Character Analysis
Wriggle Nightbug (Kaiju of Augmentation and Mutation) was released on April 21st in Prayer “080-01 Firefly-Type Ultra Festival”.
A driving force approaches, signaling a new breed of mutated kaiju taking control. The driving force in question is identified to be Kaiju 080-01, more specifically the Firefly-Type, and she proves herself to be a trailblazer with a burning desire to show many others the combined power of an insect swarm as well as ground-breaking science courtesy of a certain professor in full bloom.
H5 Wriggle Nightbug is a Speed-Class Friend who can step on the gas by buffing the team’s Agility, Evasion, Spirit Power, and brings vast Burn anomaly utility.
As an Attacker
- Increases her Spirit Power by 1.50 and 0.35 via Skills 1 and 3
- Can increase her Yin ATK by 3 Stages from Skill 1.
- Has quite a few Fire and Star breaks, leaning more toward the former.
- Can turn Burn anomalies inflicted on herself into Yin ATK and CRIT ATK buffs. This is achieved by using Skill 1, Pre-ATKs on Spell Cards, and Pre-ATK on Last Word.
- Has a high Yin ATK stat at 1900.
- Has access to a myriad of Agility buffs, working very well with her Slice Scaling and her high Agility Stat at 1575.
- Can boost her own Accuracy by 3 Stages via Skill 2.
As a Utility / Debuffer
- Can inflict Burn Anomalies on her enemies via her first Spell Card Post-ATK and her second Spell Card Pre-ATK.
- Breaks Burn anomalies via Solo-Targeting Focus Shot at 1P, as well as her All-Targeting second Spell Card and Solo Last Word, both 3P.
- All 3 Skills have rather low cooldowns, with her 3rd Skill able to be used every turn.
- Has slight debuff potential via CRIT DEF DOWN on both second Spell Card and Last Word, being All and Solo respectively.
- Can also slightly debuff an enemy’s Yin DEF via Last Word bullet line.
As a Supporter
- Skill 3 is able to provide team support every turn, mainly providing 0.35 Spirit Power.
- Teamwide Agility can also be provided via Skill 2, Skill 3. Grazing, and her Last Word.
- Teamwide Evasion is accessible via Skill 2, Skill 3, first Spell Card and Last Word.
As a Tank
- Takes 30% Less Damage from Fire Elemental Bullets.
- Has no elemental weaknesses; resists Moon and Earth elements as well.
- Also immune to Paralyze and Blind anomalies, only having her barriers possibly broken by enemies when inflicted with Freeze, Poison and of course, Burn.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on April 30, 2023)
Spell Card
It never hurts for H5 Wriggle to have more Spirit Power from cards like The Witch of Scarlet Dreams. This will help get the most out of the second Spell Card’s Burn anomaly break at 3P, as well as Fire and Star breaks. For Yin ATK buffs, Overwhelming Firepower is the classic that can’t go wrong, but Redder Than Blood has Yin ATK buffs as well as a slight boost in Fire elemental bullets, making it slightly more effective, but both get the job done. With both Spell Cards being Light, Puppeteer and Necromancer does wonders for both if you are looking for as much power from them as possible. Finally, Send Her To The Underworld! is a surprisingly interesting choice, given it has 2 effects that H5 Wriggle can find use in: Yin DEF reduction on all enemies by 2 stages and another Barrier for herself, allowing her to potentially last longer in the battlefield.
Last Word
With H5 Wriggle’s Bullet Type on her Last Word being Body, we have 3 great options for this slot: Choose an Animal Spirit, Stand-In Shrine Maiden and Beach Sanshoku Geidontei. These 3 cards boost Body Bullets by 50%, with slight additional effects that could find use, such as Barrier restoration and CRIT Accuracy. That said, her Last Word also has 5 out of 6 Fire Bullet lines with the last one being Star, making Bonds of Blood a great choice too. Silver Gale has to wait warmly for the time being…
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Skill 1’s name says it all, as that should be in the Spotlight first, since Spirit Power, Yin ATK and Burn anomalies on herself are very appreciated. Next up is more of a toss up between Skills 2 and 3, but to take full advantage of its exceptionally low cooldown with Spirit Power for the team every turn, Crossfader will be next up, but not by a huge margin. Last up is Halation, providing additional Accuracy buffs, as well as teamwide Agility and Evasion.
Character Strengths
Puts the “Fire” in Firefly
H5 Wriggle brings the heat with healthy access to Fire and Star breaks, leaning towards Fire overall. Having access to 3 Fire breaks via Focus Shot and first Spell Card, 4 breaks via 2nd Spell Card and 5 of them found in her Last Word.
Blaze of Glory
Not only can H5 Wriggle buff her Yin ATK normally through Skill 1, but thanks to her ability, she can turn Burn anomaly inflictions on herself into offensive buffs, which means her Yin ATK (and by extension, CRIT ATK) will be buffed even more. By using Skill 1, both Spell Cards and her Last Word, she will have more Yin ATK buffs than meets the eye. Speaking of burning, H5 Wriggle bugs her enemies with Burn anomalies via both Spell Cards, and these anomalies can be broken with her Focus Shot, second Spell Card and Last Word.
Need for Speed
With a high Agility Stat at 1575, high Slice Scaling especially on her Last Word and constant Agility and Evasion buffs, H5 Wriggle likes her fair share of speedy action. Part of the above is achieved through her Skills which happen to have a low cooldown. Skills 1 and 2 may have a 4 Turn cooldown, but Skill 3 has a 1 Turn cooldown, making it usable every turn, and with 0.35 Spirit Power provided on top of its Agility and Evasion buffs, this will certainly have its benefits for H5 Wriggle’s teammates.
Character Weaknesses
Support has its limits
The best of what H5 Wriggle has to offer in terms of teamwide support is in her third Skill. Being able to grant the team a quick burst of Spirit Power, Agility and Evasion every turn is not something to overlook. Unfortunately, the rest of her Support in her kit is just more Agility and Evasion buffs, with the latter not exactly having much of a use for most allies.
Can’t make a Killing
There may be 8 Killers that H5 Wriggle has (including Soul, Martial Artist and Lunar Capital), but their ranges are all very limited, showing an example of quantity over quality. When it comes to raw power, even with the Yin ATK buffs and all the ways to make Agility contribute to it, there are some unavoidable limits when Killers can’t be capitalized on a good portion of the time H5 Wriggle is in battle.
Burns Out Quickly
With no natural access to Barrier restoration, our rider in question will have to Wriggle her way out of some tight situations. If she Grazes, she increases the team’s Agility, but it may come at the cost of a layer of Burn per Graze, minimizing her benefit to self-inflicted Burn anomalies, and despite the extensive Evasion buffs and no Elemental weaknesses, that can only go so far against tougher enemies, forcing her to Graze in some situations.
