1st Anniversary(?) Daily Forever Prayer! (Part 2)

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

It may be a month after the end of the first part of the 1st Anniversary Daily Forever Prayer, but this is still labeled as Part 2, and for good reason! The structure of this Daily Forever Prayer is very similar to the last, providing a daily free prayer that guarantees a Friend out of a predetermined set of Friends, which can be found on the Official LostWord website here.

What links this part to the previous one is the selection of Friends available to find: every L1 General Friend before Takane Yamashiro and Yamame Kurodani, L1 Festival Friends up to Yachie Kicchou, and 3 special A-Type Friends: A12 Byakuren Hijiri, A6 Cirno, and A9 Aya Shameimaru! There are a couple of more Friends added since the last part to add more spice, especially considering how limited A-Type Friends are compared to traditional Festivals.

This article will include a rundown on the features of Forever Prayer and how it works, the risk involved in waiting for certain Friends, and a slight highlight of the most distinct Friends included in this run of the event. If you’d like to view previous runs of the Daily Forever Prayer, you can check out the articles below!

How It Works

The main idea of Forever Prayer is simple: you get a guaranteed Friend once a day upon logging in after Daily Reset, with 2 options of what to do after the pulled Friend is revealed. You can either accept the Friend right away, ending your daily Friend pulls and leaving you with the result you decided to Welcome In. The other option is to not accept the Friend and wait until the next day for another Friend.

You can imagine the system as a queue, in which the Friend pulled at first is stored as an option that can be accepted or left behind. The next time you use Forever Prayer, the queued Friend will be removed in favor of the new Friend pulled. The only thing that will stop this queue is if you do not accept a stored Friend until the event ends after August 19th, in which case you will receive the Friend you most recently obtained in the Mail.
Once again, it is important to remember that you can only get one Friend out of this event. Accepting someone too early means you have finished your own run of the event, and cannot pull anymore. This run of Forever Prayer goes from July 15th until August 19th, giving you an astounding 36 different chances to pull for a Friend! But how does your chances for a specific Friend look when put into expressions?

Risk and Strategy

There are a staggering 99 different Friends that can be pulled this time around! While this makes it seem harder to obtain a specific Friend or Friends, there are at least more days to pull, as stated before being at 36 days. While it may seem like the chance for one Friend over the runtime is 1.0101%(or 1/99) times 36, this is very far from the case, as any day after not pulling a certain Friend, it is possible to just pull the same Friend from a previous date, which this equation does not consider.

Instead, in order to calculate the chance of getting a certain amount of Friends out of the event’s runtime, you should use the equation (1-(1-x/y)^z). It may seem complicated, but knowing the meaning of the variables makes it a lot simpler:

  • x represents the amount of Friends you are looking for. For instance, this can be as low as one (gunning straight for A12 Byakuren) or a couple more (some players play it safe and try to get one out of six or seven Friends).
  • y is the total amount of characters released, which in this case is 99. The reason why this is kept as a variable is to keep it consistent with future Forever Prayers. You can try doing the math yourself when the number of total Friends changes in the future!
  • z is the number of days left in the Forever Prayer. For the purpose of this exercise, this will always be 36. However, you can easily reapply this variable if you accidentally pull for less days or start pulling later.

The main way to minimize your risk of ending up with a Friend you did not desire is to increase x. For instance, I myself will try going for 5 different Festival Friends that I do not own: A6 Cirno, Kanako Yasaka, Suwako Moriya, Satori Komeiji, and Koishi Komeiji. Going for 5 different Friends bumps up my chances from 30.6140% (the chance of getting 1 desired Friend) to 84.5213%!

Some people may find going for 5 Friends to be too safe, which is why the amount of risk you’d like to take is ultimately up to you. If you really wanted to, you could try going for one of the three A-Type Friends, with a chance of 66.9709%, which sounds rather high. However, remember that when it comes to these statistics, they are really only expected results. Some players may end up unlucky and will simply never run into these Friends while partaking in the Forever Prayer. This is not to entirely downplay going for these very powerful Friends only, but at times it is likely safer to settle on someone you don’t mind taking, either because they are a new Friend or just strong, a few days before Forever Prayer ends. That way, you don’t have to end up with a Star Sapphire in your Mail on August 20th…

Reward and Choice

When it comes to who to specifically go for, the most common answer for many players will be Festival Friends that they do not have in their collection. General Friends can always show up in your prayers for other limited-time Friends (as long as they have been added to the General Pool), but Festival Friends are limited to only show up in future reruns. A-Type Friends are even more rare, as most of the time they will only pop up once every few months, which is why some players will likely go for them even if they already have a copy of them. This is not to say that no General Friends are worth going for, as there are still many great General Friends to use. In the end, you can also just attempt to find one of your personal favorite characters.

You can also refer to Gamepress’ Tier List on who is really the “strongest” Friend to go for, though keep in mind that at times you may want a more support-oriented Friend if your team is lacking a healer or heavy teamwide buffs. Instead of going over every single high-tier Friend in this article, the following section will have a brief overview of what each A-Type Friend featured here does best, followed by a list of the character pages of every Friend at S+ Tier and above.

A6 Cirno: The Strongest…?

A6 Cirno is sadly the most underwhelming A-Type on this prayer, though I suppose someone out of the three had to take that title. She definitely has some utility, featuring slight amounts of All-target CRIT DEF and Evasion debuffs on her skills. She can also apply Freeze anomalies with her first skill and follow that up with more Freeze anomalies with her second spell and Solo-target Freeze breaks at 3P of her first spell. Outside of her Last Word’s Yin DEF DOWN and CRIT DEF DOWN, Cirno really doesn’t offer much else. Her damage is decent and she even gets Human-Killer bullets, but her elemental access is somewhat mixed and she just really doesn’t offer much utility outside of the debuffs mentioned above. Sorry Cirno, but your power really hasn’t peaked yet. Maybe come back in 15 years or so.

A12 Byakuren Hijiri: Youkai Magician

A12 Byakuren is all about raw power, partially thanks to her heavy self-buffs in Yin ATK combined with self-Burn anomalies that further increase her offensive stats. She also gets a good amount of Spirit Power from her kit, specifically gaining 1.00 Spirit Power from her second spell and second skill. She also applies Burn anomalies on foes to serve as more Yin DEF debuffs as long as you don’t break the inflicted barriers. Her Last Word may break them anyway at 3P, but with a pre-ATK effect that buffs herself and debuffs foes’ Yin DEF along with the attack being only composed of the Sun element, Byakuren is a great addition to any team that needs the offense, even if her buffs are greedy outside of her sight CRIT ATK and Accuracy buffs on her third skill.

A9 Aya Shameimaru: High-Flying Reporter

A9 Aya is likely the best out of the three featured A-Type Friends, as she boasts both decent strength and good utility. Her Accuracy debuffs may not be so appealing unless you are trying to stall the enemy, but she more than makes up for it with plenty of All-target Evasion DOWN via her first spell and first skill. This basically serves as indirect accuracy support for everyone on the team, meaning more time can be put into powering up allies’ offensive stats rather than needing to increase Accuracy to ensure hits (though her Graze buff still increases Accuracy whenever needed). Aya can even grant herself Quick via her first skill to apply debuffs from her spells or Last Word to let her team do greater follow-ups. Topped off with mixed but effective elemental breaks and high power behind her Yang-only Last Word, Aya should be the first to report on the opponents’ defeat!
