Scarlet Devil Tower Floor Guide - 21-30F

Introduction

For the first iteration of the Scarlet Devil Tower (7/17), the effect icons for Solo and All Resist were accidentally reversed on the 5th, 10-20th, and 30th floors. If you aren’t sure of which resist it is, each floor guide mentions the resist type.

So you’ve made it past twenty floors of the Tower, and earned some great rewards along the way. Well, time to take on the next ten floors! This section of the tower goes back to a 3 enemy setup, with the following setup: One named character with a Spell Gauge is accompanied by two generic enemies. The first generic enemy will raise the Yang DEF of all enemies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns and lower the damage all enemies take of a bullet type (such as Missile, or Ofuda) by 30% for 3 turns. The named character will raise all enemies Accuracy by 2 Levels for 2 Turns. Finally, the second generic character will restore 2 Barriers to all enemies and remove 1 Barrier Status from all enemies.

If you think about it, it’s almost like this floor is a series of Touhou sandwiches...

This is a guide to floors 21-30 of the Scarlet Devil Tower. If you’re looking for an overview of  how the Tower works, click here. To return to the floor index, click here.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Fire Bake-danuki 222700 Water Wood 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Missile type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Yukari Yakumo 252000 Moon, Wood Fire, Star 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Water Bake-danuki 223300 Earth Metal 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

This first floor basically shows you what you’re in for. Since the third enemy recovers so many barriers per turn on each floor, you have two primary strategies to handle these floors. Firstly, you can take out the enemy that recovers Barriers for all enemies ASAP: this frees you up to break the other two enemies at your leisure. Alternatively, you can aim for some combination of ATK Up and DEF Down to supercharge your All targeting Last Word nukers, as none of the enemies are able to recover HP.

For this floor, make sure not to bring any Missile-type Last Words, unless you absolutely have to. If you don’t know what damage type a unit’s Last Word is tagged as, you can check either ingame by tapping on the Last Word or by checking their page on GamePress!

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Metal Fairy 231300 Fire Earth 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Body type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Youmu Konpaku 268600 Sun, Fire Moon, Earth 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Wood Fairy 233100 Metal Water 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. This time around, try to avoid Body bullets. Perhaps this is the fairies way of telling Youmu that they don’t want to work their bodies, and instead they want to hurt somebody…? Note that two of the characters on this floor are weak to Fire: an excellent chance to get mileage out of people heavy on Fire breaks.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Tengu 237000 None None 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Slashing type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Sanae Kochiya 285100 Sun, Metal Wood, Water 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Earth Tengu 238000 Wood Fire 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. If you want to aim for Breaking the typeless Tengu, make sure to take out the Earth Tengu as fast as possible, as it’ll quickly remove any Barrier Status you try to apply. This time around, make sure not to bring any Slashing bullets. Training against swords - Sanae couldn’t possibly be teaching them to be knights of the wind, could she?

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Moon Fairy Maid 245500 Star Sun 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Energy type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Kosuzu Motoori 298200 Sun, Metal Wood, Water 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Sun Fairy Maid 247600 Moon Star 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. This time around, try to avoid bringing Energy bullets. Motoori and the fairy maids are just too energetic for that to work! Perhaps they’re just too excited about cleaning Suzunaan - or more likely, they’re up to some mischief.

Patchouli Knowledge is a particular standout for this floor, as she can quickly Break the Sun Fairy Maid to eliminate the Barrier restoration, and then Break Kosuzu for good measure.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Kasen Ibaraki 296500 Moon, Fire Earth, Star 6 1 Skill 1: Reduces damage received from Lunarians and Spirits for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns & Raises the CRI DEF of all allies by 5 Levels for 1 Turn. Skill 2: Raises the CRI Accuracy of all allies by 6 Levels for 1 Turn
Reimu Hakurei 317500 Moon, Metal Water, Star 6 1 Skill 1: Increases the Evasion of all allies by 5 Levels for 1 Turn & Recovers 2 Barriers for all allies. Skill 2: Lowers the Yin ATK of all enemies by 6 Levels for 1 Turn

The first major obstacle in this miniboss fight is that both enemies have a Spell Gauge of only 1. Make sure to carefully manage your Barriers, otherwise you’re going to get wiped out in no time. The other major obstacle is Reimu: as she’ll constantly either massively raise the Evasion of her and Kasen for a turn as well as restoring 2 Barriers to them both or lower the Yin ATK of all of your units by a ton for a turn, she’ll make it extremely difficult to take them down, grinding you out until you run out of Barriers and promptly Game Over. In comparison, Kasen is something of a pushover; the Lunar Rabbits do not count as Lunarians, so you only need to avoid bringing Spirits against them for her skills to be relatively unthreatening.

As such, it’s highly advised to take out Reimu first if possible, as once she’s out of the picture Kasen has no way of keeping herself alive and will thus quickly fall to either damage or Breaks. Alternatively, you can attempt to Break them both on the same turn and then wipe them both out to avoid dealing with the Eva altogether, though you may need to retry the fight if Reimu’s Eva Up causes some inopportune misses.

Since both Kasen and Reimu are weak to Moon, anyone heavy on the Moon breaks such as Luna Child, Patchouli Knowledge, or Reisen U Inaba will cover this fight in a Break eclipse. And as always, for any miniboss or boss floor not immune to Poison, Medicine Melancholy is a fantastic option.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Star Spirit 261600 Sun Moon 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Mass type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Byakuren Hijiri 323400 Moon, Water Wood, Star 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Spirit 263000 None None 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. Unfortunately the typeless Spirit is also the one that restores Barrier Status, so you may find it difficult to Break them. If all else fails, remember they can’t heal up! It seems like Byakuren might be trying to lead these spirits to nirvana, but they’re probably just tuning her out whilst smiling and nodding to keep the monk happy.

27F

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Water Lunar Rabbit 267400 Earth Metal 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Laser type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Fujiwara no Mokou 337300 Moon, Water Wood, Star 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Earth Lunar Rabbit 268400 Wood Fire 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. Rather odd to see Mokou hanging out with Lunar rabbits, but perhaps she wound up on the moon. Or perhaps she’s just doing it to piss off Kaguya somehow - getting chummy with the Lunarians certainly would do the trick.

28F

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Sun Spirit 274200 Moon Sun 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Liquid type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Seiran 255000 Metal, Star Sun, Water 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Fire Spirit 276900 Water Wood 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21F. Don’t bring any Liquid bullets this time, the spirits don’t appreciate being mistaken for flames. Did you know, the LostWord Discord used to call the Spirit enemies “Fire Homies?” They even used to be an emoji! Alas, they’re no longer our homies. Not since the accident.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Moon Fairy 280000 Star Sun 5 N/A Increases the Yang DEF of all allies by 2 Levels for 3 Turns & reduces the damage received from Normal type bullets for all allies by 30% for 3 Turns.
Suwako Moriya 386200 Wood, Star Sun, Fire 5 2 Raises the Accuracy of all allies by 2 Levels for 2 Turns.
Metal Fairy 280400 Fire Earth 5 N/A Restores 2 Barriers to all allies & Removes 1 Barrier Status from all allies.

Same deal as 21f. Don’t bring Normal bullets, you wouldn’t want to bore Suwako. Hey, wait a minute, Suwako, you haven’t even shown up in the game yet! Good going, spoiling everyone on how cute your sprite is.

Do note that since Suwako and the Moon Fairy are both weak to Star, units like Marisa Kirisame (both of them) and Star Sapphire will really make them shine! Or - Break their Barriers. One or the other.

Enemy HP Weak To Resists Barriers Spell Gauge Skills
Koakuma 473300 Sun, Fire Moon, Star 6 1 Skill 1 (Used when HP is greater than or equal to 50%): Reduce damage received from those who live in the Scarlet Devil Mansion for All Allies by 50% for 2 Turns & reduces the Cri DEF of all enemies by 6 Levels for 2 Turns.
Skill 2 (Used when HP is less than 50%): Increases own Solo resistance by 3 Levels for 3 Turns & Increases CRI Eva for all allies by 3 Levels for 3 Turns.
Patchouli Knowledge 472000 Star Fire, Water, Wood, Metal, Earth 6 2 Skill 1 (Used when HP is greater than or equal to 50%): Increases own All resistance by 5 Levels for 1 Turn & Recovers 2 Barriers for all Allies.
Skill 2 (Used when HP is less than 50%): Gives 3 Layers of Paralyze Barrier to 1 enemy for 1 Turn & Gives 2 Burning Barriers to 1 enemy for 1 Turn & Increases own CRI Acc by 6 Levels for 1 Turn.
Extra Attack: Binds the use of switch for 5 Turns (Occurs once).

Welcome to the third Boss Floor! I think Patchouli might’ve gotten mad at my earlier comments, because not only is she bringing Koakuma along to beat you down, her Extra Attack is specifically designed to counter this guide’s sagely advice: namely keeping you from swapping out in the first place!

The fight is clearly set up in a particular way: Patchouli is meant to bait you to lowering her below 50% HP due to her annoying All resistance and Barrier recovery, just to raise her own Cri ACC to make the most of Koakuma lowering your team’s CRI Def. However, since her base critical hit ratio is pretty small in the first place, this isn’t really much of a detriment.

As such, the best way to handle this fight is to drop Patchouli below 50% HP as soon as possible to remove her annoying first skill, and then promptly take them both out at your leisure.

A particular standout for this fight is Medicine Melancholy, who can set up a 6 Barrier Break on both foes in a single turn. Additionally, Marisa Kirisame (Witch of Scarlet Dreams) can deliver 3 Breaks to both of them at once with her first Spell Card.
