Yang DEF buffs to literally hit harder due to her Hard scaling. Augmenting this with Medical Poison, which despite the dangerous-sounding name, grants her 1.0 Spirit Power, the perfect amount of Spirit Power for her to reach most of her bullet lines on turn 1 (with a spread of 1-3-1). The level of the buffs directly depend on her Awakening level, with 1 at first and 5 as the cap. While a decently tough nuke, her farming skills aren’t insane enough for many significant Story Card farms outside of 3-3-3 and a future Main Story stage.

The rest of the rabbit soldier’s kit reveals her crucial role: an all-around Friend specializing in debuffs as well as support. Both of her spells are of the debuff variety, decreasing all foes’ Evasion with Illusion Wave: Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Blowing) and Accuracy with Indolence: Life and Spirit Stopping (Mind Stopper) by 2 levels each. The specified target of each spell will gain an additional debuff level, granting them 3 levels of Evasion or Accuracy DOWN from a single cast. The Accuracy decrease is rather niche, but Evasion can clearly support the rest of the team, especially against foes who focus on evading more. Furthermore, Indolence: Life and Spirit Stopping (Mind Stopper) is able to break any Paralyze anomalies on their targets, opening up synergy between Soldier and any Paralyze spreaders. Moon Salvo (Lunatic Full Burst Mode) can do this too, but this is more of a bonus since Last Words should mainly be ultimate nuke attacks.

As for her skills, Reisen turns more toward the supportive side. Although Medical Poison is another 2-level Accuracy debuff, it recovers the party’s HP by 25% of her own HP as well. Phase Shift veers toward defense, increasing everyone’s Yin DEF by 3 levels, a minimal but still helpful boost to the Yin Hard bullets on her own spells. More importantly is the 1 Barrier restored to the party, a trait shared by activating Moon Salvo (Lunatic Full Burst Mode). On the more offensive end is Sniping, with an always handy 2 levels of Yang ATK up to herself along with granting Charge to herself, opening the chance for other Last Words to activate their debuffs before she acts. With even more Yin DEF and Yang ATK boosts accessible from boosting and grazing respectively thanks to her character ability and consistent 20% HP restoration from Auto Medic, Soldier will remain in the fight for extended periods of time to back up the rest of the team.

Soldier boasts a great assortment of elemental breaks, just like her other Lunar War allies, this time implementing a variety of Earth and Moon. Both of her basic shots are proof of this, with Lunatic Machine Gun containing 0P Earth and Lunatic Rifle having 0P Moon. Along with that, 3 Moon breaks are on Illusion Wave: Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Blowing), 4 Earth breaks are on Indolence: Life and Spirit Stopping (Mind Stopper), and 4 Moon breaks with 2 Earth breaks can be found on Moon Salvo (Lunatic Full Burst Mode). Furthermore, the Paralyze anomaly breaks can prove useful based on your team formation. Most of these breaks can be accessed at 2P, but Reisen definitely has the ability to build up the Spirit Power for all of these breaks thanks to all of her skills. 

She might not excel in one field of offense, defense, or support, but she really doesn’t need to. Soldier contains a useful assortment of all three of these fields and is a guaranteed pick for anyone who needs a well-balanced combination of skills to keep the battle in their favor. Rather fitting for the Lunar War combatant with the most experience on a battlefield.
