Character Analysis
B5 Reisen Udongein Inaba was released on May 19th, 2022 in Ultra Festival: Lunatic Space Youkai.
The unknown reaches of space are truly terrifying, if you think about it. Not only is it a harsh environment to survive in, but the creatures that can be lurking throughout the sea of space is unknown. Anyone can be out there, which only raises space’s sense of danger. And what better species to combine the fear of space with than a youkai, a creature that feeds off fear? As a Lunatic Space Youkai, Reisen Udongein Inaba makes herself unique from her other multiverse versions, and not just because of her hair colour, or helmet.
For farming and raw damage, Reisen delivers what is expected of Ultra Festival Friends, casually being able to solo farm many story card stages. Her Yin-only Last Word, Light Wind Lunatic Moon (Lunatic Rays), is a very powerful attack, easily seen by the heavy 4 levels of Yin ATK UP (1T) and 3 levels of Yin DEF UP (3T), the latter adding strength due to overwhelming Hard scaling. In fact, her Hard scaling is even better when considering that Reisen can easily reach the cap of 10 levels of Yin DEF UP all by herself, thanks to her spells, skill, and ability of manipulating madness (Erased), which adds a level of Yin DEF UP for each boost. Combined with her own Accuracy support from her second skill, Mind Dope, and you have a Friend who can easily demolish the competition by herself.
Solo Story Card Farms: 3-3-3, 3-6-3, 3-11-1, Future Story Card Stage
Don’t count out Reisen’s capabilities while working with a team, though. The space youkai is a defensive tank through and through, as mentioned before from her ease of capping Yin DEF buffs. Her second spell, Earth’s Surface Ricochet (Lunatic Echo), is another 3 levels of Yin DEF UP for the entire party (3T) with the added bonus of applying 2 layers of Blind to all foes. Her first skill, Electric Armor, is 3 more teamwide levels of Yin DEF UP (3T) with a self-recover of 70% HP and 4 levels of Focus UP, which works very well with her tanky nature. She even covers the other type of defense, giving 3 levels of Yang DEF to the party (3T) on her third skill, Defensive Invasion. Along with 1 barrier restored to the whole party, it is clear that Reisen has a very large variety of utility, even when her first spell, Lunar Surface Ricochet (Lunatic Double), doesn’t have the greatest pre-ATK effects (in Solo-target Yang ATK DOWN by 3 levels (3T)) unless you are trying to be very defensive.
Where the spell lacks pre-ATK effects, however, it makes up for greatly in elemental breaks. Her entire spell arsenal is filled to the brim with Moon and Star breaks, with a 0P Star Focus shot being only the beginning. The ironic thing is that all of her spells, even her Last Word, have the same spread of 3 Moon and 3 Star, making all of them easily usable to break enemies weak to those elements. Additionally, Lunar Surface Ricochet (Lunatic Double) and Light Wind Lunatic Moon (Lunatic Rays) have the capability of breaking the Blind anomalies she inflicted with Earth’s Surface Ricochet (Lunatic Echo), located on lines 2 and 6 of the former and line 6 of the latter. Furthermore, thanks to Mind Dope’s 1.50 Spirit Power recovery, Reisen has an easy way to start off turn 1 strong and regenerate Spirit Power later in a fight, made doubly easier thanks to her bulk.
If all of this wasn’t enough for you, then Reisen even has a rather unique Characteristic: Replaceable Reactive Armor. With this, she takes 75% less damage when at max HP, which…thanks to Electric Armor’s healing, is very easy to abuse and prevent even less damage from going through. Her character ability also lets her recover 5% of her HP when inflicted with Burn or Poison anomalies, which allows her to synergize with even more Friends. Additionally, every attack Reisen pulls off have some small % of HP restored thanks to Absorb bullets, which can be another potential way to return to 100% HP and activate the Characteristic again.
With all of this utility as a tank while still being able to hit very well and even break enemy barriers, Reisen is a Friend that wants to see many fights and will be sure to safely get out of just as many.

Spell Card
More Spirit Power means more spell cards that hit stronger and with more elements. Witch of Scarlet Dreams is the normal, farmable pick, but there is a great case for choosing Youkai Mountain Anniversary instead, thanks to its extremely high Yin DEF stat stick that pairs well with Reisen’s Hard scaling. Other than the Spirit Power cards, you can also consider sticking some Yin ATK UP on herself such as Boo!, as she lacks those kinds of buffs on herself in favor of Yin DEF, which she can already optimize at 10 levels by herself.
Last Word
For Reisen’s Last Word, you actually have a good variety of 5* Story Card options. Thanks to being fully Laser and half-Star, half-Moon, there are actually several different useful cards based on the situation. Occult Circle might be the easiest to use, since it’s a flat 35% damage increase thanks to every line being Laser Bullets, but there is utility in Star-based cards such as Secret Sealing Club Girls (50% Star UP with 2 levels of Evasion DOWN on all enemies) and Moon-based cards such as Unmoving Great Library (30% Moon UP along with 25% Laser Bullet UP). To summarize, you can be a bit creative here, with most focus on Laser Bullet power UP but also consider the Star and Moon elements on the Last Word.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Reisen’s second skill, Mind Dope, is definitely the skill to level up first, since it increases her 0.50 Spirit Power regeneration to 1.50 Spirit Power, allowing her to gain a lot more Spirit Power over a longer fight. As a bonus, it will also increase the Yin ATK and Accuracy buffs by 1 level to give her even more damaging potential. Afterwards, you should prioritize her first skill, Electric Armor. The heal will become even higher (which can allow you to abuse her 2nd Characteristic even more) and the Focus UP and Yin DEF UP become even stronger, the former being something that this tank can actually handle. Her third skill, Defensive Invasion, is definitely one saved for last, as its main benefits are already gained at level 1 with the main upside of maxing it out being an additional level of partywide Yang DEF UP. Decreasing its cooldown by 1 level can also be useful in challenging content, though.

Blinding Breaking Bunny
B5 Reisen's breaking potential is definitely above average due to both Spell Cards having 3 Moon and 3 Star breaks. On top of the consistent Star and Moon distribution, she can also break Blind anomalies via Spell Card 1 and Last Word, but the way those anomalies are applied by B5 Reisen can be achieved only via Spell Card 2.
High Damage via Hard Scaling and Killers
B5 Reisen can both dish out major damage from the start of turn 1 or when setting up, all thanks to her Youkai Killer or crazy Hard scaling on her Last Word. Many elements of her kit, from her skills to buffs from Boosting to spell Pre-ATK effects, contribute toward maximizing her Yin DEF buffs to make her damage go up very heavily. She can also buff her own Yin ATK via Skill 2 and Last Word.
Unbreakable Tank With Defensive Support
All of the elements that increase B5 Reisen's Yin DEF in her kit end up making her reach the cap of 10 levels of Yin DEF UP. However, additional utility comes in the form of the party-wide buffs to both Yin and Yang DEF in her skills, along with a Barrier on Skill 3. Even the Yin ATK debuff on her first spell can be taken advantage of to decrease the damage she takes, further helping her tanking ability. Finally, a shoutout has to be given to her second Passive, which decreases the damage Reisen takes by 75% when at full HP. Thanks to Absorb bullets and the 70% HP heal on her Skill 1, it is very easy to abuse this skill and make her even tankier.

Still, her defensive utility and elemental access is so high, she remains to be a great Friend in her own right.
