Daily Forever Prayer Lite (September 2022)

Introduction

After a near 2-month period of hiatus, Daily Forever Prayer is back! …to some extent. You may have already noticed the “Lite” next to this Forever Prayer’s title, which in this case refers more to the Friend pool rather than the duration. This Forever Prayer is slightly shorter than an average Forever Prayer event, but 26 days total from September 2nd to September 27th is still nothing to scoff at. No, rather the smaller part of this Forever Prayer is the Friend pool composed solely of General Friends, from Reimu Hakurei up to Parsee Mizuhashi. This, including the recently-added Festival-to-General Friends Yukari Yakumo and Kasen Ibaraki, means there are a total of 69 different options on this Forever Prayer.

For a full list of the included General Friends on this Prayer, refer to this linked news post from the official website. Just ignore the fact that Yamame Kurodani is listed twice, she’s always a showoff. She even took over where Ichirin Kumoi should have been, which is truly a crime.

This article will include a rundown on the features of Forever Prayer and how it works, the risk involved in waiting for certain Friends, and a slight highlight of the most distinct Friends included in this run of the event. Since this Forever Prayer is slightly different from previous ones, in which it has no “super-limited units” to go for, the recommendations will be slightly more limited.

How It Works

The main idea of Forever Prayer is simple: you get a guaranteed Friend once a day upon logging in after Daily Reset, with 2 options of what to do after the pulled Friend is revealed. You can either accept the Friend right away, ending your daily Friend pulls and leaving you with the result you decided to Welcome In. The other option is to not accept the Friend and wait until the next day for another Friend.

You can imagine the system as a queue, in which the Friend pulled at first is stored as an option that can be accepted or left behind. The next time you use Forever Prayer, the queued Friend will be removed in favor of the new Friend pulled. The only thing that will stop this queue is if you do not accept a stored Friend until the event ends after September 27th, in which case you will receive the Friend you most recently obtained in the Mail.

Once again, it is important to remember that you can only get one Friend out of this event. Accepting someone too early means you have finished your own run of the event, and cannot pull anymore.

In this instance, I can either just take the currently saved Friend, Cirno, right now or wait until Daily Reset for a new saved Friend to keep or give up next time.

Risk and Strategy

There are a total of 69 different General Friends to go for this event, which is not a lot compared to before, but still a high number of options. A total of only 26 days to pull also gives you less time to truly confirm on who you want to risk waiting for. It may seem like the chance for one Friend over the runtime is 0.3768, (or 1/69 times 26), or 37.68% when multiplied by 100. However, this is very far from the case, as any day after not pulling a certain Friend, it is possible to just pull the same Friend from a previous date, which this equation does not consider.

Instead, in order to calculate the chance of getting a certain amount of Friends out of the event’s runtime, you should use the equation (1-(1-x/y)^z). It may seem complicated, but knowing the meaning of the variables makes it a lot simpler:

  • x represents the amount of Friends you are looking for. For instance, this can be as low as one (gunning straight for Momiji Inubashiri) or a couple more (some players play it safe and try to get one out of six or seven Friends).
  • y is the total amount of characters released, which in this case is 69. The reason why this is kept as a variable is to keep it consistent with future Forever Prayers. You can try doing the math yourself when the number of total Friends changes in the future!
  • z is the number of days left in the Forever Prayer. For the purpose of this exercise, this will always be 26. However, you can easily reapply this variable if you accidentally pull for less days or start pulling later.

The main way to minimize your risk of ending up with a Friend you did not desire is to increase x. I will mainly be going for General Friends I am missing in this Forever Prayer, which would really only include Takane Yamashiro and Parsee Mizuhashi, but I might also go for Yukari Yakumo and Kasen Ibaraki copies to increase my chances for a favorable outcome. This gives me an x-variable of 4, which when inserted into the formula gives me 0.7883, or 78.83% for an expected good outcome! This may seem rather high for a Forever Prayer, but again this is mainly a result of the lower Friend pool this time around.

Reward and Choice

When it comes to who to specifically go for on normal Forever Prayers, the most common answer for many players would be Festival Friends…but that obviously cannot be the answer this time around. Even Yukari Yakumo and Kasen Ibaraki are rather outdated for Festival Friend standards. Being left with only the General Friend options, one of the better answers casually is going for Friends that you do not have yet, as if you have an especially high amount of missing Friends, this Forever Prayer is a very easy way to fill out one of those slots.

For the meta-minded people out there, there are definitely some very strong General Friends to go for, with the following list providing 5 of the stronger options, in no particular order. In addition, right below is Gamepress’ official Tier List for anyone who wants to cross-reference any of the Friends present on the Forever Prayer to their current tier placement and stats. If all else fails, one personal recommendation I have is to go for some of the more recent General Friends, as almost all of them are rather strong in their own ways. Anyone listed below Yoshika Miyako in the above-linked website post is a pretty good pick if you are still indecisive.

Nazrin: Water/Metal Breaker and Team Player

Nazrin is one of those General Friends that has so much team support and utility that you’d swear she was a Festival Friend in disguise. Not only does she give a lot of teamwide Accuracy UP via both spells and skills, but even her Last Word, Harvest of the Mice, is a great partywide boost in Yang ATK and Agility. Her Boosts gives her team Yang DEF as well, giving her a way to buff up Friends who use either Hard and Slice scaling. If that wasn’t enough, both her spells and skills provide good teamwide Spirit Power UP as well, though the skill containing this does have a slower cooldown. To top it off, Nazrin can deal good damage while providing a hefty amount of Water and Metal Breaks via spells.

Tewi Inaba: Textbook Debuffer

Tewi has set the standard for a great Debuff Type Friend ever since she joined LostWord. While her elements are low, and her damage is definitely lacking nowadays compared to the old days, Tewi is all about the single-target debuffing via her skills. She can inflict 3 types of anomalies: Freeze, Burn, and Poison while also applying Evasion, Yin DEF, and Yang DEF debuffs. Burn and Poison are the better of the anomalies, as while any anomaly can be broken by the right Friend, Burn debuffs Yin DEF further and Poison does the same for Yang DEF. Finishing off with a Yang DEF debuff on all foes with her Last Word, Ancient Duper, and Tewi is a great team player for any team composition, capable of pulling off some surprising duo-Friend farms.

Parsee Mizuhashi: Metal/Sun Breaker and Offensive Force

Parsee is all about the power, if her easy access to Spirit Power via 1.5P on a skill and 1P on her spells wasn’t enough of an implication. She is somewhat greedy when it comes to buffs, only providing benefits to herself outside of partywide Yin ATK UP via Boosting, but she can still support the team with 3 turns of 3 levels of Evasion DOWN on all foes with her first spell. Her elemental access is also somewhat mixed, but she at least has 0P access to Water and Sun via basic shots and can still be good at breaking with Sun bullets.

Takane Yamashiro: Wood/Metal Breaker and CRIT Support

Takane might appear to be nothing more than a selfish attacker, seeing that her team support tools are mainly on her spells only, but a closer look at her kit shows how she serves as a great CRIT support Friend. Not only does her second spell provide partywide CRIT ATK UP, but her first, 4-turn cooldown skill has 3 levels of CRIT DEF DOWN on all foes to help out any Friend that wants to hit hard with critical hits or Killer Bullets. Takane herself has some great Killer Bullets, mainly Human Killer, on her Last Word, Dynamite Armor, which goes well with Takane’s very offensive-buffing kit. The several Wood and Metal breaks on her spells gives her a very well-rounded role on many good teams, something that cannot be said for her rival with mirrored Yin and Yang stats, Nitori Kawashiro.

Mayumi Joutouguu: Earth/Metal Breaker and Offensive Force

To wrap things up, Mayumi takes a combination of the previous points to make a very well-rounded Friend. She gets plenty of Earth and Metal bullets from her spells to give her good breaking potential on foes weak to those elements. Her skills are a mix of self-support with 1.00 Spirit Power UP and self-healing, but they also support the whole team via Yang ATK and Yang DEF buffs. Mayumi also buffs her Yang DEF with the pre-ATK effect of her Last Word, Warrior of Burial Mounds, so that she can hit harder its Hard scaling. Combined with her own Accuracy support and even Yang DEF debuff access on singular targets, and Mayumi is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

All of the discussed Friends are great options when it comes to viability in-game, but if you want a more specific ordering, if you are a new player, try to prioritize the Friends above in the same order they are listed. Otherwise, older players can considering swapping the priority between Tewi and Parsee based on what they think is more important.
